Anyone else trying to find all these enraging expletives? All I found was someone saying "damn names" about the Kardashians. If that you think is "unnecessary cursing" then, my friend, you need to toughen up a bit.

Toughen up? Please. I dont need to do any such thing. If you dont need to curse, then dont. Theres no reason for it, thats all i was saying. All this is getting old and obviously you and whoever else have a problem and are blowing this out of proportion. I dont have time for it..
Her meltdown just made me totally think of my FIL. He's from NY and runs a garbage company (seriously he's not Tony Soprano...well maybe) and his company started expanding down south and they relocated to a backwoods, bible thumping area. FIL is the lyrical gangsta in the way he can use all forms of the F word in grammatical correct contexts. His employees were mortified so he has to preface all meetings saying "don't worry about my swearing, as long as I don't follow up the "F" with you"

You keep saying that you don't like the look of Kadence with a C because you don't like Cs. But yet you chose two names (Kadence and Grace) that contain the letter C. Clearly, you can't dislike it THAT much.
I don't like either name, truthfully, but if I had to choose, I would choose Aspen. I don't think it's 'cute' to match the names based on the 'K' factor and I don't particularly like Cadence.

Kadence and Aspen are awful. And, yes- Kadence is misspelled. It actually has a red squiggly line underneath it as I type it. You have already misspelled your first daughter's name. Please don't do the other the same disservice.
@jaskls09 Im going to say this as nicely as possible. You need to know your place. You said this is your first time here so we gave you some leeway and instructions. Maybe you should of done a little research on our group. WE are a group of people, many of whom have advanced degrees in English, linguistics, sociology, international studies and the like. If you had read even a few posts just from today, you'd know the regulars here like to discuss names and meaning, as well as, help those who truly seek advice. What this board IS NOT is a place to get personal praise on your misspelling abilities. You are not so holier than thou, that you have the right to lecture us about using the word "damn". Especially when you are not a member of this community. You're not the first person to get all bent out of shape because we didn't like your choices and I know you won't be the last.

Kamryn isn't a name. It's a misspelled version of Cameron.

Say it as nicely as you want. I am not getting all bent like you seem to think I am. Im just surprised at how childish your acting, even though your "educated". I am truly seeking advice, because I would like to know what other people, that I dont know, think. I wasnt trying to get praise. I wasnt trying to be rude. I wasnt trying to be mean. I wasnt trying to act all "holier than thou". im not that type. I was wanting ADVICE and you, my dear, would be the last person I would want it from. You act like im all bent up or over reacting when I all I said was that girl didnt have to curse for no reason. A member of this community? I dont want to be if this is how you treat people. Just because you didnt like my choices is no reason for me to get mad and i wasnt even mad, lol. And I would be the last person to try to act or say that I am holier than thou. This is so twisted. You are trying to say im "acting" like that and thats so far from the truth. I just wanted help and advice not an argument, which you seem to come here prepared for.

She's telling you that you don't get to come in here and dictate our responses and whether or not we are allowed to curse. You asked for opinions and they were given. End of story.

Why ask our advice if you don't care what we say? I wouldn't say I'm mad, I'm annoyed. Annoyed because you're delusional if you think you aren't misspelling names like Kamryn or Kadence. And delusional if you think you don't come off as holier than thou when you tell strangers on the internet to stop saying the word "damn" and say "have a curse free day!!!1!".
Hey, ladies, a reminder about already-named children. I think we can safely talk to the OP about Kadence as a potential name and our thoughts, but let's please leave Kamryn out of it, ok?
Sorry, wasn't my intention... I wasn't going to say anything until OP started arguing that it wasn't misspelled. But point taken, I'll back off now.
Let the record stand that you did not ask for advice. You asked for opinions in your choices. You gave us two options and we gave our opinions. Advice takes the form of an open ended question in which you ponder the answers given to you. Pondering has not happened. You started off as defensive and have moved onto aggressively redundant. You want our advice? throw us some other names that you have talked about. Maybe we can help you discover some new names that you hadn't even though of. That is our strong suit and our best advice.
Ladies- I don't think we should make comments on her other daughters name though, it's been an unspoken rule for awhile that it's just not cool. I am truly sorry if we upset you about Kamryn's name. I'm sure she is a beautiful little girl and the name fits her perfectly.
I also dont believe Kadence is considered a wrong way to spell it.
Cadence is a literal English language word meaning "rhythm." We have spelling variations for names that are just names - like Catherine vs. Katherine. But names that are words only have one correct spelling, because English words usually only have one correct spelling.
This.
Also, it doesn't really matter what you were thinking when you decided to spell Kadence with a K as much as it matters how it will be perceived. You can't control how other people perceive a name, you can only control what that name is.. Most of us (on this board, at least) are going to see Kadence and think it's cutesy, juvenile, and misspelled, even if you don't think it's any of those things. So pick a name that communicates what you want people to hear. I want my daughter to grow up into a mature, intelligent, confident woman whom people will take seriously, and to me, using a name that's merely "cute" is not going to convey those things to the world.
Just wanted to repost that I agree with all this! I'm usually open for interpretations in spellings but for an actual word that has a meaning in the english language it should be spelled the way the word is spelled otherwise it will come off as trying to be trendy or cute.

I actually really appreciate that. She is very beautiful and smart. Thank you. And if I could really just start this over.. I really would love to. I wasnt trying to offend anyone. I would give other names we have talked about but alot of other people dont seem to like the different spelling, which I do. So truly, thank you, but no thank you.
^^^^^ anytime, I'm actually not a evil bitch. Well, you didn't sound like you're popping that baby out anytime soon so I suggest hang out the board and check out threads like "top 5 girl names". Just to get some inspiration. You may be surprised and some of the awesome names some of these ladies will suggest. My own tastes have really evolved since being here and I'm not afraid to admit that.

What is it that you like about "different spellings"? Do you want a name that is trendy? Cute? Not very common? Because I just want to say you could try to find a name that fits those categories without being misspelled. Just some ideas --

Good point and good suggestions. I don't really see the purpose in using "different spellings" for their own sake when you could use a name that is genuinely unusual but still beautiful, sophisticated, and meaningful. Different spellings can lead to a lot of headaches for your child, who will spend the rest of her life spelling out her name, and to a lot of judgments about her education and background (those judgments may not be fair, but people will make them whether they're fair or not), whereas an unusual but correctly spelled name can be familiar enough to spell but still refreshing.
