Getting you lady parts waxed.

I am getting waxed this pregnancy. It's way to hard to maintain down there when there's a bump blocking your view. I have never gotten a bikini wax though. What's N14 thoughts? Bikini Line, Brazilian? Does is really hurt? Before and after tips? I'm excited but super nervous.

They are not fun but it is tolerable. If you do them all the time( which I don't) apparently it gets less painful. I wouldn't start with a Brazilian. Those are more painful. Often they will do more than the bikini line but less than a Brazilian. That's what I have typically done.

  • I have super sensitive skin and have gotten a Brazilian wax twice. The first time went alright ( although it was painful :/) just make sure to get a lotion or cream meant for after waxing. The second time was worse...the top layer of skin pulled off with the hair and I ended up having a thin layer of scabs all over my vagina. I would maybe start with bikini line and see how it goes? My DH has agreed to pay for me to get lasered so I don't have to deal with this again :)

  • I do an in between as well. I told my waxer last time about the pregnancy, and she mentioned she has a wedge for later on if it's uncomfortable for me to lay on my back. It's not so bad. :)

This. Don't start with a Brazilian. The anal will hurt more if you go that far back. The area between the vagina and the ass-ouch.

I suggest lots of moisturizer afterwards too.

have you ever done laser before? i did a bunch of times, underarm and brazilian and that shit HURTS!! granted everyone is different and it depends on your skin tone and hair texture and some friends of mine say it' not that bad. i know I'm kind of a wuss but just a word of warning. I've never been waxed down there so i can't compare. good luck!

  • If you're getting a wax on your sensitive parts make sure they use hard wax. It dries hard and you just peel the wax off, it also only takes off a layer of dead cells so it won't leave you raw. The soft wax is like eyebrow wax, you need the strip to remove it. Soft wax takes off live and dead cells so it was leave the area raw for days.

  • I say just go for the brazilian, but I've never had a bikini wax, so I can't speak to that. I've only gotten brazilians and they are definitely painful, but I think they're worth it. I hate shaving. I agree about taking Tylenol before.

  • I just got a brazilian today but I got them fairly frequently before. My estition warned me that it would hurt more than usual because of the increased blood to the area. She was right, but luckily I kinda got numbed out after a while.

As some of the ladies have suggested, take Tylenol and also go in hydrated. The hydration helps with the hair coming out more easily.

    Good luck!

I get a Brazilian about every 6 weeks for the past 2 years. This is only because I have an amazing friend, work at a spa, get a discount, and she can do everything in 15 minutes painlessly.
I had one bad experience from someone else who took about an hour and a half....oh my ow.
My advice is get someone experienced, a referral if you can. Start with bikini if you're nervous, but don't be scared. Read a magazine or play on your phone to take your mind off of it too.
Eta: they should put something on for soothing after, and recommend a good product for home care too!
  • I'm going for a Brazilian on Saturday! I only do them once a year before vacation. It sucks but I love it once it's done.
  • I had one a few months ago. No thanks. Not worth the pain. I will shave blindly again. And the white bumps that happen two days later! Gross. So not worth the $50 for me.

No input from me. I'm more afraid of someone going at my nether region with wax than I am of childbirth.
This. I'm a waxing virgin but I have been thinking about it if it gets too unmanageable down there. I'm scared to think about it!  :-SS

White bumps shouldn't happen...sounds like maybe they waxed the same places multiple times? :(
It definitely takes a skilled person to wax that area properly
  • I used to get bikini waxes all the time.   Here's my little bit of input.  Make sure you go to someone good.  I found a place on Groupon. it was very clean I felt fine going there. but I am pretty sure the girl just broke the hair instead of getting it at the root.  It grew back basically the same as if I had shaved. There is CERTAINLY no reason to put yourself through that if it's just going to grow back in a couple days.

  • I got a Brazilian right before I got married. Oh my goodness, it hurt. I am pretty sure I had a really good esthetician,as she was very fast and professional, but there was definitely a lot of pain. I too would agree to start with a bikini wax. Ease your way into it.

As much as the Brazilian was painful, I will say that it was very nice during the honeymoon in Hawaii. I might actually consider getting another one done before vacation as it was great to not worry about any stray hairs with all the bathing suit wearing.
  • I get occasional brazilian waxes. I go too long in between... Because they're just too expensive! Really I should go more often like every 4-6 weeks. First I tried the soft/hard wax method few times and got white bumps and itchy rashes. I got pretty fustrated. I decided to try sugaring and I barely got any white bumps and it went a lot faster! I healed so much faster and I enjoyed the smoothness longer.

I really need to go back. I feel so so overgrown but I just couldn't bear going back during the first trimester when I just felt so crappy. I didn't want to add on waxing pain on top of that. I'm thinking about texting my girl and make an appointment but am now nervous about extra pain due to the pregnancy. Yikes!

I go every 4-5 weeks for a Brazilian and I swear by it. My hair doesn't grow as thick down there now that I'm pregnant. Just make sure you keep up with it in a timely manner because waiting too long between makes them awful.

I highly recommend the European Wax Center if there's one close to you. They use hard wax, the multi pack waxes make each wax less expensive and make sure you get the ingrown hair serum.

I got a Brazilian wax done for my wedding first time any wax down below;). It was somewhat painful but not to bad, I figured if I could tweeze down there it would be the same. The only sucky part was the regrowth. It was like every damn hair decided to get ingrown and I do remember some white bumps days later. Went to a spa, very professional, and they used the hard wax. Kinda on the fence on whether I would do it again.

  • I get a Brazilian wax every 4-6 weeks and absolutely love it. I take two extra strength Tylenol like PP mentioned and it helps tremendously. Also, if you don't focus on the pain and concentrate on something else, it doesn't hurt that bad.

As PP stated, make sure you go somewhere that has HARD wax!! Soft wax is terrible down there. The hard wax is peeled off of your skin so it only takes the hair and dead skin. The soft wax can burn and irritate the skin.

I go to UltraSkin to have mine done. I'm pretty sure it's a national company. If you have one in your area, I would recommend them.

    Good luck!!!

  • I have been doing Brazilian waxes for a couple years now. The longer the hair the more it hurts. Never thought to take Tylenol before so thanks ladies for that advice. Last time I did it about 3 weeks ago it burned after which has never happened before, but I figured it had something to do with me being pregnant. As everyone else said make sure it is a reputable place with a proper esthetician. I say go for it.
  • So I have never been waxed down there.....not really planning to,  but I have to ask,   do you just go in there,  strip down naked and lay there all naked,  with your bush just saying "Hi!  come get me!"  ?

Seems like such an uncomfortable situation......gawd, I am not looking forward to everyone focused on my vaginal area in November......eeeek!

I just cleaned mine up this morning in the shower with a razor.....and damnit its getting hard to see past this stomach of mine!       I am really considering the 70's bush......but I do still plan on swimming this summer,  I need some boy short bikini bottoms !!!   ;)

Haha.  Its just from the waist down, and like a massage, they leave you to get undressed and cover up with a spa wrap or towel.  But I am happy to have a friend who does it, so its not quite as awkward.
  • Will it become impossible to shave or can you manage with mirrors? Scared to wax but still want to be groomed. :|
  • Wax?! Not for ME! I tried once & that shit hurt like hellll! I will keep shaving and if I can't get down in there I told DH that will become one of his duties lol lol :D

I'm such a nudist so it doesn't really bother me. Like PP said, they give you time to undress and wrap up before they come in. Although, this one time the girl stood there and waited for me to drop my pants in front of her. That was awkward. Haha

  • This topic reminds me of a show that used to be on mtv. It was called engaged and under age. The girl let her mil wax that for her. I loved my mil very much, she was much more a mom to me than anyone else, but I would of NEVER let her wax my shit.

  • Lol @tarynleann‌ I remember what you're talking about!!

And actually @missnacholover‌ ....that is pretty much how it goes, now that you mention it!
  • I also used to use hard wax because the other can burn/remove your skin and leave you with raw patches. For the past few years I've done sugaring which I much prefer.
  • I have never waxed for two reasons 1) I think it's creepy to be totally bare. I'm not a child, and want men to embrace the bush. 2) I am mortified at the thought of anyone looking that closely at my lady parts. It honestly kinda kills me that DH ever looks at it, mostly because I keep a pretty clear "no zone" around the butt hole. I just don't think it's the most attractive part of my body.

All that being said, I've been thinking about getting something done because this pregnancy it's going crazy down there! I keep things tidy, but jeez it is spreading! I'm scared for bathing suit season. As much as I'm mortified at the though of someone seeing my whoo-ha, the thought of any random beach goer seeing my pubes all creeping out is worse.

(To be honest, I'm so embarrassed I just wrote all that I'm going to run away from this thread for a little bit)

I am wondering the same thing because I've never had a wax before either. I would think it would be really awkward. I don't think I could do it. I'm also not looking forward to a bunch of people focusing on my vaginal area in November, but we have no choice. Too bad you can't blur things in real life!! haha!

I purchase a lady trimmer from Walmart that came with different attachments as well as a guard for different lengths. It has come in super handy for when I want an almost razor shave without the razor burn. It's also nice because instead of going completely bare down there, I can use the guard to keep the bush under control. I've also used it for shaving my legs when I was feeling lazy! LOL! Ooooh, and it can also be used in the shower too. :) I recommend getting one, I have a feeling it's going to come in real handy when I get real big and can't see it anymore. I won't have to worry about cutting myself!

  • I want to get waxed, but I'm so afraid of the pain, so I think I'm going to start with the bikini line and legs and then the next time I go I'll probably get a Brazilian. Waxing makes everything so much more manageable. I hate shaving because it grows back so fast.
  • I just got my Brazilian yesterday and the pain was same as usual (only get one once a year before vaca). Didn't take any Tylenol and survived. My woman is awesome though...I was in and out in 15 min and didn't leave any hair...in front OR behind (in case you were wondering) ;p
