Re: UO

  • I think the video of the gender reveal gone wrong (where the big brother has a meltdown b/c it's another girl) is ridiculous!!!! Somebody needs to give that child a time out, or even a good old fashioned spanking!! It was cute for about .2 seconds, but once he started saying girls were stupid, and he hated them I would have shut the camera off!!

    I haven't seen this.... Link?

Good old spanking? Are you effing serious? You clearly don't have any other children (I am on the app) but this is classic kid behavior and not deserving of a corporal punishment. My three year old hysterically cried and said she hated boys when we told her she was having two brothers. Have a couple of kids first then you can actually have some real opinions on what is an appropriate kids' reaction. Good luck with your spanking.

    Lol.
ETA: That's not classic kid behavior.  At least not from any kid I've ever seen who has ever been taught what's right and wrong as far as behavior is concerned.  He's being a total brat and seeing how much he can get away with, probably because his parents are pushovers and think that punishment is saying "now Timmy, it's not nice to be a meanie."  The kid has probably never been told "no" or been taught respect in any way.
Also, she has a child so I think she can have an opinion on kids.

Oh give me a break. Good ole Timmy, is being a kid who for a hot second, was sad about not having a brother after already having two sisters. Way to emphasize that this is obviously is the parents' fault when it was a pure reaction of a child which I can surely say he got over in an hour or two. But yes, let's condone 'spanking' him for his initial reaction to a surprise because that is the best way to tell them 'no'. Both of you clearly dont have older children. They react, have temper tantrums and act like assholes for a short time; all of them, even the ones whose parents..gasp...said no.
  • Hey! @toriela did you know we don't have any other kiddos? Just making sure you didn't miss that. ;) geez!

What do you want, for us to say that you're an expert at parenting and we should all look up to you?  Not gonna happen, sister.  No, she and I don't have older children.  But I pretty much raised my 5 younger siblings while my mom was working multiple jobs and my dad walked out, so yeah, I know something about normal kid behavior - I know they get upset and they have tantrums, but that was over the top.  Spanking for being disappointed that he was getting another sister may be a bit much, but spanking because he was saying "girls are stupid, I hate girls" may not be as much of a stretch.
Oh, and I ended up with three brothers before I got my sister, and then another brother after that, and while I was disappointed I never reacted in that way because I was thankful just to be getting another sibling.  My parents taught me to be grateful and realize that I'm blessed.
    ETA added stuff

Lol. I am no expert but I saw my own child's reaction to a sibling . It happens, this boy's reaction was just that-a reaction. Raising three sisters or whatever has no basis or meaning in this conversation. That boy's reaction was completely normal and clearly does not deserve any type of corporal punishment which is what your friend thought was appropriate. This is one of those things that you really have no clue about until it comes; just like you had this idea about pregnancy, your birth and newborn, etc. Kids are assholes, this kid's reaction is normal and healthy. I can assure you that your daughter will tell you multiple times that she hates boys, you talk to her, she gets over it, then hates them again. The ignorance that this is actually normalcy is what is annoying

The video is funny, it really is. I can bet a lot of the women on here with older kiss dealt with this at one point or another. Bottom line- to pull this card again- you truly don't know how your kids will react until you are there.

I pointed out that I raised my 5 siblings because you pretty much kept saying that we had no idea how kids behave because we don't have multiple children like you do.  And thank you for saying for the millionth time that you're an expert because you have more than one child.  As I said before - none of us think that you're a hero or some kind of child behavior expert.  Go ahead, pull that card again - NONE of us are impressed with you.  Also, if you read her comment at the top of this page she said that she made the spanking comment light heartedly because she doesn't know whether she'll spank.  Reading comprehension - you should probably work on it.

Lol, reading comprehension is the least reaction I have to this ridiculous conversation. Your incredible lack to follow this conversation and understand the mere point of my post was that singling out this kid for his reaction; and subsequent comment on the parenting, was an ignorant mockery of a normal child. Just spank them it will set us all free.

Oh, The bump don't every change, I have been around the hood a long time. You won't be running me off because you disagreed with me.

Wait, does caring for someone who is an asshole make you an expert?  Because my dog is kind of an asshole, so...

Bahhaha!! I'm going to sleep on that note!! DS, yes my ONLY child is asleep, and I want to get some too before he wakes up.

Eta: at least she Lol's before she writes each comment! Does that mean she's laughing at us?

  • That tantrum looked pretty similar to the one my 6-year old threw the other day when I told him to pick up his games....complete with "I hate you's" and "I don't love you anymore's". He's a great kid, but sometimes at that age they just don't have the emotional maturity to know how to 'appropriately' handle disappointments/frustrations ....nor do they have the emotional maturity to 'feel grateful' for what they have/in this boys case; getting a new sibling.

These are teaching moments, but they don't come in the middle of the tantrum. It's after, once they've cried/screamed out everything they need to get out, then calmed down, you can have a one-on-one sit down to guide them how to handle disappointment the next time.

Dude, while a lot has to do with parenting, this IS a kid being a kid. They are not adults, cannot expect them to behave like adults.

(I've been gone for a while - this post was a fun one to come back to! ;)

Oh come on, the kid had a temper tantrum! I guarantee you that even if you teach your child right from wrong, she will still have a reaction like this to something one day. So judging these parents (and the kid for that matter) from one clip is kinda shitty.

@jwls84‌ What about judging then for allowing it continue unchecked while they film it for entertainment purposes and then put it on the internet for their 15 minutes of cyberfame? Is that cool?

Should they have posted the video? Probably not! I am just saying good kids have tantrums too

  • I watched the video, and I felt a little bad for him. He was clearly upset. However his reaction is clearly a reflection of his parents. His dad says that he was disappointed too, and that he thought the same thing
