Update:
We were airlifted to Tx Childrens Hospital yesterday and things are going really well here. I can't believe that my baby already had his first plane ride!
I have been pumping like crazy because he gets too exhausted trying to nurse due to his heart issue, but will take a bottle. He is eating and doing normal baby things and everyone seems optimistic about his surgery and chances of leading a normal life afterwards.
It has been a stressful time, but God has provided for all of our needs in amazing ways. We quickly got a spot with the top heart surgeon here, insurance covered the airlift, we have had free lodging here, everyone has been so wonderful and helped with our 3 kids and house back home. It has brought me to years many times just thinking about how loving and generous people have been and how many people are praying for him.
We find out tomorrow when the surgery will be (sometime this week). We will probably be away from home for 2-3 weeks after the surgery while he recovers. I will update soon. Thank you all for your kindness and prayers!

I posted that I was going in to be induced yesterday, then I have been MIA because it has been a crazy time. I was induced, it took 7 hours (longer than my other 3 kids) because I had trouble dilating due to scar tissue from a recent LEEP procedure. The doc finally had to manually break up the tissue- yikes! I was REALLY thankful that I already had the epidural.
When August was born, he was 8 lbs 2 oz and started crying right away, but his color wasn't very good. The nurse kept saying he wasn't "pinking up" like he should. He was crying and breathing, but for some reason his oxygen saturation level wouldn't go above the 50's. They whisked him off to NICU within 5 minutes of birth. I couldn't leave the recovery room for 2 agonizing hours, but my husband went with him and was texting me updates. It ends up that he has a major heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). We were completely floored by this diagnosis because I saw a perinatologist and my OB and we had 5 ultrasounds but none of them showed any evidence that he had a heart defect. His heart rate was always perfect, even during labor yesterday.
He had to have an immediate procedure last night to insert a balloon to open an area of the heart to allow better oxygen circulation. He will have to have open heart surgery in mid-June to switch the position of his arteries. The prognosis for his condition is very good, so we feel thankful for that. He should be able to lead a normal life besides periodic check-ups with the cardiologist. I was a total wreck last night, but I feel so much better today now that the shock has worn off and I have more information. Also, lots of people have been praying for us and we feel God's presence giving us peace and strength and comfort during such a scary time.
August is doing much better today. His oxygen levels are in a good range and we were finally able to hold him. The month in NICU will be a challenge, but I feel so thankful that he is going to be ok. This has been a difficult time, but also a beautiful time of people reaching out to us with offers of help, prayers, and love and celebrating our precious new son.
