I'm sure everyone is as tired as I am of hearing the dumb comments regarding our August due dates. "Oh, you planned that one real well. Chuckle, chuckle!" And, "It's going to be soooo hot. I couldn't do it." And, "How will you survive the heat?"
So let's list why having an August baby is Bomb.com. I'll start:
1) Less chance of your baby catching a cold or the flu in those crucial first few weeks.
2) Because August sucks balls anyway, so you might as well be ten months pregnant and in labor. Why would you want to be miserable (and sober) during fabulous weather while everyone else is having fun? Pass.
3) Two words: snow cones
What else you got?!
Re: Why Having an August Baby is Bomb!
I was going to say "Because I was less concerned about giving birth in the 'right' month and was just focusing on getting pregnant ..... asshole."
ETA: This would be in response to the "You didn't plan that well!" comments.
I wear those all year though.
Floating in the pool with this giant belly feels amazing... and you can't get that kind of relief in January (at least if you have an outdoor pool).
BFP 12.13.13. Baby Girl EDD 8.21.14.
For me personally, I don't get outside much in the summer to ride my horses, so at least I'm not missing out on that. So that's a bonus for me.
It's completely acceptable to stay inside in the dark and cool and NOT get wrangled in to helping friends move (why do people move in the summer?!). Or, really get wrangled in to doing ANYTHING.
Ice cream. 'Nuff said.
Floating my fat belly in my baby pool is totally acceptable.

Birthday parties outside are sooo much easier than fitting everyone in the house for a winter baby.
Not worrying about flu season when little one is so little and everyone wants to hold the new addition.
With no holiday in August we needed something to make it special.
Who wouldn't want to raise a Leo (or virgo)?
I live in the northeast. I'd rather have my baby in the summer than the winter. I'd be freaking out that I'd go into labor during a horrible snowstorm.
Plus...my oldest was born in June. I didn't feel any hotter being pregnant than I did not pregnant. I think the whole being miserable pregnant in summer thing is overrated.

Well, I have to go through August because I am due at the very end. Flip flops are nice ( I already wear the heck out of mine anyways), no yard work or anything outside and H can't say anything about it.
For later down the road I am excited to have a birthday to celebrate a birthday in warm weather! H and myself have birthdays in January. I remember growing up I could never have the cool warm parties like my friends did. Maybe LO will love the water as much as H and I and we can throw him pool parties!
I'd much rather be wearing comfy summer dresses and flip flops then jackets and boots.
Also, I get to enjoy beautiful weather day after day until this precious LO comes.

I'm due at the end of August though so suffering is what I get to do...
2. I've been outdoors much more this time around verses the April baby so I feel like I have kept my physical activity up and feel more in shape.
3. Having a spring baby meant being in my second trimester during Thanksgiving and Christmas. I ATE SO MUCH. SO MANY REGRETS. Now I don't have the holidays as an excuse.
2. Swimming. nuf said
3. August is hot and sticky in VA so it's a great excuse to stay inside with the baby.
4. Will be able to drink wine again just in time for all the fall wine festivals
5. NFL games start in September
6. My youngest brother will be home from college for a couple months so I can have a little extra help around the house when DH has to go out of town for work.
7. like a PP said, baby halloween costumes are super adorable.
8. time to try to get crafty and try some stuff from Pinterest before the holidays so you know what will turn out and what will look like crap and end up on a Pinfail page.
It's the slow season for convention work which means I can "work from home", with ice cream and flip flops!
I say ALL OF THE ABOVE to this thread. Flip flops, no layers, trips to DQ & Kiwi Kraze, swimming at the lake, future summer birthday parties...
This upcoming Christmas, we plan to travel with baby. She'll be a hearty 5 months, so she should be fine.
