Tips on sleeping comfortably?

Anyone sleeping well? Between the leg cramps and discomforts I'm not getting much sleep. Side dleeping is not natural for me. Borrowed a friends snoogle. That thing is enormous. I feel quite good actually when I'm on my feet all day but my hips hurt when I'm in bed. Any suggestions ?

I have 50 pillows all over my bed and hope for the best. Honestly, I am just realizing that sleep is just a thing of the past and I guess my body will try to catch up when it can. I've tried tylenol pm, benedryl, Unisom- nothing has worked for me. Who really needs sleep anyways, right? .............. :((
Consider this practice for the future, OP. Yes, it sucks that you can't sleep, but learning how to function on a little less sleep now will be helpful very soon. I recommend chocolate.

Thin Mints is always the answer.

  • I use the snoogle

I have one end under my head, run the long part along my back and put the other end under my knees to help with the hip pain.

I try and not drink too soon before bed because it is a pain to get in and out of bed and readjust with that huge pillow

I find sometimes a small pillow under my belly since it doesn't hit the mattress helps even out my hips too or when I'm sitting on the couch on my side. I feel like the weight of my belly when I'm on my side is causing the most discomfort right now.

Only when I manage to exhaust myself completly do I sleep well. It's hard to get tired enough to sleep through pain, night sweats and my brain latching onto and focusing on every noise.

As far as getting up to use the bathroom, I'll stop drinking an hour before bed and if I need something in the middle of the night I limit myself to just a few sips vs chugging a whole glass.

I can't stand pillows under my belly, I know I am weird for that one. It doesn't matter if I did, LO won't tolerate anything pushing on him and will start kicking like crazy.

I gave up on caring up sleeping on my back, if it means I sleep for an hour I'll do it.

Call it practice. While you will get more comfortable sleep when baby is here, it will be broken up for a while.

I totally sleep on my back still, especially if my hips hurt. Not as often as I used to, but I've found that if I get uncomfortable on my back my body naturally rolls to a side in my sleep, so I call it a win.

  • Hmm... I was going to say become a vampire because they don't need sleep. However, I did some research just now and found out that REAL vampires actually do need sleep. Sorry. I guess we just have to suck it up.
