  • My boss of 12 years left today. Although I wish him much luck with his future endeavor. I hate to see him go. In that 12 years we saw each others family's grow and went through the ups and downs of my department and the company. I'm just a sad Panda over this.

  • @Babywear‌ hugs. I know how you feel. DH is OOT this week. He travels all the time and usually I am fine but this time is hard. I don't want to be clingy but I want him to stay here.

  • Me: Wait until I have a one month old, then ask me that again (about a new game he wants me to play with him)
DH: I'm not so sure that's a good idea.
Me: Well, I'll be more comfortable and less bitchy.
DH: Well, you'll be more comfortable...
Me: Hysterical laughing because I know he has no idea how that sounded on this end.  I love that man, he's such a fucking douche sometimes and has no idea.

So an older male coworker of mine came by my cube and said he can't make the shower so the friday before he wants me to follow him to walmart and pick out a stroller. He followed with "don't pick no cheapie" and "I'm not taking no for an answer" then left. Here's the rub. I don't want one and intend to babywear but im really bad at confrontation so I don't know how to tell him that. My original idea was walk into walmart and grab a baby carrier but I don't think they sell any non crotch danglers at mine. Ugh. Even receiving gifts is stressing me out.
Whoa. Seems like a big thing for a coworker to buy for you. Could you just turn around and return it without telling him? Or, tuck it away somewhere. It might come in useful some day!

@hampire‌ tell him that although you appreciate the amazing gesture, you have an aunt (or whatever) that bought one already. If he would like to do something fantastic you could always use a gift card for diaper/gear/whatever.... Or be honest and say you don't plan on using a stroller but rather (xyz carrier) and show him it online. Maybe he would prefer to order it and have it shipped to you?

Tough spot! That's nice of him but at the same time... dude! I'd go, pick out a stroller, say thank you and yadda yadda, and then return it later for store credit to buy other baby stuff later.

If you don't babywear all the time then I'd recommend the snap and go stroller when they're itty bitty. You just put your infant car seat into the frame and it makes a really lightweight easy stroller. We plan to babywear a lot but still got the double snap and go just in case.

  • I'm headed to L&D to get checked out :( My legs/feet/hands have been really bloated this past week, so DH took my blood pressure last night and it was a little high. I called my OB this morning and they said to go to the hospital to get checked out. i'm a FTM, so I'm pretty nervous. I don't really have many girlfriends, so I guess I just wanted to vent...

DH is in court until 2:30, so my mother is on her way here to take me. Hope it's nothing! Anyone know what I can expect once I get there?

@hampire, I would try being honest because it's always way more awkward when you get caught in a lie later (or just having to keep up the lie if he asks how you like the stroller).  I'd go with something simple like "That is so generous of you, thank you!  We are actually not planning to use a stroller at all because we're going to baby wear, but if you'd still like to get us a gift, I can point out one of the slings we'd like to use."

If he's really persistent about the stroller though (which I could picture as the older generation is probably less open to baby wearing), then you can pick one for "just in case we need a stroller", return it, and buy something else.  At least in this scenario, if he asks you about the stroller, you can just say you haven't had the opportunity to use it yet because you are still babywearing, so it's not as much of a straight out lie.
  • @ohthatshari‌ - they will most likely hook you up to monitor you for contractions and your LO's heartbeat after taking your vitals. Some of the other ladies will b we more helpful about any tests or labs that might be ordered. I was only monitored due to dehydration when I went it. Good luck and keep updating as you can

  • @ohthatshari lots of good thoughts your way!

  • @nutmegs8 - If they were thin mints I probably would have cried and waited until DH was done seeing patients and had him pick them up for me :)
