FFFC: I have wanted to change careers and become a high school teacher for a long time now and was planning on starting a fast-track career switcher program our state has to become one. After seeing the "I'm so over my job" post and all the sad comments of teachers hating their jobs, I'm rethinking this career path :( Now I'm lost.

What kind of car do you drive, Loo?
Vw golf TDI right now. I need to get a bigger car soon. Ugh.
The Toyota Sienna is currently the only minivan on the market to offer AWD. However, the next generation of Chrysler's Town and Country will offer it, too. We are in the market for a new car within the next 2 years and have researched ad nauseum on minivans and have test driven all of them. I hate to admit it, but I love them! However, since my Jeep is almost 10 years old if I stick with it for a few more years I can upgrade to something fancy, yet practical. That being said, the minivan option is always on the table.

I'm scared of how minivans handle snow. The fancy ones don't have AWD do they? If they did I'd be all over it. As long as they had good gas mileage because I just can't reconcile driving a gas guzzler for my own convenience.

I wonder that too. I think there are AWD ones. I won't EVER drive another car without AWD of 4WD. My first severe winter driving experience ended in me getting side swiped by a semi truck on a highway. I drove a sedan and it couldn't handle the slushy snow. I definitely could've died if it weren't for a freakish break in the oncoming traffic. Hence why I then went out and got a huge gas guzzling (sorry Loo, love me still please) 4 wheel drive suburban.

I STILL don't get the mini van hate tho. It's like you live in some weird alternate universe infested with Michelle Duggar look a likes driving vans? Hence your stigma about them being "uncool"

    YES.

I confess I'm too lazy to clean pump bottles and too cheap to buy more medela pump and save bags (because I have 500 lansinoh bags) so I rubber band the lansinoh bags to the flanges.
This seems like a bigger PITA than washing.  Especially since you're already washing the breast shields.

  • My Fffc: I feel like a huge weight would be lifted off my shoulders if I hired someone to clean my house once or twice a month. But I feel guilty doing this...so many other moms manage to keep a clean house with multiple kids, why can't I with just one? I get home from work, nurse the baby and play with her til bedtime then spend an hour at least picking up, cleaning and doing dishes. Even with all that I haven't deep cleaned anything in a long time :/

The Toyota sienna is the only one I would consider buying too because it has AWD. Some days I would love a minivan just for the doors when I'm wrangling the infant seat back in the car because someone parked too close to me.

Those other moms you know probably have a cleaning lady and don't tell anyone. ;)

This is nothing to feel bad about. The truth is you can't do it all no matter what they tell you out there. Hire a cleaning service.
I have a cleaning lady that comes once a month. It's totally worth it and I don't feel guilty about it one bit.
This! She comes every three weeks and I love her!

  • I've had a pixie hairstyle for 7 years. I got my usual cut last month and some chick at work said all knowingly "oh you gave in to the mom cut." Ummm.... Where the fuck have you been or what have you been looking at when you talk to me?
