  • So many people are texting me asking how I'm feeling, I have started sending them a picture of @lizardbreath14 's gorilla...

I've been getting those texts and phone calls too. Plus a daily text from my best friend asking if I've had him yet..

I know a few of you ladies were/are eating dates or Lara bars... But why exactly? There's a fruit orchard not too far from me with delicious date milkshakes and I'm trying to convince H to take me there.
  • @ElTrain5‌ My LB is famous!! :) Hang in there. I know you're feeling frustrated with being told what you can't do, but soon you might have days where you literally can't do anything else cause LO just wants mommy snuggles. Focus on that :)

  • So DH and I were planning on going to a baseball game in August. LO would be 2 months, we'd wear her the whole time, I'm allowed to bring in a cooler so having BM wouldn't be a problem and it would be a night game (so it would be warm, but the sun wouldn't be beating down). And we'd buy some baby ear plugs in case the noise seems to bother her. My mom thinks this is a horrible idea, but things I've read online say its usually no big deal. Just curious if any STM+s have done this or something similar or why you think this is an awful idea. Just looking to get some feedback because I'm a FTM and obviously have no experience bringing children anywhere! We haven't ordered tickets yet (and we'll be able to pick our seats too which is nice).

@kbellizio3‌ My SIL took my niece to a baseball game she was 3 or 4 weeks. Just wore the whole time and fed her when needed. NBD. I'm also planning on taking LO to a baseball game or two this summer.

Also, my brother just got an eight week old puppy and informed me that he wil be bringing her when he comes to meet the baby.

Awesome, @ricecakes1216‌. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs, but... awesome.

  • @lest12‌ I agree. I love dogs, I have a dog. But bringing an eight week old puppy to my home right after I have a baby...in your words...awesome.

  • @ugabamafans‌ My H said that he will be calling my brother. They're very good friends so he has no problem telling him no. For some reason I can't be the bad guy when it comes to my brother. Even my sister, who is incredibly insistent on bringing her dogs everywhere, has made arrangements to leave them at home.

Yea no I wouldn't be ok with an 8 week old puppy either.

The funny thing is we're going camping with my parents three weeks prior to the baseball game...with the baby. So I don't know if my mom is convinced it's too "dirty" at the stadium or what (which it isn't, Camden Yards is a gorgeous stadium) or if she's too "young", which is dumb because she'll be younger during the time we're camping. But thanks girls! I appreciate the feedback!

@ricecakes1216‌ - I think you having a dog kind of makes it that much worse... Introducing dogs can be a little chaotic and a whole 'thing' - nevermind bringing another dog into your dog's space while there's that whole baby thing going on. Do you have a good yard?

Oh, that's a good point! I never thought of that, I'm going to bring that up. We have a decent yard but there is a hole in the fence, too small for my dog to get out but big enough for an exploring puppy. So she'd have to be inside. I'm glad I'm not being irrational about it. I immediately felt anxiety when he text me.

  • @ricecakes1216‌ ask that they bring a stake for it. My bil bring his dog over all the time but he has a stake that screws into the ground and has a long leash attached so the dog can explore but not get away. Its awesome, because we don't have dogs and our house is not set up for one at all.

@ricecakes1216‌ - Not irrational at all! Something similar but different came up with us and MIL's dog. I couldn't even wrap my head around it!

But they're dog is super hyper and gets anxious when left alone... and we don't have a good yard for another dog for a few reasons. So it just wasn't going to work. Lily's idea of the state or a run might work though? Good luck either way.

Also I'm just going to add that I think people don't realize or forget how stressful the idea of a newborn can be. It's crazy but sometimes they need a reminder!

  • @lilygrace48 congrats!! Gotta be nice to get some sleep :)
  • When SO and I were in our first place together, a crappy, save-money type apartment, a freak thing happened: the ceiling fan fell out of the ceiling. It was off; I was sitting on the sofa and I think he was in the bathroom and the thing just fell for no damn reason. This has been nearly 4 years ago and my rational side says the odds of it happening again are 1 in (some crazy high number). But I can't get past it enough to sleep / allow DD to sleep under a fan :(

I'm having a total SS day. I fell earlier and broke the fall with my hands, but definitely hit my stomach. Called the dr and spent 4 hours in l&d being monitored. Everything looked fine, but I've barely felt any movement all night, so I called and they told me to come back in.

DH just jumped in the shower and I felt 2-3 strong movements. Now I don't know what to do. I'm tired and don't want to spend all night there unnecessarily but... you know... I'm scared.

I called and she said if it felt normal, I might just be ok. I haven't felt any more movement though. It's like he's screwing with me!

I just drank another glass of juice and I'm going to give it a half hour, then go in if I don't feel anything.

Ugh. Thanks! Have I mentioned this was my 3rd fall in 2-3 weeks? I might not get out of bedanymore

  • @shannonliggett‌ I got the baby a onesie that says "I'm your Father's Day gift. Mom says you're welcome." Hope both the onesie and baby will be here. I'm also putting together a little gift basket with a children's book about a father and son that he can read to the baby, a good beer, his favorite coffee and some snacks. Nothing too exciting but enough to acknowledge the day.

  • @shannonliggett‌ I made a shadow box with one of ds's footy pajamas that said "Daddy's Rookie". And in the background I had a handful of pics of DH with DS. Then I added some letters that said "happy father's day" and "father and son" above one of their pics together. I also got some 3D decorations like a bat and glove...
  • @lest12 good luck! Hopefully nothing but a sleepy LO :)

Thanks! I got enough movement to put my mind at ease tonight, but when I called to follow-up with my doctor today and they asked if I wanted to come in just to check things out again, I jumped at the chance.

Everything is fine :)  I mentioned the lack of movements and dr did say that they start having more napping cycles during these last few weeks.

The nurse and DH have decided I should be strapped down to the bed until the baby comes, though, to stop all the clumsiness :)

Fwiw, I spent the last few days of inside baby panicking because he slowed down so much (right around 39 weeks). Everything was just fine, he just started napping more but it freaked me out.

  • @shannonliggett- I ordered the t-shirt below from Etsy.  My version says 2014.  I wanted to get this onesie, but I was scared that she might not be here to wear it.  I already purchased my Father's Day cards (one from me, one from LO) and put them in my hospital bag. He got a picture frame at one of the showers.

This is my due date too, I made a onesie that says "I am Daddy's present" and I want her to be able to wear it for his very first Father's Day!
