For each of the past two nights, Sivan has slept for a stretch of 5-5.5 hours. Two nights ago, I figured it was a blip, there was no way she'd do it again. Bam, last night, 5.5 hours.
And now I, the idiot that I am, worries that my child is sleeping too much.
So, after talking with my doctor yesterday, I told work yesterday that next Thursday would be my last day. So, obviously, I need to answer every question and do everything.single.last.thing before I go. People have been sending me a million meeting requests. I literally had to change a few of them because - guess what - I'm 38 weeks pregnant and I'M GOING TO TAKE MY LUNCH BREAK.
Guys, this is only ONE week before I was planning on being out anyway. Also, be happy I'm still here at all! Half of J14 has already had their babies - I could have been one of them!
I have a fear my water will break either while I'm in the shower or going to the bathroom and I won't know it. Please tell me I'll know when my water breaks (if it does..)!

An opportunity for a promotion has come up at work and I'm really torn on applying. On the one hand, promotion, money, yay! On the other hand, it's more travel and time spent away from my babies, boo! I'm 99% sure I'm not going to apply for this go-round, especially since I'm not 100% sure I'm going to continue working long after this.
@katekat8721 - I think you should apply! You might interview and feel a totally different way, one way or another. You don't HAVE to take it if you don't get a good vibe from it - but don't count yourself out, either!
I got a call for a job interview this morning! K-5 Art Teacher in the district that I want! Interview is scheduled for next Tuesday (4 days before my due date AND my 8th wedding anniversary).
OF COURSE this happens when I'm 9 months pregnant! I am so excited but also super nervous that I'll go into labor and miss the interview or they won't think I'll be ready to start school because of baby and pass me over. And of course I have nothing to wear to an interview!
Any suggestions on interviewing while 9 months pregnant?
GAH! SO excited and so nervous! Just like being pregnant!
@ugabamafans and @rachel5130- Do you think I'll get the job if I reference Tommy Boy in the interview? Not sure I'd want to work for a place that wouldn't hire me for that. and thanks for the well-wishes!
During delivery, will you/did you use a mirror to look at baby coming out? I hear I may get that option. My first instinct is no I don't want to see that, but my friend (who delivered in the same hospital) said it helped her push when she could see the progress. Hadn't thought of that, but she may have a point.
When I was told I could reach down and feel my baby's head (while the rest of his body was still inside me) I declined... I was scared. So I'm thinking I might be scared to look too.
@chersomething My hospital does offer mirrors, but I'm planning to decline them. I can understand how some people might feel motivated by seeing progress, but I know myself and I think it would have the opposite effect on me, especially if I tear or need an episiotomy.

My mom is going to take pictures. I figure that way I can look later if I want to. Mental note to remind her to turn off the flash. That shit is distracting as hell.
Also, as for touching the head, it didn't appeal to me either, but I keep reading birth stories and when women mention touching the head they say they got an "extra rush of energy" to push baby out. So I might give that a go.
@CherSomething i wasnt offered this time because it went so fast and my eyes were screwed pretty slightly shut (I think I was still in denial it was all happening...). I did get offered with C and declined, and then my midwife put on her glasses and I could see it all anyway. It was odd, but not terrible. If you don't like what you see, they can always take it away again!
I planned a nice last pre-baby dinner out for DH and I at a fine dining restaurant in the area for Friday night. I've been told by many people that means I'll go into labor before then. We'll see! Either I'll be having some awesome scallops and crab cakes, or I'll be having a baby. Either way, I'm good!
This is what we have planned to do tomorrow night exactly! Make plans so baby will break them!
We are doing this on Saturday night, our last date night
katekat8721- Apply for the job! Like PP mentioned, you can always decline it later.
jwarnerb- Good luck with your interview. You'll look fabulous in whatever you wear beacuse you're an art teacher! You're expected to have a little more flair.
skamber- I think this is a great idea. I'm going to make reservations for us next week!
Tomorrow is my birthday! I think it would be cool if DD decided to make her appearance and we could share :-D. Somehow I don't think she'll come tomorrow though, so we're going out to dinner for my bday/last date night. We're going with my ILs too since FIL is going out of the country for 2 weeks on Saturday, so it'll be an early Father's/Grandfather's day since he'll probably miss her birth.
Clearly I'm having them as I went from 1 to 3cm in a week. I'd rather just have my water break and get to the hospital then wait around until my kid basically falls out of me since I fail and don't know what my body is doing.
This is exactly what happened to me. Couldn't feel contractions, was miraculously dilating, water broke in a big gush and I said "THANK GOD" because I was worried I wouldn't know I was in labor till ya know, the baby was there! FWIW my contractions ended up feeling more like menstrual cramps than anything else. Nothing timeable though.
I feel ya. I'm not even 40 weeks and I feel like that. I never thought id be one of those people. I had this naive idea i would somehow embrace the last few weeks of pregnancy, happily going past term.....WTF was I thinking?
@CherSomething I had the option to look using a mirror but I decided not to... they asked right when his head was visible so I didn't get much time to think about it before answering lol However, they also asked if i wanted to feel his head and for whatever reason I said yes and felt! So cool/weird/interesting!

@ricecakes1216, I heard that only 25% of women have their water break, so I'm terrified I'm just not going to know!
Or I'm going to wait too long to go to the hospital. My sister couldnt' feel any of her contractions with either kid and was 5 cm dilated at her 39 week appts... I'm afraid I'm going to poop out a baby and just not realize it. Unlikely, but still.
Yes! I feel this way. Like right now, I'm trying to determine if I'm leaking or if it's just heavy discharge..as wonderful as that sounds. I'm pretty certain it's just discharge, but then I question myself. I read into everything so I have anxiety over this! I just know I'm going to have this kid on the side of the road because I took too long analyzing my symptoms. Or I'll be that crazy pregnant lady that goes in to L&D 25 times between now and when it really is labor..

Never had a period cramp in my life.
My sister was the same way. Never had a menstrual cramp. They didn't check her so no idea if she was dilating, but her water broke while she was asleep and contractions that she could feel started right after that. She still had a 13-15 hr labor. She described it more of "needing to pee really bad" feeling instead of period cramps.
@ricecakes1216 with my first, I felt a distinct pop but then it was a tiny trickle that I could easily have mistaken for extra discharge. This time no pop, but the sheer amount of the liquid was insane! You will know, and if not, your ob should have the test strips so you don't have to go all the way to l&d each time.
I had an internal check yesterday and holy cow, the PA (who I had never met) was ROUGH! I don't remember internals being that awful last time. And then I lost a bit of mucous plug this morning, I'm sure it's because she was manhandling me!
Sitting in the waiting room at L&D. BP was too high at weekly appt. and I randomly put on 6 lbs since last week's appt. Since sitting in waiting room my vision has been a little off and I'm getting a headache (that could be stress though) Thinking this may not be a false alarm this time... midwife at clinic told me to be prepared for induction. :-S
