We are a group of women striving to live healthier lives, whether that means losing weight, gaining weight, sticking to a specific diet, counting calories, avoiding counting calories, starting to exercise, continuing to exercise or anything in between. We check in on Mondays and follow up with an accountability on Fridays (our favorite post of the week, because we love encouraging each other and celebrating all our successes!).
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Many of us are using MyFitnessPal to keep track of our eating and our exercise. MFP is a great tool to keep yourself accountable, and because it is set up as a social network site, we can cheer you on there as well as here. If you are using MFP and have not found us yet, let us know so we can friend you! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Ok ladies! How are you all doing? What do you have going on this week:
THE GOOD:
THE BAD:
THE PROUD:
THE PLAN:
QOTW: What healthy food satisfies your sweet and/or salty cravings?
I am so proud of all of you but in case you need some more motivation:
Good morning everyone! Myself and three of my friends all caught a stomach bug of some sort - all of varying degrees. I'm hoping that mine is all gone now but I was up half the night with it
THE GOOD: I've been fairly good with what I've been eating.
THE BAD: Still failing on the exercise front.
THE PROUD: I have a plan and am ready to attack.
THE PLAN: More water, more salads, and exercise
QOTW: What healthy food satisfies your sweet and/or salty cravings? A good fruit salad satisfies my sweet cravings but I am physically unable to make a "small" fruit salad and I can never eat it all before it goes bad. I like to make it for parties during the summer and then I have the leftovers. Salty I don't really have a go-to solution for that.
Thanks for running the check in, I hope your weekend was awesome!
THE GOOD: I am avoiding coffee this morning successfully, despite being low on sleep and kinda hung over . I also found delicious yogurt covered breakfast bites that I will be trying for lunch (greek yogurt is getting old).
THE BAD: I had a seriously fun weekend of wine tasting at various vinyards. Unfortunately that means I am feeling pretty sheepish about the calories involved. I also found out that a local winery sells refillable growlers of a tasty Sauvignon Blanc. Life isn't fair! .
THE PROUD: I'm too hungover to be proud of myself.
THE PLAN: I am going to do core excersizes every noght this week, come hell or high water.
QOTW: What healthy food satisfies your sweet and/or salty cravings?
I really like raw almonds. They are slightly sweet, have no salt, and are filling. Perfect triad!
Morning @Peggles24

@peledreamsofrain Ouch to the hangover! I hope you feel better soon.
Wow, this is a great idea. Thank you so much for organizing this thread! I could seriously use this right now...after the MC and D&C I have not been very good to my body and have been eating all sorts of junk (ex: there is a half eaten bag of tostitos 'hint of lime' chips next to me that I should probably put down now...) Anyways, hopefully this will get me on the right track...before all this happened, I was fairly healthy.
THE GOOD: Ready for a fresh start...I have healthy meals planned out for the weak
THE BAD: Haven't been able to exercise because of the D&C a few days ago so feeling horribly lazy...and I already mentioned the Tostitos that I just devoured *embarrassed*
THE PROUD: Went and bought a bunch of fruit and veggies this morning. Hopefully, if they're available, I'll reach for them instead of junk
THE PLAN: Healthy meals for the week, will maybe start working out again towards the end of the week
QOTW: What healthy food satisfies your sweet and/or salty cravings? FRUIT! I absolutely LOVE all sorts of berries, pineapple, any sort of fruit really!
Thanks again for organizing this thread!

@msu_girl1202 Welcome! Sounds like you have a great plan in place and are ready to implement it. The best advice I can give you is to listen to your doctor and your body and make sure that you are ready before you jump back into exercise.
The Good: I have been a lazy bum post surgery for the last 6 days... it has been fantastic and I wish I could do it FOREVER!-OK that might not be a "good" but hey, I enjoyed it!
The Bad: see above....
The Proud: I am starting my estrogen tomorrow and in an attempt to lessen the hormonal blow, I am going to try to get back into yoga for a more meditation/spiritual use versus "body toning"... I am also trying to take a whole new "positive"spin on things... like staying busy, meal planning, not being around negative things/people or taking part in negative conversation... I just dont need any bad juju!
The Plan: I am back to the gym today... picking up on week 3 of Jamie Eason's Live Fit... woo hoo... I need to start dropping some inches and get some toning! I have a beach bachelorette party in a month and a half followed by being in a wedding!
QOTW: granola works for a sweet... I like the vanilla almond lately... and my salty is not really healthy, but I get the annie's bunnies (like goldfish but "organic")
Hi Friends - this will be a post and run for now... I was out on vacay Friday and have 200 emails to filter through :-( And my boss is out... lovely.
THE GOOD: Didn't screw up my diet at my parents... YAY!
THE BAD: Ate hushpuppies on Friday night, but boy were they good!!!!!
THE PROUD: Did a pump DVD last night and did the whole thing with the 10# weights...
THE PLAN: Daily workout plans of T25 with some strength in other workouts. I'm on week 2 of the "beta" workouts and they are hard, but good.
QOTW: What healthy food satisfies your sweet and/or salty cravings? I crave sweets... I've been having the homemade "Cookie dough greek yogurt" recipe... very good. I make a whole serving and split it into two nights... it's a little bit of chocolate which I've been trying to steer clear of, but it's better than eating a whole chocolate bunny (Don't think I didn't think about doing that!)... @jlworden710 You deserved the rest post-surgery! Granola is a great idea - I never think of that.

@mrsg80intn Nice job on sticking to your diet! Keep up the great work!
THE GOOD: I didn't stray too much this weekend with my food intake...I drank my shakes for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, but did have some snacks and made pizza rolls (crescent rolls with cheese and pepperoni) for lunch yesterday. Sticking with the shakes though was my good! THE BAD: My water consumption went WAY down this weekend for whatever reason. It wasn't that wasn't drinking pop or anything...I just wasn't drinking ANYTHING. That can't be safe or healthy... OH, and Friday night I drank WAAAAY too much alcohol...it was rough...I almost forgot about it! THE PROUD: I got out with my pup both days this weekend and actually went for a nice long walk with my mom on Saturday morning on the beach. It was nice to get the fresh air! THE PLAN: I plan on gyming it up today and then I have my ute surgery on Wednesday so I'm going to take the rest of the week to relax and recuperate from that. Wish me luck on Wednesday! QOTW: What healthy food satisfies your sweet and/or salty cravings? Fruit satisfies the sweet and the salty...I guess pretzels, but I really don't like them. I crave sweet more anyway!

@liamadi1 I hate when I realize that I just haven't consumed any beverages at all. Keep up with that water today! Good job on the rest of the weekend! Good luck on Wednesday - I'll be thinking of ya!
THE GOOD: Last week was brutal - a true test of my control over my emotional eating habits. I did break down a little, but it could have been worse. So it's good that I didn't completely go off the rails.
THE BAD: I completely broke diet on Friday, and while I enjoyed what I ate in the moment, both hubby and I paid for our bad food choices that night and all weekend. Sadly, I think milkshakes are forever on the no-no list. OH, and I bailed on Saturday's zumba class because I was feeling so sluggish after Friday night's indulgence.
THE PROUD: Despite having a bad food day on Friday, I think I lost the period bloat from last week and am holding steady at 10lbs down from where I started 7 weeks ago.
THE PLAN: Stick to my diet all week. Go to the gym 4x, and maybe try out the saturday morning Zumba class.
QOTW: What healthy food satisfies your sweet and/or salty cravings? Nuts. Lately I've been loving a mix of cashews and raw/unsalted almonds. Just a handful or two and I'm good for hours!
@grailseeker14 I'm very proud of you for last week ((hugs)) Congrats on keeping those 10lbs off!
THE GOOD: Drinking plenty of water, taking my vitamins and less caffeine! (I use the 2WW as an excuse to get a pricier latte instead of coffee becuase it has less caffeine hehehe. H can't argue that logic)
THE BAD: I didn't get my 3 workouts in last week and this week is already off to a bad start with a busy day and no gym time.
THE PROUD: Despite some questionable eating over the weekend I'm down 1lb from last week!
THE PLAN: Exercise 3x this week - hope to do a 3 mi run, 30 min cycle class and something else
QOTW: What healthy food satisfies your sweet and/or salty cravings? Ummm I am not a healthy snacker. I consider a Fiber one granola bar a "healthy" snack. Put this under "the bad"

@km380 Congrats on the weight loss! And I like your Latte tactic - nice!
Hi ladies! Sorry in advance for the P&R, I've got lots of meetings today! Thanks for the check-in, @peggels24 I hope your tummy feels better?!
THE GOOD: doing really great with my eating plan. Feeling awesome! Down 6 pounds still, but more importantly, 2% body fat!
THE BAD: I did have wine every day this weekend, BUT I limited myself to a single glass. That's actually a major accomplishment for me!
THE PROUD: I have been completely kicking ass in my workouts. I worked out every single day last week, sometimes more than once. I'm considered a "regular" at Gold's Gym.
THE PLAN: Build on the momentum. Definitely work out every work day this week. Next weekend is going to be crazy busy so workouts may not happen over the weekend.
QOTW: I crave salty things the most. Some of the things that satisfy that for me are home-roasted almonds (I use sea salt and red pepper flakes...yum) and the occasional miso soup. For my sweet craving, 1/2 Tbsp Earth Balance peanut/coconut butter or my morning smoothie which includes Vega One vanilla chai protein, blueberries, spinach and unsweetened almond milk.
@holdingouthope Great job - you are doing fantastic! So impressed! One glass of wine is something to be proud about - unless you mean one glass bottle? LOL
Hi Ladies, this is my first time posting in the healthy living check-in. Looking to join you to help me with my accountability.
THE GOOD: I was supposed to run a half marathon on Saturday, but stopped training while pregnant and was thinking maybe I'd do the 10k instead. Then I had my D&C and thought even the 10k would be out of reach. I ended up trying the 10k anyway and finished with a time I was happy with!
THE BAD: Have not been following a diet or working out lately.
THE PROUD: Finishing the 10k on Saturday.
THE PLAN: With DH, do at least half an hour of some sort of physical activity each day, even if it's a nice and easy half hour walk with the dogs. Just something to keep us moving and create a habit of being active again.
QOTW: Blue Diamond Oven Roasted Cinnamon Brown Sugar Almonds - yum.

@mrskush1014 Welcome to the check-in! Great job on the 10k - that is awesome!
@LiaMadi1 Good luck with your surgery! I will be thinking of you on Wednesday.
@jlworden As awesome as being a bum is, I bet it will feel great to get back to exercising. Hope the estrogen doesn't drive you too crazy!
@peggels24 I know what you mean about a small fruit salad being tough to make. I also have the problem of buying large fruit (melon, pineapple, etc) and never being motivated to cut it up. Then all of a sudden I have a large moldy fruit in my fridge.
@MrsG80inTN Wow, I am impressed with your 10# weights. I don't even have 10# weights because I know there is very little that I would be able to do with them. I am a bit of a weakling.
@Megdowntheshore So proud of your half marathon running. Good luck passing the time till your IVF cycle!
@meganwelch congrats on the 1#! Mmmmm, I love green olives.
@HoldingOutHope Wow, 6 lbs! I don't know how you find the time to make it to the gym every day. Good for you.

THE GOOD: CD1 has finally arrived! (I made it to CD80 on Sunday) This made me feel a bit better that it wasn't my weight issues causing amenorrhea.
THE BAD: Went a bit heavy on the unhealthy food this weekend (and pizza for dinner last night).
THE PROUD: Even when I eat unhealthy I always get my veggies in (carrot sticks with hummus last night with the pizza).
THE PLAN: Exercise, eat, drink more water.
QOTW: What healthy food satisfies your sweet and/or salty cravings? I like the special K chips with sea salt for a salty craving. For sweet, one piece of dark chocolate is enough, although strawberries are working right now too thanks to @peggels24 and her suggestion a few weeks ago.

I didn't have a great week last week so I need this check-in to keep me motivated. Thanks, @Peggels24, for running it!
THE GOOD: I ran my half-marathon yesterday in 1 hour, 53 minutes.
THE BAD: My legs are so stiff today I am hobbling. I just did a long walk with the dog in hopes of stretching them out but I'm still walking funny.
THE PROUD: Five teachers from my school did the race yesterday and they announced that on the morning announcements today. My students and coworkers were impressed.
THE PLAN: Today was a long walk, tomorrow is back to the gym, but probably still taking it kind of easy on my legs, then work out Wed, Friday, Saturday. I just went grocery shopping so we have healthy meals. I'm starting my first medicated cycle with IVF when I get my next period, so less than three weeks until that! I am trying to maintain my sanity and contain my anxiety by eating healthy and working out.
QOTW: What healthy food satisfies your sweet and/or salty cravings? I like pretzels, fruit, and Greek yogurt for snacks.
@megdowntheshore Awesome job on the half! I don't know how timing on halves work - but that's really good, right? I know under 4 for a marathon is great so I'm extrapolating here. I hope your legs are feeling better!
IVF in three weeks? That is awesome and scary all at the same time. I wish you the absolute best with it (not that I won't be here cheering you on when it happens).
THE GOOD: CD1 has finally arrived! (I made it to CD80 on Sunday) This made me feel a bit better that it wasn't my weight issues causing amenorrhea.

@smcniff Good job on getting the veggies in even with the pizza (which I don't happen to think is too bad in moderation - everything in moderation).
I have the same issue as you do with the fruit going moldy in the fridge. That is why I try to do my food shopping when I know that I will immediately cut up the fruit or veggies and they will be all ready to grab - much easier (but more time consuming).
The good: DH and I are on week 2 of T25 and we have stayed completely on track!
The bad: I'm still having some intermittent spotting, especially after working out, and I'm 20 days OTs d&c. But it's finally down to just spotting at least.
The proud: see the good!
The plan: Keep up with T25 this week, eat 3 meals plus 2 snacks, and no alcohol!
QOTD: frozen yogurt (sweet) and lately gherkins pickles for salty!

DX: RPL due to submucosal uterine fibroid. Hysteroscopy 12/16. All clear!
@peggel24 thanks so much for the check in and keeping us all on track and motivated.
THE GOOD: I worked out 3 days last week, spent 3 days being much more active than my usual desk job allows, and I went for a run today.
THE BAD: We ate like kings while camping - roasted marshmallows dipped in Bailey's Irish Cream, Smores, and pancakes, oh my! Also, we broke down and bought some soda st the nearby camp store...
THE PROUD: I'm not as sunburned as I thought I would be! Also, despite my crazy busy schedule, and a tension headache, I forced myself to go for a run today and I'm very glad I did.
THE PLAN: another run tomorrow and/or thursday and maybr a Zumba class. No more soda, limit sweets and simple carbs. Increase fruit and veggie intake.
QOTW: sweet would be dark chocolate or strawberries. Salty would probably be baked pita chips and guacamole, specifically the spicy guac from HEB.

@morethansparrows08 I always feel like whatever you eat while camping doesn't count - I mean if you are outside how can the calories count ? LOL Great plan to get back on track!
Re: !!!!!Healthy Living Check-In!!!!!
THE GOOD: I am avoiding coffee this morning successfully, despite being low on sleep and kinda hung over
THE BAD: I had a seriously fun weekend of wine tasting at various vinyards. Unfortunately that means I am feeling pretty sheepish about the calories involved. I also found out that a local winery sells refillable growlers of a tasty Sauvignon Blanc. Life isn't fair!
Anyways, hopefully this will get me on the right track...before all this happened, I was fairly healthy.

Here's the link: https://www.girlgonecountry.com/recipes-2/cookie-dough-greek-yogurt-3/
*8.31.16* mc @ 8 weeks DnC {genetic testing, new medications upon next pregnancy}
*7.17.16* praying everyday for my rainbow baby {progesterone supplements, blood thinning injections}
Happy Monday all!
PgAL welcome

THE PROUD: Finishing the 10k on Saturday.

@MrsKush1014 and @MSU_Girl1202 Welcome to the check in. Good luck meeting your goals this week.
BFP #2 6/12/14, DD born 2/21/15

DX: RPL due to submucosal uterine fibroid. Hysteroscopy 12/16. All clear!
