  • DH comes home after being away for a training for 2 weeks. I'm partly sad because A. I won't be able to go to bed at 930 anymore and B. The house will be messy.

  • I'm actually finding it nice to be living with my parents right now.  I can get things done a little easier now, like going to the bathroom and making dinner, because I can just have my parents watch LO for a few minutes while I do what I need to do.  I really expected it to be much more uncomfortable but so far the worst thing has been having to share a full-size bed with DH.  Of course it has only been a week so we'll see how I feel about this whole arrangement in a few months.  I'm sure I'll be ready to run out the door by the time our new house is ready.

I don't blow dry my hair in the morning anymore because it might wake up C. I look like a hot mess, but she sleeps an extra hour or two.

I think I have blow dried and straightened my hair once since LO was born. I either braid it or throw it up in a bun.

My FFFC is that I don't know how to braid. I can barely get pigtails to look straight. I'm so screwed when I have to do DD's hair when it gets long enough.

Watch a YouTube tutorial! That's how I learned how to french braid.

  • LO's baptism is Sunday. Family descends tonight. I have nothing ready and I am planning on doing as little as possible to entertain and may even offload kids on family and go be alone for a few hrs tomorrow. This week at work. It's been terrible.

I drive a Ford and I like it, but I was afraid of getting flamed if I admitted that yesterday. Honestly, I don't think I would ever buy a luxury vehicle even if we could afford it- just NMS. My kids don't care if I'm driving a Ford, a BMW, or a Maserati- they're still going to puke in the car and grind goldfish crackers into the carpet. If we had the money to spend, I would probably put it toward a minivan with lots of perks.

THIS!! Actually DF and I are writing our own vows and his actually say "I will never let you drive a minivan no matter what you say" bc he knows I will be all "oh roomy" the first week then cry until I get an SVU the next

I used to say that too, but after watching my nephews and niece for the last 4 days and driving my SIL's Sienna... I've realized that minivans are very handy. I just can't hate it anymore.

I'm sure it is handy.  But gosh, I just can't.  I refuse to wear mom jeans, get a mom hair cut, or drive a mini van.  IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!!

Lol sure. You can still look hawt driving a mini van IJS

  • I plan on jetting out of the office in about 20 minutes because it's raining and I don't feel like getting caught in traffic later.  I have a ton of reading to complete and I'm more likely to get through it at home anyway.

Yesterday I got off work at 4.  Instead of picking up the kids from DC, DH and I went and had a nice dinner alone.  We had fajitas, and I had a couple margaritas.  I was like a mini-date :).  It was so nice that we decided to do it at least once a month.

We picked up the kids 10 minutes before closing time.
When does the crippling guilt pass for me to do this??

Around the time it becomes impossible to enjoy a meal with them.  Mommy just wants to eat her food before it gets cold and sit at the table and talk to another adult!

  • I want a minivan!! I have a new explorer and I'm short so I have to raise the kids so high to get in and out. As well as the stroller.

Also, getting the mom cut tomorrow and still wearing maternity jeans because they are comfy. Twins are 8 months old.

  • Awe. Kate. You are so cute.

Thanks! Seriously though, why can't you take a fucking joke? You know I'm just screwing with you. You give but can't take. That's like zero fun!

Is your oldest in a booster or is she big enough that she doesn't need one? (I can't tell by the picture.) I don't know what kind of truck you drive, but do you think it's big enough to fit three car seats across? DH wants a truck someday, but the way we're planning on spacing our kids would probably put us with three kids in car seats at the same time.

She's only 9, so she just got out of the 5 PT harness a few months ago. She's got several more years left in a booster. It is a Ford f150 super crew. Tons of backseat space. More backseat space than front seat space. You can very easily fit any three car seats back there, we had three on car seats for just a couple months.

That reminds me...some kid asked me why DD had to ride in the backseat and when she could ride in the front. Well kid, considering she's 50kbs and 50inches like never?
  • @lisa1129 I think she means like non-chic/non-trendy short hairstyles that look outdated being mom hair. I think there is a way you can go shorter, being a mom, but still look attractive. Just like there's a way you can wear non-low rise jeans and still look attractive. It's about style, not length or height, in the case of the jeans.

  • Oh man, I thought mom jeans were ones that were at least belly button high. Maybe I'm not in mom jeans just yet!

  • I've created a monster when it comes to LO sleeping. I used to wonder why people would say don't let LO eat and then sleep and now I totally get it. DS cannot self soothe.
My FFFC is I am considering the Ferber and extinction methods and hope to start soon.
I will be a total mess if DS continues waking up 3 to 4 times a night to eat during the summer when I am home with him all day.

I have a FFFC...  It is kind of a local thing though...  When someone tells me they are going on vacation at Myrtle Beach...  I judge them a little.

Why? I've always wanted to go there. Not really sure why but I just do.

It makes me think of rednecks... LOL

I have always wanted to go there! If that makes you think of rednecks..never visit south Alabama ;)

Yeah, that's probably fancy compared to Gulf Shores.

@kateva  What makes you favor one than the other?  Personality? Behavior? What?

My middle child and I just click. He is so impossibly sweet, thinks only of others and is into things I like. I stopped working after he was born and he's always been my little buddy. I think I'm feeling it more because I'm so sad he's going yo kindergarten in the fall. I think most parents have favorites and that favorite changes, but you still love them all the same (infinitely)

I'm right there with ya, lady. We started sleep training last week and then went out of town and everything got fucked up. So we have to start all over this weekend. Probably with extinction because checking on him gets him even more worked up than he was before.

Me three. We tried extinction CIO for a week and it didn't work. He's goes down fine at night but wakes 3-4 times to eat. I can deal with that but he also does not nap. Like at all. He snoozes in the car seat for about 20 minutes three to four times a day. I need a break. And a beer.
