Got a package of bacon from Trader Joe's that are bits and pieces wih No nitrates. It is so yummy.
Buy anyways...i know this is a no no but I was not going to argue with MIL. DH's sis is havind a baby later this year and MIL is doing the shower and I said I will help. She wanted to do a literary theme where you bring your favorite book. I offered to do the invites. Well everyone has said OMG they are awesome and such a clever idea.
They were a library card...like how you used to write your name on the card so they know who checked out the book and stamped the date. Well one of those in a pocket with the info written on the card. And a little note stating to bring a book. They all loved it. Granted they are all older people. But i guess some people think it is a wonderful idea.
Sigh. LO woke up earlier tonight right when DH and I started fooling around and I lost my energy. Still DTD later but now I'm all sore from overcompensating. Also, all babies should always STTN. Always.
My mom, sis, aunt and 6 mo old nephew visited yesterday. We were at a coffee shop and l had a spinach feta bistro. It was delicious. I put a bit on a spoon for Alex. My sister lost it. "OMG! What are you doing?!?" "Did you just feed that to him?!?" "He can't have that!!"
I was a little shocked and thought at first she meant because it tasted way to good to share. But no. It was because it has butter and salt and probably not organic. All her child will ever eat is organic. And no Mcdonalds (even though she loves it). You should have seen the look on her face when l said he likes peanutbutter. She tried to lecture me. I told her to read the current feeding guidelines and that Alexhas been eating solids for a while now. She needs to get off her high horse.
I woke up a million times last night. Our pedi told us yesterday that V should not be waking up to eat 3 times a night and we need to break the habit.
As of last night we decreased the amount we gave him. This kid is a nocturnal eater because during the day he is so distracted by wanting to play that he doesn't eat well.
Did anyone else's pedi say this? Before it didn't worry me that he woke up 3-4 times a night but now...
I need to get out of work early enough today to go to target for mascara and baby food.
I'm wearing pants that just came out of the dryer and fit right now, but in about an hour I'll have diaper butt for the rest of the day. I need to suck it up and buy new pants, but I hate adding another size to the closet.
Yesterday was the first day I went without pumping at work. It was nice to have an actual lunch break and not have to pump but it still bums me out. He's happy, healthy and does great on formula. Totally just a mind thing for me
@lancome, I think it is really up to you. Personally, I would try to eliminate a feeding or two, because you, your h and V need sleep. But ultimately, that is a parenting decision and up to your discretion.
@stacey099 glad you enjoyed your lunch break. You did great! B is mostly on formula now, and I had wanted to do BM until a year, but my supply had other ideas. I get the bittersweet feeling.
@dliz87 lol on the diaper butt. I hate when that happens!
I didn't take a shower last night because I didn't have time and I knew I was just going to be going to the gym this morning. I feel too dirty to go to the gym, though. Showering is import I can't tell @mystererae to brush her teeth when I have a smelly body, so, I'll just go crawl in a dirty hole now.
Also, so glad I have an appointment this afternoon for LO's ears, if only so I can at least stop worrying about whether he does or doesn't have an infection. Mommy worry is the worst!
We drove back from visiting the in-laws yesterday, what should have been a 6.5hr drive took 8. DH and I had a long discussion about Ferberizing Ian. I think it's happening this weekend.
Well my suburban was officially totaled after my accident, and now I have 2 days to find a new vehicle. I am going to try and convince my boss to sell me his truck and vet box. It's an F250 diesel. It's older than my suburban was, but I think I will come out ahead financially on this whole mess.
@maryannespier and @lancomechica my pediatrician agrees with maryanne's pediatrician. I've also chosen to ignore him on that. I wish all pediatricians were on the same page.
I don't think there is anything wrong with trying to encourage them to give up some or all nighttime feedings. I've sent DH to deal with nighttime wakings because we EBF and DH doesn't have boobs. If LO was comforted and went back to sleep, then it wasn't hunger. If LO didn't go back to sleep or woke up again shortly after that, then I would go in to nurse.

We love our pedi too! She is young...had a baby in September. We still fed him 3 times but we are making the bottles smaller...since we are no longer BFing we can control the volume. So operation evening formula dose taper is in effect.
He is great for weight, length and head...so I'm not worried there.
Re MOTN feelings- I started to offer a pacifier during the night when I wasn't sure if she'd be hungry or not. When it calms her right down, I figure she isn't hungry. If she throws it across her crib, I make her a bottle. This move to paci came after she would only take an ounce or two out of a bottle at night, so it seemed more as if she were comfort feeding than anything else. IMO, we know our babies better than anyone else and the pedi comments regarding overnight feelings should just be used as suggestions.

@lancomechica My pedi is super laid back and hasn't told me to cut out feedings or sleep train though we don't talk about it much. She asked me at the 9 month appointment how she was sleeping and I told her that she wakes up probably 2-4 times a night ( I didn't mention that she eats at at least 2 of those but she didn't ask) I can't remember her exact words but I got more of a shrug the shoulders this isn't abnormal reaction from her. I say do what you want. There is no way I could get LO to give up night feeds because she barely eats during the day. I EBF and I am lucky if I get her to eat for more than 3 min every 3.5-4 hours or so - she would rather be playing. She makes up for it at night.
Speaking of night sleep. LO has been waking up a million times lately and super uncomfortable sometimes gassy. I decided to not give her her Prevacid last night and I got a 6 hour stretch from her! I haven't gotten 6 hours of sleep total in the last month or two, and definitely not in a row. I'm going to be pissed if the reflux meds are the reason she stopped STTN (she sttn from 3-4 months and then 5 months on it has been downhill - we started reflux meds at 5 months)
@lancomechica - teething? Growth spurts? LO wakes up 2-3 times consistently. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Ped didn't seem to think it was a problem at our 9 mo checkup.
And fwiw, I can't get her to eat if we are out and about. She's too interested in what's going on around her.
@lancomechica If you don't mind feeding him 3 x's a night, then respectfully ignore your pedi.
But if you want sleep at night, try to make sure he feeds well during the day and especially at dinner.
I read somewhere to give water in the motn. Eventually they'll sttn since they know their only getting water.
M feeds well, during the day. We feed her dinner and she nurses before and afterwards. We don't hear from her until after 7 the next morning.
@lancomechica Pedis aren't infant sleep experts. AFAIK it's not that your baby "shouldn't" be eating 3 times a night, it's more like your baby is at an age where it's appropriate to night wean or do sleep training but that's for YOU.
I like that the no cry sleep solution book talks about how your baby doesn't have a sleep problem, YOU have a sleep problem. Babies don't mind waking up a few times at night (on their schedule), but we do! So of waking up 3x to feed is bothering YOU, absolutely you can try some strategies to reduce MOTN wakeups/feedings. But it's not something you 'need' to do for your baby's health. It's something you can do for your own samity

This is my pedi's view, as well.

@somerandomchick she said the reason they shouldn't be eating during the night is tooth decay. Which I believe 100%. TRUST ME. If you saw my schedule you would know...I rarely do ANYTHING that is purely for my convenience. And yes having the energy of a wet noodle it all does become rather draining. Especially since I could barely walk up the stairs last night to go to bed. I haven't been on my meds for over a week now and I literally feel like death every day that I'm not on them. I don't get in here and whine and cry how I don't get any sleep. If I have it was a long time ago. I have sucked it up and trudged through. I'm not looking for the easy way out and I don't appreciate that insinuation.

We also try the paci first and then feed if that doesn't work.
And the tooth decay thing makes sense. I feel like I've heard that's more of an issue with putting them in bed with a bottle (dripping in their mouth all night) but I'm not an expert obviously. I BF, where night feeding definitely isn't a problem, so I haven't looked into it that much.
I'm always worried about Rosalind's teeth, cause of my experience with my teeth. I wish the little stinker would let me brush her teeth without fighting.
I was all smug because Feli would LOVE to get her (two) teeth brushed with the finger-condom thingy. Until last week. She decided grabbing it with one hand, stuffing my finger in her mouth and chomping down hard was so much better.

From what I read, it didn't sound like @somerandomchick was trying to accuse you, but support you.
I'm sorry he's waking up so much. James still wakes up 1-2 times a night and I'm always in a deep sleep and soooo annoyed that I have to get up. Every night I'm like "tomorrow I'm going to night wean!" But then the eats like a fiend and I'm like...he's obviously hungry...
I hope you get some rest soon. Thyroid issues suck; I've been there. I was wide awake and super anxious in the motn and couldn't fall back asleep every night.
I posted in a thread asking when your procedure is and then I forgot which thread it is (probably because I'm sleep deprived...)
So my chapter of my sorority made a Facebook group and posted an update checkin. I spent time trying to figure out how to spin my life to make it seem the best out of everyone.
In some ways my sorority was great for me, but I'm so glad to be done with it.

@lancomechica, so sorry you are stressed over the lack of sleep Sometimes I wish that somehow our babies would start magically sleeping better so we all don't have to stress over it! You are an awesome mama--hang in there!
I realized that our bad sleep and general crankiness over the last week was due to teething--all of a sudden his bottom two teeth have started to pop through at once. And now that they have finally cut through he has been giving me some longer stretches, at least one stretch of 4-6 hrs at a time! So I'm still up once or twice, but I will take this over every two hours or every 90 mins I do think that when he is waking now that he is legitimately hungry still--not to mention my boobs were about to explode so I was happy to get up at 4:55 for a few mins, and got him to fall back asleep for a bit after that.
Thanks. Things just feel shitty in every way right now. I'm usually not negative but I see no light at the end of the tunnel with my health situation, work/travel, and school. @Lelo2006 I know SRC meant well but when I read it... It read like..."YOU shouldn't listen to your pedi and listen to your baby. YOU selfishly need rest when your baby wants to be awake. Maybe YOU should focus more on your baby and not YOU." So please excuse me if I missed the support she tried to emit there. It was lost in the yelling at ME!
