TKT17 I was at the doller store and saw this flying saucer thing that had plastic cover on it i cute the material off and used the inside which was a tube of styraphome plastic tube and a wire inside. it took a bit to find something but i looked around and used my imagination at the doller stores lol
I sewed a bunch of receiving blankets but in a bigger size ( about 1yd) I wanted thinner blankets for summer too since she's going to be here in the middle of July! And I also did some canvas art for her room!
@tkt17, they sell large metal hoops at a lot of hobby/craft stores that people use for dream catchers. They have rounded sides instead of the embroidery hoop ones.
I went to my Happiest Baby on the Block class last night and now I am inspired to make my own swaddle blankets. Freakin' Aden & Anal Anais swaddle blankets are ridiculously expensive. So I asked the instructor if I could make my own. She said all I would need is cotton gauze fabric that's 44x44 inches.
Went on Pinterest and found this tutorial and I am in love. She makes it look so easy. I'll post pics of mine when they are finished.
At my baby shower, the guests made tie-dye onesies! They came out soooo cute.
@samounthak, just keep in mind that making them yourself may not be that much less expensive (plus time) than buying them... I know you're the master couponer, but I think (with a 40% off coupon), I paid about $4.50 for the gauze (Joann was the cheapest place to find it), plus I needed to make it pretty, so $4 for the stamp pad, and about $4 for the stamp itself. Granted, if I wanted them all to be the same pattern (or if anybody wants penguins), they would be cheaper, but... just to keep that in mind.
I do plan on getting a couple more stamps (and some fabric markers) to do additional ones... because they're pretty darn cute and then nobody shall have the same as meeee!!
@alyssa719 yeah the costs can add up if you plan to make them pretty! But I have the leftover dye from my baby shower that the hostess gave to me so I'll probably dye them with that. I also have fabric paint from other projects in the past and plan to make my own stamps lol
If I didn't have any of those things, then I would agree that it can get pretty costly if you decide to make them yourself.
I LOVE your little penguin swaddle! So cute and they're my fave animal
This is my most recent stuff that I have made for LO. The first pic is a sun dress that I appliquéd for baby girl and I made a pacifier clip out of beads that my mom made to match. My son has a coordinating shirt with an octopus on it and I plan to let them wear these home from the hospital. The second picture is the gown that I made for her to wear first. We are not announcing her name until the birth, so this is what we will use to tell everyone.
I just finished up my baby girl's baby blanket that I crocheted and daddy finished his custom wall frame around her name. There's so much I want to do but I'm trying to be reasonable with my expectations of myself. I think I may try a baby hat/booties next :x
Me, husband and DD1 (and her teddy bear) all have Christmas stockings that I made out of applique on felt so I need to come up with more designs for this baby (and her teddy bear) to start making them around October.
Also wanting to reupholster a chair to be our nursing chair but I've yet to find one I like. She's due in a month so this is is probably going to get put on hold!
Just made this for my niece- planning on making one for our LO too in the same style. My second quilt and I'm a fan of the strips vs squares because it's less cutting
Also made a crib skirt for LO. It's three separate pieces that are pinned to the bed board so it can be adjusted to go up higher as the mattress goes down. Thank you Pinterest for the idea.
Made a fresh cover for a hand-me-down Boppy today. It doesn't match the nursery but I love the fabric and figure it will not just be in the nursery anyways.
I finally finished my curtains and quilt! Now that school is out, I am toying with the idea of using my fabric scraps from the quilt and taggie animals to make some soft blocks. We'll see….
edit: well apparently the pictures didn't attach. I really thought I was computer literate.
