I don't post pics of my kids every day but I have zero problem with putting pics of them on Facebook. I think people are way too paranoid about Facebook. Or maybe I'm too naive. I think it's definitely an age thing. I've been on Facebook since my college got it in 2005. It seems like people that are older than me are the ones who are freaked out about it.
I judge people who put their babies/ toddlers in bikinis. Not b/c I think it's inappropriate but b/c they have such sensitive skin, cover that baby up!
Two pieces are so much easier for diaper changes or using the potty (for the newly potty trained), so that's what I prefer for my kids. When we're indoors, I'll just have them in the bathing suit, but when we're outside, I put a rash guard on over it.

Oh I'm all for 2 pieces, DD is PTed and she wears tankinis or bottoms with rash guards. I just don't like the triangle top bikinis for little girls, they are ridiculous.
We used a 5 point harness with SD for a long time. I think until she was 5 or so. Then we used a high back booster because it has a guide for the shoulder belt. We switched to a regular booster once the shoulder belt would sit properly. Even though it's no longer required by our state laws, SD (8 1/2) still uses the booster and will until the shoulder belt fits properly without it (i.e. doesn't lay against her neck). I have taken a car seat/ booster seat training class for a previous job. That class has made me very conservative when it comes to car seat safety.
SD's mom, on the other hand, is completely reckless. SD told us when she was 3 or 4 that her mom only buckled her up if they were traveling on the highway. And when SD was 5 we found out she would let SD sit on her lap and help steer the car sometimes. Now she lets SD sit in the front seat.
I don't think small children should be fed McDonald's (or really other fast/processed foods). My MIL feeds my nieces garbage and doesn't see anything wrong with it. They are not 2 until June and she feeds them McDonald's for a treat. First of all, they're not even 2, they think fruit is a treat. Second of all, this is the prime time to develop your child's eating habits, why not feed them the best food you can?
I am not a mom yet, and I realize that time is often of the essense when you have kids, so maybe I shouldn't judge, but is it really that difficult to throw together something healthy for a 2 year old? Today my MIL posted on FB that my nieces had finished a dozen cookies before breakfast. If she thinks that's going to fly around my house she is dead wrong. I don't know that there's a magic age where the odd fast food meal is okay, but I don't think that 2 year olds are asking for McDonald's for lunch if they've never had it before.
I'm pretty sure I might get flamed for this but it's UO Thursday so it's okay.

DS hasn't had McDonalds but he has had fast food and he is 1. We usually stick to chik-fil-a I think it is definitely a first time mom thing to think you will get around it. I already have to hide if I want to eat a reeses and not share and ice cream can only be had after he goes to bed because these little human steal all of your food lol

DD isn't 2 yet so I don't know how I'll feel about it when she is. We eat very healthy around here but I see nothing wrong with the occasional treat. I love sweets so if I couldn't have treats every once in awhile I'd go crazy kids/toddlers are smart and start realizing things pretty quick. For example, my 10 month old knows exactly what a pear is and when I eat one she has to share. She whines until I do! She is seriously in love with them. But it's a pear, so I think that's ok

I'm not flaming you, but I laugh at the fact you're so sure what you will/won't do for your kid. My kid eats fruits & veggies, but can also recognize the Golden Arches from a mile away. She's not overweight and she's very active, so I'm not too concerned about the occasional happy meal. You'll see how your tune will change on many things when the time comes.
I have a friend and a cousin who posts pics of their kid(s) every. single. day. It is because of them that the world probably will see very little of my LO after it makes it's appearance. I don't need to see anyone's kids but my own every day. (And from what I hear, sometimes I might not want to see my own every day! LOL!)
I certainly don't condone drinking a ton or even a glass every night. But sharing a glass every once in a while with your SO or a friend is NBD after reading the studies IMO.
My midwife told me to go have a glass of wine for birthday to relax and I tried so hard to enjoy but I couldn't. I got so use tot he alcohol removed wine that real stuff tasted so funny. I also agree that it is no big deal and sometimes it could help if you are super worked up.
I tried to drink a half glass of wine a few weeks ago and it literally made me sick! Guess I'm done until November.
Also I agree with the belly button ring being trashy, but I got one when I was 17 and still have it. Really need to get that thing removed before I get too big!
My UO is that Taco Bell is awesome. DH won't eat there but he's in Cincinnati for business this week, so, Girls Night! :-bd

Easy to say now. Reality will set in when you have a toddler.
When we drove from Kansas City to middle of Tennessee last year, DS had never had fast food yet. It was such a big deal to me (as in "OMG, I can't believe I'm going to fee my kid this crap!) the first time we stopped for lunch. I got over it pretty quickly, DS ate fast food 2 days there and 2 days back. At that point, we just wanted to get to our destination ASAP.
Last night we were putting together a swing set for DS & time got away from us. He ended up only having ice cream, fruit, and a couple Nilla wafers. Meh, shit happens.
I don't see anything wrong with junk food occasionally. We usually eat pretty healthy (mostly paleo/primal). And I was the mom who made homemade baby food. But I've realized french fries and ice cream a couple times a month is NBD.
I think kids are more influenced by the regular eating habits of the household than they are by eating junk food on occasion. In fact, I think it's a good teaching opportunity to teach kids "treats are okay sometimes, but we only eat them occasionally and in small amounts".
I know food UOs are kinda lame, but I discovered a new love last night for dipping my fries in a ketchup-mayo mix. DH and SD were so disgusted! Maybe it's just a pregnancy thing, but I eat ketchup and mayo on my burgers and I have heard of people dipping their fries in it so I thought, why not. I am hooked!

Drives me crazy - CRAZY! - to see some of the habits my ILs instill in our nephew... Our baby will NOT be subjected to the same nonsense. Granted, there is a difference between occasional treats and straight-up poor habit development. I don't have a problem with occasional treats. I have a huge problem with "correcting" healthy habits with junk just because "they're wittle" so it's magically okay or something, perhaps without realizing that these choices are shaping the kid's future habits- and health. Example: toddler reaches for apple slices; GM offers candy bar instead. Example: toddler reaches for aunt's water; GM takes it away and replaces it with diet soda. DIET SODA. Example: toddler likes oatmeal as an evening snack; GM adds even more sugar... and a big ol' blob of margarine. Why??? Ignorance. So, yeah, fast food on occasion, whatever, life happens. A cookie for breakfast (not a dozen!) every now and again is fun for everyone. But I'm with you on this - there is no excuse to regularly make unhealthy choices for a child. It's a shame.

My DH does this. He is Dutch though and it's normal for them to eat fries with mayo.
I was hoping to keep dd rf until at least 18 months because h and I were fighting over it, but she became impossible to get in her car seat. She fought us so hard because she wanted to see. It would take us 10-15 minutes to get her buckled in. We finally switched her around a couple months ago and we have hardly had any problems since.

eh, they go through good phases and bad phases, even FF my DD1 still has tough times wanting to get into her Carseat and if someone rides the 3rd row she wants me to turn her RFing so she can talk to them. They change their minds a lot

Pregnancy-related: I judge women who choose to find out the sex of the baby before the a/s. I get that it's their money, their choice, if they want to have an elective u/s or do the Panorama test or whatever specifically just to find out the sex then that's up to them, but I'm still going to think you're just being impatient and I'm still going to judge you for it.
I don't go here, but this post makes me angry. Who cares if someone has a panorama test to determine the sex? Panorama also screens for other Trisomy disorders that other tests could miss, so in having Panorama done to find out the sex, it could be a good thing. From someone who just got results from Panorama indicating a possible issue and is currently waiting to find out whether or not my baby has Trisomy 13, I take serious offense to this.
If you don't want to know the sex of the baby, then don't get the Panorama test done. It's that simple.

I lurve taco bell, it is definitely my guilty pleasure. Also I think I was about 4'9" or not quite when I got my learner's permit at 15. Not sure how that would have worked if a booster was required till 4'9". (I'm only 4'11" now)

I selected to have their pics swapped in with pics of puppies. And I felt a lot better about everything after that.

I agree with the PPs that an occasional treat (fast food, sweets etc.), whether for time or a parent's sanity, is fine if the child eats healthy most of the time. Everyone deserves a treat sometimes!
But I think @NunyaBennis hit the real meat of @AnnieRoo13's story because it sounds like the MIL is letting "treats" get out of hand. I don't know how many nieces there are, but it sounds excessive for 2-3 kids to finish a dozen cookies before breakfast. A cookie is a treat, 4-6 cookies seems like a lot for a child under two in one sitting. I am a FTM, so maybe I am wrong, but this MIL seems to be over doing the grandma spoiling a bit.

Apparently it's now evolved to Rather. Where you can block all sorts of things like TV Spoilers and other things that annoy you on Facebook. Pretty brilliant app.

Yes! Exactly @DoubleUp8 you explained it better than I did. I don't see anything wrong with treats once in a while, I really really don't. My problem is my MIL feeding these kids crap against their parents wishes and not feeding them their proper meals. Another example- last week she posted a picture of one of them eating a doughnut and said that's what she had instead of dinner. Okay, maybe a doughnut AFTER dinner, but instead of? Not cool IMO.
Yes, as a FTM I totally realize that this opinion will likely change and I likely sound very ignorant, but that's not my intention. I just try to eat very healthfully myself and I want to pass that on to my child. I don't want my MIL feeding my kid 6 cookies instead of breakfast because she thinks she's being a good grandma.

I cringe when people say "I completely understand". No you don't, you can sympathize or you can relate, but you don't completely understand how that person feels. There are other factors like having a fight with their SO, bad day at work, etc. that go into it that don't correlate with your experience.

Sometimes I feel do bad because I don't know waft to say....I'm going to try and find that video and post the link.

DS goes out with my father every other Friday for Chikfila breakfast. Its their thing and they've done it since DS was around 18 months. My mom gives him sweet treats once a day when he is there.
At home, DS asks for broccoli and apples and water so I am not concerned. I let them spoil him but when it gets out of hand they get fussed at.

Yes, my parents and my inlaws spoil my DS, but he knows at home that's not how things work.
He's had a cookie for breakfast one time and that was not planned. I bought some cookies and had one after he went to bed, took one bite and they were not soft and chewy as I had hoped. I set it on the counter and forgot about it, doing other stuff and getting ready for bed. In the morning my husband asked me why I fed our son a cookie for breakfast. He found that cookie on the counter and ate it. Every day he can reach a little higher and it's maddening trying to keep him from everything!

Oh I'm all for 2 pieces, DD is PTed and she wears tankinis or bottoms with rash guards. I just don't like the triangle top bikinis for little girls, they are ridiculous.
Also, we only buy one pieces or tankinis for SD.

I'm pretty sure I might get flamed for this
but it's UO Thursday so it's okay.
DD isn't 2 yet so I don't know how I'll feel about it when she is. We eat very healthy around here but I see nothing wrong with the occasional treat. I love sweets so if I couldn't have treats every once in awhile I'd go crazy
:-bd

So, yeah, fast food on occasion, whatever, life happens. A cookie for breakfast (not a dozen!) every now and again is fun for everyone. But I'm with you on this - there is no excuse to regularly make unhealthy choices for a child. It's a shame.

I like meat really well done. All meat. Not burned but cooked to almost dryness. And I like my egg whites this way too. Really well done.
