I'm headed to SFO Sunday... it is a 4ish hour flight. I will be 25 weeks. I have a flight planned for mid July, at about 35 weeks to NOLA, which is about 2 hours. Last pregnancy, I flew to China and back and to Napa at the end of the 2nd Tri and it was fine. You should be fine with a short flight, provided you have no health issues. Just bring something to read to keep your mind off of the dinky plane.

Not to one up anyone on being confident on flying but I'll be flying for 30 hrs (from La to Denver to Tokyo to Singapore to Siem reap) at 28 weeks and back at 30. At 32 weeks I'm flying from LA to providence and back and at 35 I'm flying from LA to Nashville and back. I've been traveling my whole pregnancy. My doctor thinks I'm a cray but she's fine with it.
@Chicky0727 & @FrodaBaggins I'm sorry I'm late getting back to the party but I'd definitely be down for a meet-up. If we decide to get together in LA proper, I'm happy to find a sweet spot in the Silver Lake/Los Feliz area that would be comfy for us, either as 3rd tri-ers or moms with new babes!
I'm flying at 32 weeks from Seattle to Boston for a wedding and flew to San Francisco last weekend (26 weeks) with no problems.
@ShadowsRainFalls, besides insurance coverage, you also may need a doctors note and the airlines may or may not refuse to allow you to board. Most have policies specifically prohibiting women who are more than 36 weeks along from flying. It's probably worth looking into beforehand so you don't face unexpected hassles or get stranded away from home.

@kraft333@Chicky0727 oooh I have always wanted to go eat pizza at Masa in Echo Park/Silverlake! I think about it all the time!

@shevaCC I looked into airline policy before booking. Southwest says prior to 38 weeks, you can fly with them. Doesn't say anything about a doctor's note...Do you think they will not allow me to? I did purchase insurance on our tickets, but hoping I am not out of a bunch of money..Wasn't sure I needed to look into more than that
I haven't even told my OB I'll be flying at 37 weeks. Oops
Will your insurance cover you if you need medical attention? I was planning on flying back to PA for a wedding at 37 weeks but found out that if something happened my insurance wouldn't cover treatment because they consider anything that happens a month before your due date a foreseeable emergency.
@kcatboston How did you find that out? If something happens on the plane they wouldn't cover it..or if you were not in your home state?
@Chicky0727@kraft333 I agree! There are some ladies on the Los Angeles board here that are planning a meet up but they organized it for a place on the West Side and ain't nobody got time for driving over there!!
Lol! That is too true, plus I ain't gonna lie, but certain parts of LA scare me...the most I go into LA is the airport and to the fashion district for my work. That's it. I'm a big sissy when it comes to LA. Lol. Plus as I've found out when pregnant I get horrible road rage and I ain't got time to deal with LA traffic...I can barely handle our little traffic jams here at home!
Still we should do a small meet up (maybe Santa Barbara area...or something like that)....at some point...maybe after babies are born. I need more mom friends...err rather friends in general. All my friends moved out of CA. Bitches.

I would be down for an SB area meet up! I grew up there, and my parents still live there so we visit a lot. Currently in San Diego county.
As to the OP- I flew cross country by myself around 28 weeks last pregnancy, it was MUCH more enjoyable than the 13 hour drive from SC to NY I took to visit DH's family a couple weeks later. That was pure misery, my feet were so swollen on the return trip
I am traveling at 31/32 weeks & will definitely be on a tiny plane. Just plan to get up and walk around as much as I can. Doctor is fine through 34 weeks.
My TTC Journey:

Clomid with TI - BFN (February 2012)
Injectables (Menopur) - hyperstimulated/canceled (March 2012)

IVF - OHSS (transfer canceled), but 11 frozen! (June 1012)
FET - 1 transferred on 8/09/12. Beta#1 (11dp5dt): 350.3; Beta#2: 365; Beta#3: 157. Biochemical pregnancy.
FET # 2 - 1 transferred on 11/01/12. Beta#1 (11dp5dt): 337; Beta#2: 769. BFP!!! 1st ultrasound 11/28/12 showed heartbeat, but measuring 5 days behind. 2nd ultrasound 12/05/12 - miscarriage.

Of 14 mature eggs, 10 fertilized, 4 made it to Day 5 & 1 made it to Day 6. We did PGS on the Day 5 embryos, and 3 of 4 were normal. Had ET on 11/17. Beta #1 (8dp6dt): 203. Beta #2 (10dp6dt): 618. We since had two ultrasounds & on 12/19, our RE released us to the OB. On 1/02/14, we had our first ultrasound with the OB where we heard the heartbeat. We are so thankful for the blessing & crossing every finger & toe for a healthy & successful pregnancy.

Normally they would cover urgent care/emergency services out of network but my insurance specifically excludes pregnancy and labor & delivery costs within a month of your due date. I handle the insurance at my office and just noticed it in the new coverage document. It was under the out of network coverage section.
My luck I would go into labor & get stuck with the full bill so no trip for me
Slightly new POV: Just got back from a few days in Sacramento & had a terrible experience on the flight back. My coworker and I were late for our flight and only center seats were left (no seat assignments on Southwest). Folks didn't want me to take the empty seat next to them so they avoided eye contact & no one (including the flight attendant) offered to help me with putting up my bag. Meanwhile said flight attendant was barking at me to hurry up and sit because it was time to go. I ended up having to lift my own heavy roller bag, sitting in the middle between two men and crying conspicuously through the entirety of takeoff.
So, my advice: - Have someone with you to help out, or be prepared to ask for help the moment you step onboard. - Be early! - Ask to pre-board. - Book the aisle seat if you have that option.
I am flying a bunch next week at 28 weeks and again at 30. Then that will be it for me. I'm nervous as a FTM but all trips are to see family and my doc didn't hesitate to ok it. I always give her a heads up at the appt before I travel. Reading all the replies makes me much less nervous!
I'm 28 weeks and have been flying non-stop for about 2 months. I have several more work trips planned requiring flying with the last flight being June 30 which is exactly 30 days prior to my c-section. Assuming everything stays normal, I don't see a problem with flying. My flights are usually about 3-3.5 hours in duration.

I'm flying at 32 weeks, which I'm sure will be much more pleasant than my 1st trimester flights! Started throwing up as soon as the plane took off the first time I flew pregnant, it was miserable!
