DH and I both have very common first names and our last name is common too. We share our full names with hundreds of other people! So, for our daughter, we wanted to choose something that is a "real" name (you've actually heard of it) but is still more unique. With that in mind... We are leaning toward Ivy Mae. Have you met any little girls with the name Ivy? I only know one person and she is an adult... Thanks for your help!

I know 2 girls under the age of 3 with the name Ivy. I think Beyoncé and Jay Z helped make it more popular with with naming their daughter Blue Ivy. So, in my opinion yes, it's gaining popularity. I do like it, though.

If you are worried about popularity, you might want to check the new rankings when they come out next week. If Ivy is still rising, you'll know that it's headed for the top 100. It's still a cute name. You just have to decide what your popularity threshold is.

I have never known an Ivy IRL, I think it's a beautiful name.

Funny story, our naming situation is similar to yours with a common last name, so we chose a name that's in the 400's on the SSA list. Apparently my friend's coworker just had a baby and named her the same name, and they randomly also share our LN. Luckily, they live across the country, so it's not like they'll ever run into each other, but it's just funny that we apparently both had the same idea, and exactly the same taste.
