@ksmio6 - we are basically having the same problem. She was sleeping in her crib throughout the night with maybe 1 feeding around 2am. A little before she turned 6 months, she was up at least 2x a night. I thought this was just a growth spurt. Since then, she is just getting up more and more. We put her down around 8 with no problems. Then she is up at 11 crying. We let her CIO for a couple minutes then either DH or I will go pat her back. This just makes the crying 10x worse and she sits up and just wails! Once I pick her up she falls asleep on my shoulder. If I try to put her back down in the crib the crying just starts all over again. The only thing that is working is taking her into the bed with us. She sleeps soundly once she gets into bed with us.
We need to get her back in the crib but I can't take the crying. I work and have to get up at 6 so its just easier to let us all sleep.
Curious to know...those of you that sleep trained (whatever meathod you chose) and the training worked on your babie(s) - are you having the same issues as many others in the 8 mo regression thread?
I'm asking cause we are not. I'm wondering if I'm a 'lucky one' with a sleepy baby or if the sleep training set up better habits
I'm sure I'm jinxing myself here, but so far we aren't having major issues. Since sleep training 2 months ago, we've had only a few nights of 1 extra wake up (we still do 1 MOTN feeding). He is fighting his naps and bedtime harder than usual but we still have good sleep habits and it's 100% better than it was prior to sleep training. Good question! I'm curious to see other responses.

Just wanted to say that it took 2 days shy of 3 weeks for her not to cry at night. Crying was minimal < 1 minute but still. Definitely not the 4 to 7 days Ferber says most kids fall into.
As far as the 8 month regression. I hope we don't hit one. A few days ago she was waking up hungry a lot. So I just fed her. I feared the 8 month sleep regression, but now I give her a 4 oz bottle of formula at night. She STTN again. So maybe my supply is starting to dwindle down.
We initially had pretty good success with Ferber training. It took about a week to get both babies to go down easily and STTN. They were still waking up once for a feeding, which was fine and we had managed to get them more or less on the same daytime nap schedule. We had a couple setbacks because they got sick and were not sleeping well for about 10 days. After that, we had to do a little re-training, but not much, to get them back into the swing of things.
The last week or so we've had trouble with our bedtime routine. We had a pretty good routine and were usually able to get them to go down with zero crying but last week for no apparent reason, it just stopped working. They have been fighting bedtime even though they are physically exhausted and fussy. Their naps have been really erratic lately too. Sometimes they just won't nap more than 15 minutes and then every once in a while one of them will sleep for an hour, which is making it nearly impossible to keep them on the same daytime schedule again. They also suddenly don't want to nap in their cribs, and instead want to be on the couch but since they roll around so much now, I'm not comfortable with that. So, I'm not sure what is going on, maybe they are transitioning to a new sleep pattern. Just when I think I've got the hang of things they switch it up on me.

not a sleep expert and deft not about CIO but it is not unusual to have to re-train multiple times due to teething, illness, off schedule, sleep regressions. Not all kids need to be re-trained, though, so I think it is more about the individual kid rather than sleep-training.
FTR- we did NCSS and yes- we're having some sleep regression here.
Did you sleep train with DD1? I know you've mentioned she is spirited but not sure if that translated to sleeping habits as well.
With the sleep regression...did DD2 get back into the swing fairly quick?
FTR for a couple days after we moved into the new house DD was off her sleeping patterns...wouldn't nap unless rocked, staying up an hour past her normal bedtime, and babbling for HOURS before falling asleep. But we are now on the third night in a row where she just went right to sleep no protest. I didn't really retrain her...she just kinda figured it out after the routine settled back down.

Is it too late to go back to the crib?
@Vickytoria1803 We are going to try CIO next weekend. DH is gone this weekend and I would not be able to let her cry by myself. We did the pick up put down method for two weeks and she is not having it. Last night, she screamed bloody murder from 3 to almost 5 on that method. I quit. She is sound asleep beside me. *sigh*. Going to make DH do the dirty work.
We had early success with Ferber, but I think the dreaded 8 month sleep regression is upon us. There was a week straight when we'd put DD in her crib, and she'd sigh and roll over to sleep. Now she is fighting naps and bedtime like a champ. She isn't waking up multiple times per night, but having to go through Ferber again is killing me. We tried the Sleep Lady Shuffle, but had no luck with that method.
@Kittymom6 if it's just bed and nap time she's fighting but she's still sttn, maybe your timing is off. It could be off in either direction. You might be waiting too long so she's over tired. Or it may be too early and she's just not ready.
Also. What is sleeping environment like? My girls do best with white noise (we use a box fan) and a darker room. If DD goes down awake awake, I usually just turn on her little light machine on her crib and she watches that before passing out. If she falls asleep while eating.
Other than that if just say be consistent. Have a solid routine, maybe play with bed time, and darkness of the room.
