STM here - and I say don't stress it - do what feels best. I struggled with breastfeeding so I did both ( but I did breastfeed for 16 months ) . I found that it got easier for me if I nursed as much as I could, pumped 3 - 4 times a day, and used bottles for everything in between. My kid didn't suffer from nipple preference so it wasn't so bad. I tried going exclusive and it was simply too painful for me to tolerate - and I was reaching a point where my nipples needed to heal. I did get closer to exclusively breastfeeding as the months passed though. There's no one "right" way to approach it - all I say is do as much as you can tolerate and don't feel guilty if you need to supplement.

I plan to BF until child directed weaning, or until I want to stop (which will be well over a year). That being said there is so much information out there about BFing and FF, you should probably take a class, read a book, and speak to an LC.
