Baby Names

Which Name?

We find out the gender of the baby next Tuesday!
We have our boy name but my girl name, I cant choose because I love them both so much.
Either Kadence Grace or Aspen Grace.
My daughter just turned five and her name is Kamryn.
May I please get some advice?
This is so hard.

Re: Which Name?

  • I would go with Aspen, unless you want your children to be confused for Kardashians.

  • I think Kadence is beautiful, but like pp prefer it spelled Cadence.
  • Kardashian? I dont even know their names, lol. Just that there is a Kardashian show. I have always been fond of K's. I didn't want to do a K and then a C.
  • Aspen for sure.  Cadence is just okay to me, and two girl names with a K is just way too much.

  • I love Grace as a first name.

Then I would go for Aspen.

Even though you might not know the Kardashians, the majority of the population does and that they all start with K.

This. Then again, I am all about names being properly spelled.

  • Really? I didnt even think of that. Two K's is a no, then?
  • I thought it would be cute, lol.
  • I dont believe there are "correct" spellings with any name these days and I also do not like plain. Kadence is just the C changed. I have never been fond of C's and never will be. And because I think its cute, doesnt mean I am stupid. I have thought of my child and the babys future with every name I liked and have come across. How would the name Kadence affect her future so badly?
  • Im not being rude, I am just trying to figure out your logic.
  • I understand what you're saying, but you did ask everyone's opinion and the general consensus is no. But dude, do whatever you want. I think as a professional adult I would want my name spelled correctly, but that's just me.

  • No, not a silly fear. I meant plain like Brittany or Ashley. Cadence with the C, doesnt do it for me, and seems plainer and the John name is alittle too far. I understand too far also.
  • I also dont believe Kadence is considered a wrong way to spell it.
  • Makes sense.
  • But I really do appreciate everyone's opinion! Opens your eyes to others views that you wouldnt or dont see yourself. Thank you!
  • There is a correct spelling and incorrect spellings for every word. Cadence or Aspen. No one goes around spelling everyday words differently phor phun. Sayme ghoes wyth naymes.

  • I'd go with Cadence, spelled this way. The other posters have pretty much explained my reasons why I would nix the K.

I don't really like Aspen because of the "ass" sound that starts it.

  • No, I don't know the Kardashians and no I am not trying to spell it to fit any trend. I like K's and Kadence is a pretty name to me. I never would of thought of the Kardashians, they are not relevant in my life and no I don't know their 'damn' names or that they start with K's.  I don't understand why your are getting upset or rude. I never try too hard to fit in and because you don't know me, you assume. Which makes you look foolish. I could care less what you think or feel. I just wanted other peoples opinions.
    Sorry.

I just wanted an opinion, not an argument.
    Thanks :)
  • I see what you mean.
  • I will definitely take into account the wrong spelling of a word.
  • I was actually only talking to one person being rude. Not multiple. I just wanted opinions, not an argument. thats all.

Call you out? No it wasnt you. It was the one cursing for no reason. Like I said, only wanted opinions not arguments. Arguments are worthless to me. Thats not why I started this discussion and yes, everyone has a good point and has given me things to consider, which I will do so.
  • Oh I see, call them out. No, thats not why I am here.
  • Im sorry im new to this, so quote functions and everything, I dont know how to do yet. This is actually my first time commenting or writing on here. And MauiBliss, thanks :) I believe I will
  • Oh, i understand perfectly what it means, I just didn't know I was suppose to call someone out because they were rude. I am not 15. I see the quote button now, so thanks again!
  • Hmm.. Okay Thanks!
  • Someone needs to calm down a bit....

I seriously don't get this. If Cadence doesn't "do it for you" then neither would Kadence.
If you really have that much of a problem with Cs (again, I really don't understand) don't pick a C name.
  • I love Aspen

I was talking about the C in Kadence.
  • Seriously dislike both names. Aspen is a city or a tree and the only NN I can see (and so can her classmates) is Ass. Cadence is NMS but at least it's real and if you and your partner are big music people I think it would work. With a K is terrible. Now this is my opinion which you asked for.

What I never get is why people don't seem to understand that "opinions" and "praise" aren't the same thing. No one here has been rude. This is an online forum so you can get a broad spectrum of opinions from people who don't have to worry about coming off as rude as they would be IRL. It's very easy to be in your bliss bubble with friends and family who do not upset a hormonal, pregnant woman. Here, you have women from varying ethnicities, education levels, professions, geographic locations, and religions. It's a fantastic random sampling of how the entire world, not just your bliss bubble, will judge a name. If the majority of people from this vast pool tell you it sounds like a Kardashian thing, a tacky thing, a trendy thing, etc; then understand it's something you can't just bury your head in the sand over.
  • I do not like Aspen because of the "ass" like others are saying.  That is really unappealing to me.

Cadence is NMS but it's not bad.  I am sorry but I truly do not understand not liking a letter of the alphabet.  That is beyond silly to me.  Kadence looks like it's trying too hard to be cutesy and matchy to big sister which doesn't work for me.

Also, I'm Ashley and I don't think my name is plain.  And certainly don't think it's a worse name choice than Kadence or Aspen.

Yes, I understand this, but cursing for no reason, Yes that is rude. Antything else is fine, thats what im here for. But if it goes to cursing, for no reason. then Yes, I consider this rude.
  • it doesnt even matter, but yes saying 'damn names', is rude. im not making a big deal out of it. It doesnt matter to me, because im not going to lose sleep over it. Does this arguing happen everytime someone asks about a name? it seems honestly to be a waste of time.
