I ignored DS for what felt like an eternity this morning but was really probably only 5-10 minutes. He was whining/yelling about not being able to find a shirt to wear -- after he had loudly declared he didn't like what I picked out for him. So I ignored his ranting until he came in and talked nicely.
That's pretty much what the Super a Nanny recommends to do. Sounds like you're right on!
YES! I haven't read anything by Super Nanny, but this is validating, ha.
I didn't know Super Nanny recommended it either. But I do this too. I tell him that I won't talk to him until he can calm down and stop whining. The whining drives me crazy.
Yep she says not to answer him until he asks you in a normal voice.
Does she just say to ignore, or should I be telling him, "Eli, I'm not responding to you until you can speak nicely without whining or yelling"?
I blew a gasket at the ER doctors and nurses yesterday and I am not sorry.
FiL got diagnosed with congestive heart failure and they keep sending him home and try an outpatient program. Except, it got worse every time. 6 chest X-rays later in two weeks we took him in and get a 'he looks healthy enough' from nurse ratcunt at the triage desk. Yeah, except it's not about looks.
Well, 7 hours later I grabbed the oxygen monitor and clipped it on him when he came back from the washroom. 76% brought them in there quickly.
And the first thing they said 'he needs to be admitted'. No shit. Fucking cheap healthcare. So sick of this crap.
lol at ratcunt. But seriously, sorry they're such a-holes. That's scary.

I'm wearing pantyhose today. Under a maxi skirt. With deodarant on my thighs.
Get the Monistat chafing gel. It's so great especially when PG. And it doubles as foundation primer!
Body Glide. I use it every day in the summer.
DH uses this for marathons - I've never thought to try it! I do like the monistat stuff, but I bet the body glide would go on more evenly because it's in a deodorant-like stick form.
I'm still working on a confession. All mine so far have actually just been random thoughts so I haven't typed em.
V has a birthday party for 2 girls from GS tomorrow. We still have not bought gifts. I don't know what to get.
I kind of don't want to get anything. Most likely by the time V's birthday rolls around at the end of summer and we throw her a party no one will come. I wouldn't even go to this party but I know V wants to go.
Art supplies? A board game? DS has a bday party for a boy in his class tomorrow and we bought a game.
I wish we could buy a new house and walk away from this one. We owe so much more than it's worth. We are never going to get out of it. When I see that we can literally get a house that's three times bigger than ours for a smaller payment I kind of want to cry.

Is refinancing an option? We saved a ton of money on ours and were very surprised on our appraisal value. Granted we bought a fixer upper and put tons of work into it but still. It's worth a shot with the mortgage rates now. It was very easy too!
Really? It works in my house. Lo understands what 'whining' is now and knows it won't get her anything. "use your words" or "say please" and ignore until she stops freaking out. Different instructions, I guess, but same meaning.
Mine too, not every time, but 90%. She starts to whine or throw a fit and we remind her to use her words or ask for help. She stops the tears and says 'help' or 'please' and gets her way a whole lot faster than when she yells 'have' at me.

@Pokedot@cheeseandrice DH has gone three places trying to qualify for HARP. Our mortgage is through Sallie Mae, but for some reason we don't qualify (DH was told why but he didn't understand). I don't know how much our interest rate is (it's DH's mortgage since it was his house before we were married or engaged), but the refi was going to save us $450 a month on our payments. When DH was trying the HARP thing, they appraised our house for about $40,000 less than what we owe
Basically we were idiots and should never have bought the house.

Are you on the deed to the house? I only ask because we were in a similar situation. Our house was completely under DH before we got married just in case. We just put my name on when we refied and that was 6 years after the fact. We didn't know it but we could have paid a lawyer $70 and a $14 register fee to get my name on the house. I'd highly recommend if you're not. I wish we'd known sooner. Thank goodness nothing happened to DH in that time. I would have been screwed. Have you talked to a credit union? I'm not super familiar with the whole process but we were with US Bank and switched our mortgage to a CU. Our original mortgage was through a MSHDA program. It was to get the lowest interest rate at the time. I think we couldn't refi for 5 years or sell. At that point we were at a interest rate of 5% now we're at 3.5% HUGE difference and we're at a 15 year mortgage instead of 30.
I finally bought dry shampoo and it's amazing. I may never wash my hair again. Ok that's an exaggeration but I did go much longer than acceptable between washes (for my type of hair). I'm afraid if I don't wash my hair I'll skip more showers than acceptable too.
What kind did you get? I typically only use the Bix Sexy brand, but I got the Dove brand the other day and it is surprisingly great! the Herbal Essence and Tresemme ones SUCK.
Bastite for blondes. It had the best reviews on Amazon and then I found it at TJ Maxx for $5.99! I think it was only like $7 on amazon too. It's really magical for that price.
I use the yellow Suave one. It's fantastic and it's $2.50. The Tresemme one is terrible.
I want to fire my babysitter because she's too professional. It's so annoying. She's a SAHM who is licensed, but only watches DD (and only DD) in her home twice a week. She sends us monthly newsletters. This last one said "Attention all parents: just a reminder, payment is due upon drop off." First, we are the only parents. You are not watching any other kids. Second, two times I forgot to write a check at 6 am when I'm running late, but DH paid you your $20 at pick-up. Then she sent me a correspondence e-mail to make me aware of a few things. She referred to me at Mrs. Smith like 12 times. And worded it like a a formal legal document. I just want to tell her to get over herself.
I haven't cooked a meal all week. Between MIL being here and my parents being out of town and wanting to hang out with the baby when they got back, I've been eating like a queen on someone else's dime. It's been fab.u.lous. Oh and I gained 6 lbs this week. Being royalty has it's downside.
I feel really behind on my bumping. I didn't even open the UO yet but the entire first page of my gmail is order confirmations and shipping notifications. It's obvious what I've been doing with my internet time.
You weren't idiots. I'm guessing he bought it like 10 years ago? at the height of the HOUSING BOOM!? It sucks how inflated everything was.
Yep. The realtor even bragged to FIL how overpriced she was able to sell the house to us (DH) for.
I'm not on the house at all. I didn't realize how easy it would be to do that.
For HARP, DH tried our mortgage company, a CU we had our cars financed through, and another big bank. All three said everything looked great. We even got the huge packet of papers to fill out. Then at the end (luckily before the paperwork was done) they see there's a problem and cancel it. I really don't understand it. DH is frustrated and doesn't want to try again. I can't blame him. I don't know how a fourth company would make it work.
I can't take you seriously when you speak with no accent whatsoever until you say some Italian or Spanish word. I'm talking about you Giada de Laurentis.

Well I'd do what I stated above. Its well with it if something were to happen and it's great peace of mind! It was pretty painless and inexpensive!
I find it annoying when ILs are babysitting, we tell them bedtime is 7:30 (same as it's ALWAYS been) and we come home at 9 to find that they're still on the first bedtime story. That's a 90-minute variance people, WTH. I would like to be more chill about it, but what happens is that DS is up at 3:30 a.m. screaming bc he's convinced it's morning. Then at 6:45 a.m., I can't get his exhausted ass out of bed for school.
Not sure if this is normal or flameful but I usually don't go get my kid in the morning until he's super noisy. He's been talking in his crib for at least 30 minutes and I'm laying here reading TB and catching up on emails. Crap now I feel guilty and I'll go get him.
We do this too. If we go get him right when he wakes up, he's a giant crab ass... he needs his alone time to get acclimated to the day I guess. He's been up since 6, just a-chattin' and a-bangin' around. Sometimes if we go in too early he will say 'noooooo' when we come in, so I don't feel so bad.
So jealous. DD cries for us to come get her the second she wakes up. She literally pops up and is always standing waiting for us. It's no less than a minute after the first noise I hear from her.
I'm irrationally excited that I signed up for a cake decorating course in a few weeks. Sometimes I think I would have made a good 1950s housewife for the time I like to spend in the kitchen. Then I realize I like to cook, but don't really like anyone else to expect me to like to cook, so that probably wouldn't have worked.
You can, but I think she's still too young to get it.
Really? It works in my house. Lo understands what 'whining' is now and
knows it won't get her anything. "use your words" or "say please" and

When I tell DS2 to use his words, he says "Please." But that's when I'm willing to give into what he wants. When he's whining because I took away something that's going to hurt him or someone else, I can't get him to stop whining by just telling him to stop whining or use your words.

A friend of mine did an actual get off my lawn post on FB yesterday. She was complaining about how parents don't teach kids manners anymore and it is so rude to run around in other people's lawns and especially ride your bike through it. Every single comment agreed with her.
I don't get it. She has 5 kids herself. I love living on a street full of kids and everyone plays in everyone's yards and driveways. James rode his 4 wheeler across everyone's grass yesterday. I keep them out of flower beds, but come on the grass? And her yard is no prize.
If I get through this day without slapping someone, it will be a miracle. I just got a call from a colleague saying, "I received an email from a lesbian magazine that wants us to advertise for foster parents, but I wasn't sure if we were desperate enough to call them."
WTF, gay couples can be foster parents too. Every day, we hear about how there are more kids in the system than homes. Just another example of a super-Christian who's always talking religion being totally out of touch with the fact that you don't have to be heterosexual to be able to provide a loving home.

Ditto. Sometimes on a good day she screams to is by name. MOMMY! DADDY! AUGGIE! Because, you know, the dogs totally going to come open the door and get you out.

I can't stand when people do this. If it really bothered her, why the heck can't she just talk to you instead of putting it on facebook. And if she has a problem with kids in the yard, maybe she shouldn't live in a subdivision with a ton of children. I can't stand when people take stupid problems like that and complain on facebook. She most likely knew you would read it.
@MarisaKathleen no man would ever ever ever not want to have sex because of bruises. I know they can get nasty, but I'm sure it's the last thing on his mind!
If I come into LO's room too quickly, he says "move it! Move it!" We're working on "move, please"...
I'm getting so sick of people promoting their home business' on facebook. I do not mind the occasional "I'm selling so and so, check it out!" but OMG there are some people who are posting multiple times a day for Beach Body, some WUN thing, Mary Kay and VI shakes. I think I need to just delete them instead of complain. ugh.

Eh, maybe I'm an old fuddy duddy but I don't want people walking all over our lawn. If my child is outside playing with other kids fine but if they are running all over the the place and through my lawn and my child isn't play with them I'd have a problem. I think it's rude.
ETA: I would be complaining about it on facebook though.

I was just talking about this the other day. Arbonne and Beachbody are the top 2 right now. Driving me crazy! Especially the Arbonne. So and so is "head district manager", "regional manager" etc. Exactly how many managers do you need for a population of 15,000 people? Everyone and their brother is selling it!
