September 2013 Moms

FFFC!

Can I start!? I've been saving one for days. The other night both kids took forever to go to bed so after I took a quick shower it was late and I was exhausted. When I got out I realized all my clean underwear were down in our laundry room (two long flights of steps away). I hate going commando so I dug around in the back of my dresser and found a pack of disposable mesh undies that I brought home from L&D. Yep, that's what I wore to bed!

Re: FFFC!

  • Don't really think it is flame worthy but DD is getting a hair cut today(well before the 1st birthday marker). It is about 4 inches long on top, the back is about an inch and the sides are 4 inches. So I'm cutting the long sides of to match the back and probably trimming a little bang. I do hair so DH will hold her while I cut and have someone else take pictures.

  • DS1 has had routine cuts since 6 months. He looked like a clown with long curls on the sides and almost nothing on top.

If I'd had a boy he'd probably be getting short cuts since just a few months old. I like short hair on little boys.
  • DH is going back to work tonight after being home with us for 2 weeks...I am shamefully glad to have him out of our hair for a bit!
  • Another out of town DH here... He's been gone 2 weeks and our house is such a mess. I feel like I don't have to rush to clean it when I'm home alone. He's coming back Sunday so looks like a busy weekend in store for me.

  • @drey1028 - last night's Parenthood was so good! I don't like what's going on with Julia and Joel though. Makes me sad.

  • I don't have one so I' ll use my DH's.
He gained more weight than me while pregnant and having a way harder time losing it. My cravings certainly didn't help the poor guy.

E rolled off of the bed yesterday.

I put him in the middle of our bed while I was getting dressed yesterday morning and he was laying there playing with his feet.  I was grabbing my clothes out of the closet with my back turned to him when I heard a "thunk."  I looked over and he was gone.  I was so freaked out for a minute, but when I looked over the other side of the bed he was there, in crawling position, just looking up at me.

  • My confession is that I'm feeling a little jealous that my 2 single best friends are moving into a house together.

Sounds like such a silly confession but I'm just jealous because a few years back when I was having relationship problems both of them were happy where they were and I really really did not enjoy living alone.
  • My 2 yr old and LO are watching tv so I can enjoy 20 mins and a cup of coffee in peace.

  • I let LO watch some Super Why while she's in her jumperoo in the morning, so I can get a pumping session in, make my coffee and go number 2.
  • Also I love HDBD more than I probably should. I wish more of you would post pics of your LOs. It's fun to see your babes growing. I get some people want privacy tho and respect that.
  • I watch The home shopping channels. I don't buy anything but I find myself flipping by and I always seem to stop and watch for a few minutes before I realize it.

I let E hang out in her exceosauce all the time. She loves the toys and lets me know when she has had enough. I know it's not good for her legs but she is having fun and I am getting things done around the house.

  • FFFC I wish I had had coffee and a candybar for breakfast. But I would have had a Reese's Egg. They are the best! DS has food sensitivities so no chocolate for me and coffee isn't the same without international delight.
  • I have another, I have a feeling very few of you would actually like me in real life. I really miss the way this board used to be where there could be snark and people still understood it wasn't "mean" it was just joking. I guess it changed because the "regs" left and the people who are still here weren't comfortable with the feel this board used to have? Or that the people who are post often now thought the way it used to be was "mean"? I don't know but I really wish there was more of a sense of humor around these parts. This place used to be cool, man.

And I'm not singling you out @twolittlewheels, it's not just you. But you've been here basically since the beginning like I have, why all the "llybeck is a meany head" stuff all of a sudden? I thought we were cool, what happened?!

We do have a private S'13 social group on The Bump that only has S'13 members in it. We can do HDBD in there if people want. But I do know that people forget that we have social groups and don't come on for it. Just an idea.

@jdoud77‌ I tried to join? are you ousting me!?

  • @ilybeck There is nothing dangerous about marijuana. Most people who have the same feelings as you have not been around it. Marijuana doesn't cause people to be so enraged that they murder or beat their spouse. Marijuana doesn't cause traffic accidents (if you have ever smoked you would know this). Marijuana doesn't cause you to neglect your children for the "next fix" (even alcoholics do this). And sorry but marijuana is NOT addicting. You can also detect marijuana by doing an oral swab or a urine test. My mom is a CPS worker. When she needs to tell if somebody has smoked recently she does an oral swab. There is no reason a cop couldn't do this as well. If marijuana is illegal because it is dangerous, then YES alcohol should be as well. Alcohol is ten times more dangerous. If the government actually gave a shit about you, they would make alcohol illegal. The whole reason it was made illegal was for financial reasons. It would make other goods too cheap and destroy the lumber industry because hemp would have been cheap and in abundance.

I've been around it a lot, A LOT. For basically my whole life and that's exactly where my feelings are coming from. Not everyone reacts the same way to it, I've been personally involved in situations that were very dangerous and harmful and the only factor involved was pot.

When I was a child I was around an alcoholic A LOT. Every time he got drunk he beat my mom and threatened to kill us all. Once he drove in oncoming traffic with all of us in the car and threatened to kill us if my mom didn't sleep with him that night. He caused my mom to go to the hospital and get stitches more than once. He bashed her in the face to the point that we thought she wouldn't be able to see out of that eye ever again.

So in MY experience alcohol should be illegal.

    See what I did there?

EVERYBODY has negative experiences with different things. Your negative experience doesn't justify making something illegal for everybody.

But it's already illegal, why does it HAVE to be made legal? By that logic everything should be legal. Not everyone has bad experiences with meth, coke, or heroine so should those be legal too? Weed can be harmful, just like those harder drugs or alcohol or cigarettes. In my opinion I don't see a reason to make it legal and I'm not going to change my mind, it's just how I feel. The more we can make access to drugs (any drugs) more difficult, the better. I get what you're saying and I know I'm probably the minority but I just don't see a reason to legalize. Decriminalize I can understand, but that's a whole separate issue.

  • I can't contain it any longer. All this talk of how the board use to be before the regulars jumped ship is so silly. I agree it was extremely entertaining and being a lurker I was always afraid to say something but I finally got some woman balls. All the regulars that jumped ship because a fellow regular manipulated a message is ridiculous. This is a group of people who support, care, laugh, and help one another but to get sooo upset that you give up something that you put so much time in over a person you don't even know IRL is crazy. Yes there are some people who were friends IRL and for them I get it. But at the end of the day this is the internet. People lie. People make themselves into whoever they want to be, if they so please. To completely quit because one Internet friend mislead you to believe something is silly. I feel the regulars were more ashamed than anything because they were so ugly to the woman who got unrightfully blamed. I think all you girls are the bees knees but at the end of the day I don't know if your lying or not...and I don't care. It's the internet. There are certain posters who I love and feel IRL we could be friends but if they ended up showing a different side I would move on. I wouldn't really think twice about it.
Well, most of us were friends with her IRL... however, I never stood up for her in all that drama for the exact reason you said, because you never really know. I didn't have proof and even though I really don't like MD I wasn't going to bash her for something I wasn't 100% certain she even did. I agree that a lot of people probably were ashamed that they stood up for Joc but 99% of them apologized. Yet the people who stood up for MD (who didn't even know the situation) wouldn't fucking let it go, they came to our board and bashed us when they were never privy to the back story. The real reason people left is because of privacy and security, look at how easily that message was falsified and it took some major sleuthing to figure out it was fake. We gave that woman access to our kids pictures and all of our personal info, she lives in the same state as me not too far away even. It's scary. That's why people left, not because they were hurt or ashamed although that certainly happened as well.

Ugh, I don't even want to drudge that crap up but I just want you to know the real reason most people don't post here much anymore. The private FB groups are at least somewhat more secure.

My only real issue, like I already said, is that people are so concerned now with offending people and hurting feelings. As you said, it's the internet, who fucking cares? Why would you (and by "you" I mean anyone) care about feeling uncomfortable posting, ever? I don't really understand saying that everyone should get over it (even though the issue is security and privacy) yet in the same breath admitting they were worried to post here and would only lurk. Lurking and being afraid to post anonymously on a pregnancy board is a bit more silly than being legitimately worried about your privacy on said board, IMO.

I think it's super silly to even compare marijuana to meth, coke or heroine. I get what you're trying to say that all things catagorized as drugs should be illegal.

In my experience, I was raised around all of the above. My dad was a chronic weed smoker. My mom was a meth addict, coke addict, heroine, you name it. My dad raised me since day one, with my mom in and out sleeping with men for more money to score more crap. He's worked so unbelievably hard to provide for my sister and I. He was always there, every morning every night. All the food we could ever want or need in the fridge..one day when I was 13, the cops arrested my dad because he had enough weed to last him a little while (cheaper to buy it that way) my mom was the one that called them and so I went without my dad and a mom over weed? It wasn't for long but the concept is whyyyy spend time and money arresting and holding these so called "criminals". Even the BIGGEST pot heads can raise and create a loving family, work hard at their job and have fun in life. I know you've brought up how it's driving under the influence that bugs you but honestly I have to beg to differ. Drinking soda or a wrap while driving or texting is a hundred times scarier. Now from the point of view being in the life of a crack addict.. She drained MY savings account... Stole my fundraising money for school.. Sold my toys as a kid.. I know non of this is the point but just food for thought I suppose

No worries, it's a rantable topic! I was on the other end of it, I had/have relatives that do much more than pot and actually maintain a job and home pretty well and I have relatives that only smoke pot and they literally have nothing and can't hold a job.

It's really about personal experiences but I can tell you that I have seen pot ruin families more than I have harder drugs or alcoholism. We have a couple that is very close friends to us, two kids and a baby on the way, and the husband's constant pot smoking is a huge issue for them, he forgets to pick up the kids, he chooses weed over spending time with them, etc. I can be as much of a family issue as drinking or other drugs. I'm not saying it's okay to do other drugs or have a problem with alcohol, I'm just saying that weed isn't a completely forgivable addiction either.

I think it's also silly to compare being under the influence of weed to drinking a pop/eating/texting while driving. I drink coffee every day on the way to work and have never had the slightest issue with it. But I've been high driving and have been with several other people who were high driving and have gotten in accidents because of it. Again, it's all about personal experiences and I'm not going to convince you to agree with me and I'm not trying to. It's just personal preference and beliefs.

    ***stuck in quote box!***

Ditto, I used to love beer but after having DD I want to gag just thinking about it. It's wine or nothing now. For our wedding I ordered 2 cases of wine since I know I won't be touching the kegs, I'm being a bit selfish but I'm the bride damnit!
  • My FFC? I didn't know any regs left because of the whole Joc/MD drama. If it's the people that were in her "circle" for lack of a better word, I feel like they fell off the board long before the shit hit the fan.
I was in her "circle" and didn't leave. Again, I think it was more about the issue of privacy for the people who stopped posting, not loyalty to Joc.

Did they realize those privacy issues among all of the drama? Or are they active in the FB group but not here?
I can't speak for everyone but most of those people specifically stated their issue was that they allowed themselves to get so close to someone and legitimately befriend someone that altered information like that, they gave her access to a lot of their personal information and pictures and they were worried that others would do the same thing.

The FB groups are more private so I get it if they are active there and not here, there are more security features and it's at least a little less "buggy" than TB. I don't know how close you were to her but some people had given her their phone numbers even because they had gotten that close, it's scary to think you made such a close friend and they ended up being a fraud, I can't fault anyone for feeling worried about their security or upset that their friendship may have been built on lies. People can think it's stupid to become actual friends IRL with someone based on a relationship that cultivated on an internet pregnancy board but I don't think there's anything stupid about that. It's sad what happened and I personally won't post pictures on here anymore because of it, I get it.
