How many weeks were you/will you be at your shower?

My MIL wants to have a coed shower on June 28. I'll be 36/37 weeks. My mom most likely isn't having one for my side. She doesn't believe in showers before the baby is born.

I've voiced my concerns to my MIL about that being so late but she won't change it so I guess I'll just go with the flow. I'm grateful for her generosity and offering but I just wish it was sooner.

My concerns are early baby, bed rest, huge and miserable, not enough time to exchange and buy and put together everything. I know babies need milk, sleep and diapers but I'm very much an organized and on track or ahead of schedule person. I hate anything last minute and I definitely can't stand feeling unprepared.

So when was your shower or when will it be?

Mine is June 1 and I'll be between 34 and 35 weeks. I even am Leary about that late but May was too busy.

I'd be nervous about having it that late too! I'm very similar in liking to be prepared, and I totally get wanting to be comfortable. I wish you the best with it!

I'm not exactly sure yet when mine will be, there isn't a set date. But I know they are aiming for late May or early June. So probably so probably sometime between 32-34 weeks.

No, that's why i asked to have it earlier. I think I'd be fine under 35 weeks.

As a side note, MIL missed her own shower with DH because she had him the day before. When i brought that up she said either the baby would then be there or we could skype. :-/

Mine is may 3 ill be 31 weeks and my mil is throwing another one may 18 I'll be 33 weeks

With DD my shower was at 36 weeks. I HATED having it that late, but DD was due Oct. 26th and we're Jewish, and all the freaking holidays are in September, so finding a date that worked was a pain. August seemed too early. It was totally fine though. DD came at 39 weeks, and we still had everything by the time she arrived. But that pregnancy was super uneventful and I was fine walking around, socializing, doing whatever.

However, my shower this time is Sunday and I'm 27 weeks. With twins everything I've heard is get it done before 30-32 weeks, so 27 weeks worked for us. This time waiting to 36 weeks would be a nightmare!

Do you have any legitimate reason to be concerned about going on bed rest, or is it just a worry? If there's a legitimate reason any of your worries could happen then I'd push to have it a bit early, even 34 weeks. And even if you are on bed rest it can still work.

@shanaynerz‌ no, I'm just concerned. I know a lot of friends who ended up on bed rest or going early and it worries me. I also know I could go to 42 weeks haha.

Mine is tomorrow and I'll be 30 weeks. I'm like you; I like to be prepared and have time to organize everything. I can totally understand why you're a little concerned about having your shower so late. Hopefully it won't be an issue, though!

my shower is on June 7th.. i'll be 32 weeks.. it's almost 2 months before EDD - i feel like that's a good amount of time.

Even though you'll be close to 40w.. i'm sure there will be people who can help you bringing stuff home, exchanging stuff..ect. and it might be nice to have somewhere to go at that point if you've been hanging out at home for awhile

@cakebatter27 Okay at least there's no reason to worry! Like you said just try and go with the flow. I'd still personally try and get it like a week or two earlier, but it's hard b/c you don't wanna push it too much either... Just try and stay positive that it'll all be great!

Mine is June 1 and I'll be 32 weeks. A skype baby shower sounds... fun? Hopefully you won't have gone into labor yet, but just use the late date as an excuse to sit down and make everyone come to you to socialize

A friend is throwing one May 3rd, when I will be 31 weeks (her son is graduating from college later in the month, so we planned early). Work is throwing one on the 4th, because my mom will still be in town and can go.

Then, we will do a baby meeting after the baby is here at my parents house. That is unscheduled, but I'm guessing around my dad's birthday in August, since all of us kids will be home for that.

My shower is June 8th and I'll be between 35-36 weeks.

I would have liked to do it sooner but my husband wanted to at least be in town when I have it and he is deployed until May 22nd.

Friends/coworkers shower at 26 weeks

Family shower at 27 weeks

They were moved way early because baby will be born between 35-36 weeks and I could be put on hospital bedrest at any moment before that.

I will say that it was nice having them that early, though! I like to feel prepared

I have my main shower when I'll be 35 weeks. I would have liked to have it a little earlier, but the hostesses have a lot going on that month and with Labor Day it made things difficult because we wanted to schedule around that weekend.

Work is throwing a joint shower for me and another girl in our office when I'm somewhere in my 37th week. I didn't have a choice on that date, my other coworker is about 7 weeks behind me so they needed some middle ground. If I end up not being able to participate, then so be it. But, I'm planning on working until labor so the least of my concerns will be that shower if I'm having pregnancy complications or this baby comes early.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with his problem! I have a shower at 31 weeks, then 36.5 weeks and I'm so nervous about that one. Then my MIL wants to do one at 38.5 and doesn't understand why I'm not comfortable with that. I have a feeling I'm going to deliver a week or so early anyway and am already stressing out about showers on top of everything else for a first time mom

Mine is June 8 and I'll be 36w3d. I worried about it at first especially because my sisters went at 35w (twins) and 37w (singleton), not that their pregnancies have any bearing on mine. And my husband doesn't want to buy any baby gear prior to the shower. But the nursery is ready to go furniture-wise and it's decorated so that makes me feel better.

My shower will be May 18 and I'll be 32 weeks. I can't imagine having it any later. I already feel like that is too late with my need to prepare and have everything planned and done, even though I know I'll be ok. So I totally understand your worry!

June 7th i think, I'll be almost 34 weeks. I would have liked to have it sooner but my mom wanted to wait till my sister was out of school and that is the first available weekend.

If there wasn't a possibility of me being induced anytime after 34 weeks i would have been totally fine with the timing.

STM here but my mom is forcing me to have one since she's moving to another state next month. It's very small "sprinkle" on Sunday so I'll be 29 weeks. Just honored to have one at all!

I was 35 weeks with DS, who was born at 38.5 weeks. I don't remember being too uncomfortable. I had on little one inch heels that I had to change into flip flops, but that's all. I ordered anything else I needed off my registry shortly after and everything came in on time.

May 17th and I'll be 33 weeks... I'm pretty confident that I'll be okay. However, I'm having one with my girlfriends on June 1 and I'll be 35 weeks...I'm more concerned about that one and the weather being majorly too hot.

Mine's tomorrow, so 29 weeks. I feel like it's a wee bit early.

My mom had hers at 38 weeks and was giving birth to me while my family was opening the gifts.

(It was her own fault though, she jumped on the couch and her water broke, so try not to do that.)

I'm having 3 showers...excessive I know, but my family, DH's family, and our friends are all in different cities. Plus my mom, MIL, and best friend all offered...at least the showers will all be small groups.

MIL's (3 hours away) - 30 weeks

Mom's (1 1/2 hours away) - 33 weeks

Best Friend's (local) - 35 weeks

The speculated date right now is June 14, and I will be 36 weeks. I wasn't worried until I calculated that, but that is TERRIBLY close if something happens. May is pretty busy, my SIL is graduating from high school, and she is also the main planner of the shower. She has so much planning for herself to do, I'd hate to up and say "hey, we need to go EARLIER."

I will be 34 and 35 weeks at my showers (one with in-laws, one with friends and my side of the family). I would not have wanted to have them any later. I totally understand your being nervous about having your so late, I am also the type who likes to prep early. But, I do wish you luck, some women feel pretty good that late in pregnancy and don't go into labor early. Hopefully that will be how things go for you!

I want to say I was 31-32 weeks along when I had my shower for DD. That seemed early to me but my hostess didn't want to get tangled up in the holidays (Thanksgiving/Christmas) so opted for earlier. It made sense.

Are you anticipating getting a lot of items to be exchanged? Surely friends or family would be willing to help you with that? Try not to make yourself go crazy over this because there really are so many unknowns. Get as much prep done you can before the shower and take it from there.

Is it was either @ 34 weeks or 37 weeks (MIL is going on a trip in between and she's co-hosting). 37 weeks just seemed a little late so we're going with 34, even though it's memorial weekend and I have a feeling a lot of people won't make it.

I'll be at 35 weeks! We were going to do it in May, but I had a schedule conflict, so now we're at June 8. I'm due July 10 and my mom doesn't get why I'm so nervous!
