Our twins arrived very VERY early

Hi all,
I am still in the hospital and will be a couple more days. Our sons were born totally unexpectedly on Tuesday. My water broke early that morning and I began contracting. The doctors in L & D tried to stop labor but were unable to- I dilated to a 6 in 2 hours. They did an emergency c section and both boys were born weighing 2lbs 10oz. They are doing as well as can be expected given their extreme prematurity. We had no indication this might happen because pregnancy had been basically uneventful. We are hoping their long stay in the NICU will be smooth and that they can eventually catch up with their peers down the road. The NICU they are at is completely amazing and we know they are receiving the very best care possible. We are scared and trying to stay positive. Please send your positive thoughts our way if you can.

A & K, married 7/1/13.

After 10 months of ttc via medicated IUIs and two early losses, we finally got our boys- Perfect premie twins born 5/27/14.

    Oh my goodness!

How are you feeling after what must've been a stressful delivery?

We will be thinking of you both and sending you good, calming thoughts for your NICU experience. I am glad it has been good for you both so far, and

I hope your boys do well and pack on the weight without any surprise developments in there. 2lbs 10oz seems small compared to a term baby, but also part of me says that also seems like a great weight considering how early they are - good job there mama!

Sending all four of you positive thoughts for your well being and the journey ahead. Please feel free to post or PM with any need to talk.

Wow!!  First of all congratulations on your sons.  I'm really glad to hear that they are in great hands, and are nearly 3lbs as @2Mamaz mentioned.  I'll be sending you and your family lots of positive thoughts.  Hopefully your boys will be home with you soon after growing just a little more.

I'd love to see pictures of your little guys when you want to share. I'm sure they're both tiny and precious.  Sending you and your wife huge HuGs too since I'm guessing their surprise arrival left you both rattled.

The lads are 28 weeks. They have a stronger fighting chance than what I had back in '69 (I was born at 29 weeks and was 2# 14oz) and my youngest brother was born in '88 (weight 1# 14oz, born at 26 weeks). Lots of positive and strong healing thoughts! Grow little guys! You both are warriors!
