A friend of mine did an actual get off my lawn post on FB yesterday. She was complaining about how parents don't teach kids manners anymore and it is so rude to run around in other people's lawns and especially ride your bike through it. Every single comment agreed with her.
I don't get it. She has 5 kids herself. I love living on a street full of kids and everyone plays in everyone's yards and driveways. James rode his 4 wheeler across everyone's grass yesterday. I keep them out of flower beds, but come on the grass? And her yard is no prize.
I can't stand when people do this. If it really bothered her, why the heck can't she just talk to you instead of putting it on facebook. And if she has a problem with kids in the yard, maybe she shouldn't live in a subdivision with a ton of children. I can't stand when people take stupid problems like that and complain on facebook. She most likely knew you would read it.
Oh, she yelled at the kid to get off her lawn. Lol.
My DH has yelled at kids riding their bike through our yard. I'm totally fine with it. I don't think there's any reason to be riding your bike through someone's front yard when we have sidewalks and live in a very quiet cul de sac, not to mention we have a part a block away.
Nice yard or not, my front lawn shouldn't be your kid's playground. Maybe it's different in hmp1 & alinnajo's areas because you have a lot of kids that all play together, but we don't. We have a couple kids here and there in our cul de sac, but they typically play in their yards, since we all have big yards in our area. If there were a kid riding a 4 wheeler through my yard, I'd have a real problem with that.
I've never heard that before, and I laughed too. At first I read it as "Obamacare" and was confused since tons of people call it that on CNN and I didn't think it was derogatory. I couldn't figure out why you were upset about it. :-)
I guess I don't see the big deal. I get if the kid is coming in the yard riding all around the house and being obnoxious. But just on the grass by the sidewalk, I wouldn't care. And if it were a real ATV, yes, I'd get annoyed because the tires would eat up the grass. But a kids ATV, no. Those things barely get any speed and the tires are not going to damage the grass. I guess I don't care about my lawn enough! And where I live, we don't have sidewalks, so there is no where for kids to ride when a car goes by.
I'm getting so sick of people promoting their home business' on facebook. I do not mind the occasional "I'm selling so and so, check it out!" but OMG there are some people who are posting multiple times a day for Beach Body, some WUN thing, Mary Kay and VI shakes. I think I need to just delete them instead of complain. ugh.
I don't mind the products that are actually worth a shit, but get out of here with that Advocare shit.

I think that's the difference. We have sidewalks that are maintained so use them not my lawn. If a kid goes off the sidewalk for a second, no biggy but if they continue to ride all over my lawn, yeah I'll say something. DH works super hard on our lawn to make it look nice. If my kid is playing on it with others fine but don't go riding your bike around my yard when we are no where in sight. Do it in your own yard.
I wouldn't want other kids playing in my yard without me because of the liability of it. What if they fall down in my driveway? Or get into my backyard and fall off the swing set?
Breaking into someone's backyard is obviously off limits but riding their bike from their drive onto mine, nbd. I feel more comfortable with kids running through my yard to get to their friends' house down the street than running down the street.
false. they can walk into any ER and get treatment. After that, they walk into any University and get a free education. Oh, and when they go to the dealership, they get to pick any key they want from a pile and drive off the lot. duh.
I was reading slow and was like "is she for fuckin real?! Gahhh oh car dealership, duh, joke."
I need more coffee.
LO usually chatters at himself in the morning but this morning he threw his monkey out of the crib and flipped. We've thus been fighting all morning as he didn't get his wake up time.
I did too. I also thought something might have changed with ACA, which is why I responded to @melody921 the way I did.( And yes, I should have had my morning Coke before posting.)
I absolutely hate when people call it Obummercare, though. I get it, you don't like him or the health plan, but please, have a little respect.I didn't life George W, but I didn't call anything he did "Bush-shit" or "Bushwad" or whatever little terms people used for him. I would imagine it's a pretty fucking hard job to run a country, even with advisors.
Mwahaha, I've never actually heard that. I agree, people are so disrespectful.

Exactly. Powerwheels weigh way less than a lawn mower. No damage to be done.
I finally bought dry shampoo and it's amazing. I may never wash my hair again. Ok that's an exaggeration but I did go much longer than acceptable between washes (for my type of hair). I'm afraid if I don't wash my hair I'll skip more showers than acceptable too.
Save your money and use baby powder. Works wonders!!!
I did that before I bought dry shampoo. This is so much easier and works 10x better IMO. I'm a convert!
Interesting. I've never actually used the dry shampoo because I've thought the baby powder worked so good. Now I'm going to have to branch out a little!
And I wouldn't let him do it if we didn't know the neighbors and we didn't all play together. I'm saying I would rather live in a community that embraced letting the kids run around. Teach manners about not playing on other's porches, opening mailboxes, flower beds...all things I have told James. Sidewalks are very uncommon here so it is the street or the yard.
I don't have a problem with kids passing through the front yard, but what I do have a problem with are the kids that hop our picket fence in the back yard cut through to our subdivision. They leave the gate open and I have seen several of them do it while I am outside! At least shut the damn gate.
We have a lot of fuddy duddies on this board I'm with @hmp1
I'm totally fine with being a fuddy duddy. :-)
We have 2 kids next door and a family with 5 kids across the street. They're awesome. Then we have 3 parentless kids at the end of the cul du sac that throw rocks at houses, ride bikes on lawns and pick flowers out of flower beds. If they were all as cool as the 7 kids in direct relation to my house, I probably wouldn't care as much, especially because I'm outside ALL THE TIME playing yard in the summer.
We have a lot of fuddy duddies on this board I'm with @hmp1
Not a fuddy duddy, but a former insurance agent that saw liability suits for the dumbest shit that lasted forever and drove up rates. So, get off my lawn, don't fish in my pond (hello drowning risk!), and whatever else would cause you to sue me.
Kid #1 - 09/03/12
Kid #2 - maybe???
Diagnosed with Severe Ashermans Hysteroscopy #10 - scar tissue grew back reblocking my right tube #11 or IVF with scarring still inside? 1 lone embryo from September 2016 retreival, dx with Trisomy 16, starting fresh
I like when I have bruises, especially when they look worse than they hurt.
Riding through lawns? No problem. Pee in it, walk in it, I don't care. But.....
Our neighbor from a few houses down would sit on her porch and watch her boys ride bikes up our driveway, across the lawn to our entry sidewalk, then down the steps....x500 times a day. There was a 6-8" deep muddy rut through the middle of our lawn that was probably 3 feet wide. That is fucking ridiculous. I wouldn't let my kid do it. DH primps our lawn every day so it just sucked. We let it go, but I'll say something this year... like hey, once you start destroying the grass, it's time to choose a different path or yard.

I was raking outside yesterday and there was so much trash that must have come into our yard this winter and gotten buried in snow. Seriously, people still litter? Grow up.
I haven't worn a dress/skirt of any kind since my wedding day.
OMG how did you survive being pregnant? I wore dresses all damn spring/summer when I was pregnant with DS. I lived in them really. I love wearing them now for work. Less fuss in the morning and I can show off some killer shoes!
Here's my FFFC, but from what others have said in other threads (not necessarily recently) I'm afraid to confess.
Hearing about everyone's toddlers I'm legitimately concerned about mine. I feel like he's regressing slightly and behind in some skills, but I don't know if that's true or if it's because I'm actually comparing him to everyone else his age. I'm losing sleep at night, but I feel it's a tiny bit too early to bring it up to his Pedi. Also, my DH thinks I'm insane. I don't think I've hidden here how I occasionally overreact and over think things re: my children so I can't blame him. On the other hand, he puts rose colored glasses on for everything and will always be in denial even if there were signs something bigger was wrong...so that doesn't help either.

I think you have an concerns you should bring them up to the pedi. Why not and sleep better at night? That is what they are there for. To listen to concerns get advice and of course the healthcare aspect of it. You pay them, you can ask as many damn questions, justified or not, as you want! I'm sure he's doing great. It's hard when there are so many kids his age doing different things. I think B is the smartest kid ever but that doesn't mean he isn't quite up to snuff on certain things. If you're concerned, ask. There's no right or wrong time.
ETA: And wear a dress for god sakes. You don't know what you're missing
@cheenomae, I'm tall and hate my knees/legs, so I try to never wear dresses. Short ones are too short, and long ones aren't ever long enough. I get you. :-) I'd also never wear a dress or skirt without spanx, so I prefer pants/capris anyway.

Anytime you are losing sleep over something, it is worth bringing up your concerns to your pedi. Big hugs.

Could it also be from garbage pick up? I swear the day after our garbage pick up I always find more trash in our front yard.
it's typical stuff that people throw out their windows. Cigarette butts, coffee cups, soda cups etc.
I emailed DH today about a couple of things after work. I then asked him what the big clunk noise was this morning because it woke me out of a dead sleep.
I couldn't contain my laughter when he wrote back " The slamming this morning was my head off the towel bar in the bathroom. I bent over to move the scale." I legit LOL'd at work. I have no idea why it was so funny but picturing him doing this as 5:45am is hilarious!
Yesterday, my new supervisor literally said something about a former employee always eating crackers (like actually eating crackers) but the way she said it was the way it was used on here. I couldn't stop myself before I said, "And she was sitting over there just eating her crackers..." I died laughing, but maybe it was only funny to me.....
I've missed you guys! This whole doing two jobs thing doesn't leave time for bumping!

I think because I really didn't know what I was missing. DD is an end of August baby and DS is mid September, so I definitely dealt with the heat. I can't imagine doing it again though!
Thanks, @Pokedot and @HMP1, I realize I really do need to have my concerns brought up because I find myself constantly being sad around him instead of just taking things for what they are. That's probably because I'm not even really sure if anything is going on or not. I'll definitely talk to the Pedi.
@MarisaKathleen, my knees are part of the reasons I haven't worn a dress or skirt...the weirdest knee shape ever!! Also, I've never worn spanks...might have to give them a try!
@IndigoVader We have a Litter Robot and it amazing. I got it used because they are Fing expensive, but in hindsight, I think new might have been better. It cleans after each use, but unlike my littermaids, actually contains the smell. My friend has 5 cats and you can't tell. Honestly, they're worth it.
Here's a UO (or PO... whatever): This society is way too litigious. If you or your child is trespassing on someone else's property, they shouldn't be liable if you hurt yourself, esp if their property is a normal house and yard in a subdivision. You should be liable for breaking the law and trespassing. Now if they set a trap for your kids or something, you may have a case
I watched American Idol for a split second this season. There was a young gay woman as a contestant. When they showed her parents and they were two moms that adopted her, I thought OH GREAT...... now people are going to think these women adopted this child and turned her gay.
I feel like maybe I shouldn't have even anticipated that reaction from other people.
I hate wearing shorts. I own exactly 1 pair and even then I am so self conscious when I wear them.
Shorts are the devil. I will wear them to run. But aside from one denim pair that get matched with cowboy boots for concert-going :-D I despise all others.
I'm wearing an ill-fitting shirt that I didn't even know I still had....because I haven't done my laundry in 2 weeks. I am wearing maternity underwear and it's barely holding my pad in place because it's so big.

No, I say there are a lot of assholes who would say exactly this, so you're probably right to assume they would.
I'm sad that Stephen Colbert is taking over Late Night from David Letterman. I just can't imagine him as himself and not his Colbert role.
I guess this is an UO not a FFFC, but I'm WFH today so I'm playing.
I was thinking about this all morning. I think I am just sad about not having the Colbert Report anymore. I don't watch late night tv so I doubt I will see much of his new show.

I think it is going to be weird, and that he is going to have a really hard time competing with the Jimmies....

I got a 20oz sugar free redbull today and started feeling like I have a UTI half way through it. Quit.drinking.this.shit.
