Trying to Get Pregnant

When to temp?

Hey question about bbt, I know you're supposed to take it before you move/ do anything, so I typically take it the second I wake up, like instantly. But the past couple of days I forgot to right away, I still took it before I moved or got up I was just lying there... But it was like 2-3 min after I woke up. I noticed that the last 5 days that I've forgot my temp has been a consitant 36.22 every day. Now my question is, is that okay to still take the temp if it's been 2-3 min? Or should I try harder to remember instantly?

Re: When to temp?

  • I'm sure it's ok if you are laying there for a couple of minutes. I do that all the time.

  • I agree with PPs. As long as you're not up and moving around or carrying on a conversation you're probably fine.

  • I hate to disagree with the others, but I've always found the opposite to be true for me, my temps after lying and waiting are different than when I temp the second I wake up. I've even tested it just to see, temping right when I wake up then again after a few minutes of lying there, the second were up to 3/4 of a degree higher every single time.

I'm sure if I tempted twice it would be a difference too but my pre o and post o temps are over a whole degree different so I'm sure that little bit doesn't matter in the overall scheme of things.

  • Thanks so much guys:) made me feel more at ease. I'm someone who for the life of me cannot remember something the second I wake up, lol!
  • I move a lot in my sleep, so I always have to roll over to get my BBT. I think as long as you're consistent, that's what matters.

  • I try to do it after I've been awake for at least a minute or two. I try to stay consistent with what time I temp too. I don't get up and walk around and then temp. I actually fell asleep the other day while temping which I'm sure a lot of us do. :)
