Walking to induce / help labor - load of crap or does this actually help? The nurses this morning told me to walk all I could today, but if it won't make a ton of difference, I'd really rather not...it's hot and my feet hurt already
Just starting to wash all our baby clothes. They are sooo cute and sooo small! But now I'm nervous we don't have enough. What do babies wear during the summer, are onsies enough or do we need pants and socks etc??
@kriati03 It's already mid-90s here so when we're out and about I do onesies and bring their light blankies for the car/chilly rooms/drape over the car seat to avoid stranger dangers. When we're home it's usually onesies or nekkie babies + A&A swaddle. I bought the babies darling little fuzzy socks (I have an obsession with fuzzy socks) and all they do is kick 'em off!
We have a super old ultrasound machine at work so DH and I decided to see if it still worked....it does and now we have no question, we are definitely having a boy hehehe
@lizardbreath14 I couldn't see a problem with it if you are ordering directly from amazon. Sometimes there are issues when ordering from a third party selling on amazon though.
There was a shooting at SILs school today. She attended class this morning and was off campus before it had happened but it's still so scary to think she could've been there. It took place in the building she has classes too. Way too close up home. I feel awful for the families of the victims. I hope none of our Seattle ladies were affected by this.

I'm glad to hear that your SIL is ok. My thoughts are with the victims, family and friends affected by this. I also hope our Seattle ladies are not affected by this! I didn't go to this school, but I did go to college in Seattle so it definitely hits close to home!

That is so scary! Glad she's okay. I went to UW so this definitely hits close to home as well
Sitting in the waiting room at L&D. BP was too high at weekly appt. and I randomly put on 6 lbs since last week's appt. Since sitting in waiting room my vision has been a little off and I'm getting a headache (that could be stress though) Thinking this may not be a false alarm this time... midwife at clinic told me to be prepared for induction. :-S
Back home for now. Spent all day being monitored and all labs and BP readings were "perfect". Because of the symptoms the Doctor wanted to induce but my midwives sent me home for the night based on test results being perfect. Heading in for BP test at clinic tomorrow and doing 24 hour urine collection tomorrow to bring to hospital on Saturday where they'll do another BP test and NST. Potentially gestational hypertension or early signs of pre-e. If it's the latter they will be inducing soon. :-SS
@mrsdbc I work at an optical store and we see kids for exams that are as young as 2 years old. Just make sure you find a doctor that specializes in children!
@mrsdbc, C is doing the same thing lately. I agree with lalala though, it's probably more of a developmental looking for things issue. C couldn't find my pillow in the floor today..it's a full sized pillow, white case, against a very colorful patterned rug...
I left work as of 5/23, so we joined DH's insurance as of 5/23. Different carrier, but my OB's office is still in-network. I assumed that therefore, the hospital where they deliver would also be in-network, so I didn't bother to check. Silly me. I just got a letter from said insurance stating that the hospital is out-of-network and while they'll pay, it'll be considered out-of-network as far as our deductible goes... Bull. Shit. That makes zero sense to me. Why have an OB's office that takes an insurance deliver at a hospital that doesn't take that same insurance?! I'm pissed. It's looking it'll be twice as much now, which we can't afford, didn't take into account when we were saving, and just don't have. I'm pissed at them for being idiots and pissed at myself for not checking. We do not need this right now. Argh!
@lizardbreath14 I also got my pump from Amazon because I didn't want to wait/couldn't wait any longer. It's real. Just make sure it's not from a 3rd party seller, that's where I'd be a bit skeptical.
Thanks, my dear! I just ordered one, directly from Amazon. It's really a sweet deal, and I have Prime, so I couldn't pass it up.
--------------------- I have a dog and a cat and I washed all the NB and 3mo clothes and the dog rolled all over them. I just put them away. The dog licked the paci we packed for the hospital, I just rinsed it and put it in the bag. DH is a mechanic, unless I have him shower and scrub himself off before holding her when he gets home, she's going to be exposed to some dirt and grime. This article just makes me feel better about not being super neat freak clean with the dog and cat hair. And I know that at one point she's going to put a dog toy in her mouth or vice versa. She'll also probably be in DH's shop shortly after she's born at one point or another. I was working on cars with my dad early (like as soon as I could walk) and I'm perfectly fine!
After a long day and a last minute c section, Canon Matthew made his appearance to the world! Will share story and pics when I am home and feeling a little better!

@LilyGrace48 - that sucks and is ridiculous that it doesn't cover the hospital. My husband had a hospital stay a few years back and we got a huge bill from it. The good news is that hospitals are pretty good about working with you. It took us two+ years to pay all the bills but they don't mind as long as you pay eventually.
This, right after college when we didn't have health insurance or jobs or money or anything, really my husband got lyme disease and we had a big bill and couldn't pay SHIT. THEN, a year later while we were still paying off the trip to the emergency room for lyme disease my (idiot) husband broke his wrist and had to have major surgery (luckily this time we had health insurance) but we still had to pay out the ass for physical therapy and the surgery, etc. We just told the hospital that we could only pay like $20 a month or something totally ridiculous like that and they went for it. It took us years to pay off, but no interest!
ANYWAY, long story short, hopefully the hospital will work with you. As long as you're up-front they tend to be ok... And that really sucks about your insurance. Blech. Bastards.
Clearly I'm having them as I went from 1 to 3cm in a week. I'd rather just have my water break and get to the hospital then wait around until my kid basically falls out of me since I fail and don't know what my body is doing.
This is exactly what happened to me. Couldn't feel contractions, was miraculously dilating, water broke in a big gush and I said "THANK GOD" because I was worried I wouldn't know I was in labor till ya know, the baby was there! FWIW my contractions ended up feeling more like menstrual cramps than anything else. Nothing timeable though.
Screwed up the quote box, but this is what I've been feeling for the last week or so. Not timeable, but feels like the longest PMS ever.
^^this. random PMS-y cramps for days now, but nothing I can time. LO is past EDD, so I'd love something concrete to go with here! Pregnancy is long, but the last few days of waiting, waiting, waiting are really long!
We had a looooooong night of fussing and no sleep... Luckily, our newborn photog posted this teaser on Facebook of our little beach bum baby that reminded me why being so freakin tired is worth it! It makes me laugh every time I see it!
I am mad, angry, seriously pissed off, and my heart is breaking for all of the June mom's who never got to take their babies home with them. And the same goes for those babies who are sick and in the hospital! I can't and will not complain that I am over my due date, because each day I carry my daughter is a blessing. I don't know how these women have the strength they do to get out of bed in the morning. I've been a crying mess since I read about baby Kolt and what baby Gabe CDK are going through. My heart aches for them and all of the other June 2014 angel babies moms. Ladies, you have my utmost respect and continuous prayers! May God watch over all of you and help you stay strong! Prayers as well for every other June mom that has yet to deliver. I pray for healthy babies for each and every one of you! Creepy internet hugs to all!

@StrawberryDreams219 I'm really sorry, that sucks. At least of she was changed quickly, the rash should go away quickly? Try a little baking soda in her tub tonight and remind yourself that you are doing awesome!!
I've been having regular contractions ranging from 5-8 minutes apart since waking up this morning. They've been stronger than normal so I'm really hoping they keep up! I'll be doing lots of waking this weekend.
@StrawberryDreams219, Hugs LB! Setbacks happened with both of my kids while potty training. Wonder if her digression has anything to do with her impending sibling. Could be a stress thing and this is how she's reacting. Hang in there!
@otter1103 we had Penny Layne Photography do her newborn pics. She had the cutest portfolio and it wasn't too horribly expensive. She has a studio off of 96th and Q. She spent 4 hours with us on Monday and I can't wait to see the rest! Check out her Facebook page! It's adorable!
@emilyh107 - I would def make an appt and talk to a doc about it. I am FTM but worked in an ob office and they don't mess around with PPD. Better safe than sorry for sure. Sorry you are having a rough time, hugs!!
@emilyh107 I'm so sorry you are dealing with this! From how we gauge this at our hospital it depends on how long this has been happening. "Baby Blues" are normal for up to week after birth but if it's been more than two weeks, you are having thoughts of harming yourself or your child (totally realize this wasn't implied at all) or you are having trouble just getting out of bed in the morning then it's maybe something more. It sounds like you have had a longer duration so I would maybe say something to your OB. It's always better to seek help and not need it than to not seek it out and suffer. PS I'm a FTM but I've been in maternal-fetal research for years so that's where I'm coming from. Good luck!

On an unrelated note... read this article, and now I'm glad I have two stinky dogs in my house, to match my stinky husband!
