A Case of the Mondays

I normally go grocery shopping with Grace on Mondays. And that normally involves multiple stores since it's a drive to get there. I said today that I would be optimistic about it and really try to make the best out of it since I hate it. We get a few miles down the the temp gauge starts creeping up. My husband changed the water pump and never checked the fluid level or test drove or anything. I turned around, turned the heat on and made it home.

MIL didn't answer so I couldn't borrow a vehicle. Now I actually have to do something with G instead of wheel her around in in a shopping cart.

Anyone else having a case of the Mondays?

  • Eek! I hope your car gets fixed tonight! I'm motivated (for now....) I'm sure the Mondays will catch up with me by lunch time.

  • I came in to a voicemail from my absolute least favorite student and decided to call her back right away and just get it over with.  She then proceeded to tell me that I lied to her (I didn't. she's just legitimately stupid) and that our nursing program is bullshit (uh, it's state mandated curriculum. we don't make the rules) and that it's my fault she can't go to school full time and she needs the money because she hates her job so she quit.

I reminded her of the 6, yes 6 times we've met about her wanting to go FT and explained yet again that due to how low her placement tests were, she didn't meet the pre-reqs to a lot of classes and if she had done them in 2012 when she started like I told her to, she would have been 1/2 way done with the program by now.

Then she threw in the "WELL I HAVE A CHILD TO SUPPORT!" card at me.  It took all I have not to reply back with "Bitch, please.  90% of my students have kids and still support them without relying on just their financial aid." but I didn't. Instead I referred her to a counselor, since clearly I'm not explaining something right to her.

I'm hoping that is not a preview of the rest of my day.

    Oh yes.

I feel like it has been weeks since I have had a full night's sleep, and it's really starting to show.

I was still in the parking lot, headed into work this morning, and was actually feeling fairly confident in my appearance.  I had full makeup, curled my hair, actually dressed up...and then a woman in HR stopped her car on the way in and said "You look REALLY tired today."

...I was still wearing my sunglasses.  Way to kill my confidence, lady.

  • Yes.  I could not get out of bed this morning.  We are doing so much on the weekends that I'm exhausted every Sunday night/Monday, but it's summer in Chicago and we have a yard now so we're cramming it all in.

My boss is back from a 2 week vacation today.  Ugh.

  • Cramps are killing me to. G is playing with her leap pad. I'm trying to clean since it looks like i did nothing all weekend.
  • I ate some left over strawberry rhubarb crisp for breakfast. Ugh. I win so good at losing weight and eating well.

My house looks like a tornado went through it because I stayed up late watching free HBO this weekend instead of cleaning. I'm paying for it today both being tired and not wanting to clean.

  • I had a 3 day weekend and it was so nice. I didn't want it to end.

I was a kid on Christmas. I finally got the Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow. Wasn't impressed with the price but I LOVE the shadow. I'm hooked! I also got my Sanuk sandals in the mail and love them too. Thank you ladies for making me spend $100!

Last night while putting B to sleep I felt really dizzy and a bit sick to my stomach. I thought going to bed would help. I woke up feeling just as awful. I'm at work but man do I feel like shit and getting 9 hours of sleep was not enough. I'm exhausted.

Our gutters are done and look amazing!

  • Mason has a severe case of HFM. He was throwing up throughout the night and his fever got up to 104.5! Scary!! His poor feet are so blistered now, I've never seen it like this. His throat also looks full of blisters. Poor guy. So anyway, made for a long night. His fever was 100.4 this morning so things are looking up.

DH is home on Monday's so he keeps the kids home with him. DD has swim lessons through DC Monday through Thursday so I take her in to DC in the morning on my way to work and DH picks her up when lessons are finished. Right as I was walking into the door of DC today the director was hanging up the phone with the pool. Swim lessons are cancelled. Fabulous. So glad I drove her all the way out there for DH to basically follow me by 30 minutes to pick her up!! Oh well, a impromtu play date with some friends for a while!

OMG that sounds awful!  I thought Ethan had it bad but that sounds way worse.  So scary!  I hope he feels better  :(
  • Thanks, @BeebopandBuddy. The on call nurse last night said that HFM usually has a low grade fever associated with it so she was thinking strep throat, especially since he was throwing up so regularly. My gut still said HFM because of all the blisters and because Mason just finished the same 10 day antibiotic that they prescribe for strep on Saturday night (prescribed for pink eye and ear infections this time) . Talked to the Pediatrician this morning and he agrees it's HFM.

He did seem to be feeling a lot better this morning though! I just hope the blisters don't linger around long!

  • I just spent close to 90 minutes trying on new hairstyles on the in style virtual hair makeover thing and then got really pissed because none of the styles i liked saved.

I'm getting bangs.  and cutting my hair shorter.  A la Diana Argon.  I haven't worn my hair down in over a month and won't because it's too long and weird looking.  My face is too chubby for the amount of hair I have and it desperately needs to be thinned out and shaped.  I'm going in on Friday at 330pm for my cut and will probably regret that since that's exactly when I should start packing and playing tetris with the car so we can leave for vacation first thing saturday morning...

  • Anyone ever get the feeling that your kid is days away from getting HFM?  Ha.  It sounds so miserable that I'm sure it's coming our way.

I am glad to be back from vacation and at work.  It was cold and rained two days straight.

A friend's daughter had similar issues when she had HFM because of the blisters in her throat.  It was awful.  I'm still thankful it wasn't that bad in our house.  Hope he recovers quickly!!  Poor guy! :(

  • I totally have a case of the Mondays.  I shouldn't even be on here because I have so much to do at work right now, but had a quick break and didn't want to start something in between.  I really should though...

This time of year is always crazy busy in my department, which sucks because the weather is beautiful and I'd rather be hanging out with my kids outside after work instead of getting home after they're already in bed.

  • Yep. I was just told my co-worker's fiancee/father to her 2 children died in a small plane crash on Thursday night. We all work remotely & she's in another state, but we've worked together for almost 10 yrs. I am in shock. I can't even imagine what she is going through right now.

L was there. She had blisters on her belly, Doc said if it shows up anywhere else it is HFM. We kept her home the next day and nothing else popped up and she was as happy as a clam. Bullet dodged - this time.

    I'm over pants.

I'm actually wearing a long dress at work today.  I can't believe I only own one of these.  It's so comfortable!

We have blackout shades in B's room along with fleece blankets I put over the curtain rods. It looks ridiculous from inside but it works. DS gets up no earlier than 7:30. Most times after 8.

We're dealing the same thing.  She slept so great when we were in Florida, because it was as sunny at 7:00am there as it is around 5:15-5:30 here.

I don't feel like investing in black out curtains because we'll have different sized windows at the new house in a few months.

  • Our property borders a cemetery. I guess the town sent some people to clean it out. They are dumping everything on our property. An acre of sticks and leaves and everything. No one ever asked permission. They are using a 4 wheeler on our property with no helmet. Two don't speak English and the one who kinda does said our neighbor said they could dump everything on our property. My FIL cam over and told them to get everything back off our property and so did the town because I called the town. I kinda feel like a jerk but I kinda don't. It is clear where they are dumping is a part of our property by the stone walls and roadway we have.

I need to figure out a way that I can go to the store by myself once In a while. #FWP

  • We are still waiting on our offer for the house to be accepted by the builder. He is legitimately trying to nickel and dime us to death. We wanted a few upgrades (the house next door that's priced $50k lower had them, why can't ours?) but he's playing hardball. Well, so are we. Give us the G.D. upgrades or we aren't buying. We aren't asking for all that much-hardwood in the family room instead of carpeting, tile master shower and a built-in bookcase. Ugh, I hate this. He's totally stringing this out.
