The Warm Weather has turned my LO into a monster!!

So we have been spending a ton of time outside since it is so nice out.  We have taken little man in the jogging stroller, wagon, and let him walk all around the trails, and playgrounds by our house.  He absolutely loves it.  BUT... trying to bring him back into the house, he throws the worst temper tantrum, and it lasts for a while.  Yesterday he cried all through dinner, while still trying to shove food in his mouth. He screams, throws his arms in the air, it's crazy because I have never seen this side of him before, he was just so upset.  I am hoping that these tantrums are only because being outside is a new thing to him, the rough winter we had kept us indoors. Are any Mommas out there suffering from temper tantrums yet???

  • Yep and for the same reason, Thoren is ALL about the outdoors right now. If we take him out for errands for example, and come home without playing outside? He melts down. He will go to the front or back door and bang on it and yell, until someone takes him out or until i can distract him. It is definitely frustrating.

  • Yup. This morning, I was telling DH about how we played outside yesterday--big mistake. Millie wanted to go outside NOW because I mentioned outside, but we couldn't at the time. Complete meltdown.

  • This is us 100%!  It just got nice enough to have him outside this past weekend.  He loves it, but God Forbid if you want to get him cleaned up for lunch.  They said he's doing the same thing at DC too, but all the kids at DC have had such cabin fever, that they've let them stay outside for much longer than they usually do.  On the plus side, all the fresh air and extra activity have prolonged his nap time from 1 hour to up to 2.5 hours!

  • I could have written his myself.  DS even goes and gets his coat and bangs on the door.  He even continued his tantrum through dinner the other night too!  But naps and bedtime have been so easy.

  • dd is the same way...when we got home yesterday we walked up and down the street, and then she started walking up other houses' path ways and driveways so we kept picking her up...she didn't like that....and we brought her in the house and you would think the most horrible thing happened...cried and threw her self on the floor...ugh so we let her run around outside....but then when it was time to eat, she was ok with coming in...surprisingly....i wonder if dc has a hard time with getting her back in?  she loves being outside so i'm glad we moved....our old house didn't have a fenced in yard and we had a lot of bears....
    but yeah...she's starting with tantrums....yay

  • Yup, same here. They both start freaking out with excitement as we head outside, and if we're not outside for an adequate amount of time, they are hysterical when we come back inside.

Just leaving the playground at the park set my DS off with a tantrum tonight. He loves to play outside. However, he was so tired from all the playing he passed out after his bath tonight.

  • Yup.  The outside is so fantastic after all this winter that Kins just can't get enough of it.  We went out to feed the chickens this morning and there was total meltdown because we had to come in.
