I don't have any yet, but didn't see a thread started, so let's hear them!

This probably sounds strange, but I don't mind pumping. I get some weird kick out of seeing how much milk I can get.

eta:  not trying to brag about the amount, it usually isn't that much

Me too, and mine's not that much either.

I'm not sure if this is an UO or not:

I just joined a breastfeeding group on facebook (a friend suggested it to me) and I hate it.  I don't mind nursing in public, nor do I mind seeing others nurse in public.  I do not, however, want to see strangers' pictures of them nursing their children/pumping on my news feed. I am leaving that group.

I am a BFing mommy and very proud that I have been able to do this.   I think it's a beautiful, wonderful thing.  Just to clarify...
@njb750 I am in a group like that too.  I have debated leaving.

I kinda agree with you. I BF, have no issue nip or seeing others nip (covered or uncovered), but I wouldn't want to see pics on FB. To each their own, I guess.

I just left a BF group, but not because of pictures...I couldn't handle the questions. I know there's "no such thing as a stupid question" (insert an eye roll here), but FFS reread what you type....and don't be the person who disregards all the advice just to ask the same stupid question over again.

I guess my UO is that people need to learn to research stuff :/

I also just can't take all the butterflies and rainbows.  One girl asked if there were seeds in her breast milk, since there were seeds in the baby's poop.  Everyone was so sweet in their response and I was giggling to myself because I was imaging the reaction F14 would have given...
Yes! And the same questions get asked every single day.

  • Unpopular in my area: it's great that snapping turtles are coming out and laying eggs all over the place. Yes, even next to the playground where your precious plays, paranoid mom. Don't let him poke the turtle and he'll be okay.
I feel the same way about snakes. No need to "chop it's head off" as I see suggested on Facebook all the time. Leave it alone and it won't bother you!

I can't stand elementary school aged kids.  The poop jokes, gross sounds, annoying behavior, testing boundaries, gigantic front teeth... it's not my favorite age.  My oldest son is just getting to this age and it's already driving me crazy.

Fortunately, my husband loves that age (I guess men are never too old for poop jokes), so I'm going to leave the parenting to him until they turn 12 ;)

=)) DS1 is getting into that obnoxious phase too! I would rather deal with poop jokes than puberty!

RondackHiker I love snappers!! A few years ago I found a nest with 3 baby snappers. The mom was flattened out in the road so I rescued them and kept them in an aquarium until they were old enough to survive on their own.

  • The FB BF group I'm a part of... People keep posting picture of their nipples. I don't want to see that rash, your suspected thrush, or really any picture of a nipple that takes up my entire screen in my news feed.

I love reptiles roo. That's one thing that really gets to me. Being afraid and leaving them alone is totally fine. But if someone talked about how they saw a rabbit so they chopped its head off with a shovel, everyone would think they were a sick creep. Somehow the poor reptiles get a double standard.

DH came in from mowing the lawn yesterday, and I went to look at it. There was one whole strip that was still tall. I asked him what was up with that, and he said, "Oh, there was a snake. I didn't want to take out all of his tall grass. I will mow that section tomorrow if he's gone."

    My heart exploded Grinch style.

    Standing ovation, Mr @megash113‌.

Especially after this morning on the radio where some bitch called in and talked about putting her betas together to watch them fight when she was bored and the hosts LAUGHING ABOUT IT.

A friend just got a gun and now I really want my own. DH has one but I want one that fits my hands comfortably (because small).
I actually don't care if you get a gun. I do care if you leave it unsecured in your home or bring it to places where it doesn't belong. Someone in my city was just arrested for bringing a gun to a dance recital. That's not appropriate, and I care very much that dance recitals (and similar events) are gun free.

    Ditto this

@megash113 And take a shooting/safety course!  We own guns for hunting and DH has a pistol, all locked in a gun safe and unloaded.  I am experienced with long guns, but I will not handle the handgun because 1) I don't like them and find them unnecessary, and 2) I've never taken a course from a trained professional on how to use them correctly and safely.

I don't think Melissa McCarthy is all that funny. I thought the movie Identity Thief was more depressing than it was funny.
  • This is a silly question but can snakes climb walls? When it rains really badly small snakes (like 10" or less) get flushed from my garden beds down to the stairs to our outside basement entrance. Then I don't see them again. So I didn't know if birds/possums/racoons were getting them or if they can climb out. It's 8 stairs. Should I move them to the further back gardens when I see them?

People who are afraid of snakes shouldn't read this next bit.

Yes, snakes can climb stairs. And walls, depending on the wall. If it's brick or has any ridges it's easier to climb.

Now if they're truly bitty the stairs may be trickier (they need to be long enough to get the top third of their body onto the step) and you can help them out. Otherwise the bigger snakes probably eat them.

    Do you have flooding issues?

    image image
  • @laurlaurlaur

Either is a posssibility. Could you put a board down the stairs that they could climb? Like a 2x4 or something laying on one side like a ramp? I wouldn't want you guys to trip but that way they can save themselves!

  • I'm going political. Let's see if I can stir some things up.

My UO: I'm not happy Eric Cantor was beaten in his primary.*
*because I think the guy who beat him will probably be waaaaay more up the tea party's ass than Cantor was.

FFTC: I was initially happy, then @bookshelves showed me the error of my ways.

You can still be happy, as long as he has a viable opponent in the general!
And keep in mind that no matter who wins, they will wield considerably less influence in Washington. They'll be a committee back bencher for years and not hold leadership in the party. Seniority matters for ranking members! (Which is why it was so sad for MA to lose Kerry and Kennedy in the Senate so close together!).

I think your pediatrician is wrong.

I don't disagree about losing seniority buuuuut I <3 Elizabeth Warren so much that I'm not too sad about it! It'll be weird to go a year now and not be voting for a senator though, geez.

I had a great UO that I meant to make a note of, and I forgot. Dammit.
Oh, I puffy heart Elizabeth Warren, too! And Markey was my rep, so I've been voting him in for awhile. But man, we lost a lot of clout really quickly! Thankfully what Warren doesn't have in seniority, she makes up for in noise (and I mean that in a totally complimentary way!).

I think it's hilarious that since I've joined the bump I noticed Americans write "bleu cheese" but here in bilingual Canada we definitely write (and say) blue cheese.

It is because Klassy and pretentious.

Eta why does iPhone capitalize Klassy?

  • I hate recieving thank you cards.

Eta: mostly because then I feel so awful throwing it out, and I feel like I should send a thank you card for the thank you card. When does it end?!

But I have no issues sending them. Except that they're hard to remember to do!

I never thought about it before, but I kinda agree. I think they are pointless to receive and I pretty much toss them in the trash immediately. But if I didn't get one, I'd be annoyed with the person for improper etiquette...

    I send them out always.

Can you describe them? Is the sauce on then buffalo and blue cheese and then the wings are tossed in the sauce?

Wegmans has buffalo blue cheese potato chips. Yum.
