@mrsbadkat, you beat me to it. As sugar said, pro-choice doesn't mean pro-abortion.
The pro-choice side is a wide spectrum of opinions on when it is ok and when it isn't. Pro-life is cut and dry: no abortions ever. I think a lot of people get confused because of the way the pro-choice side has been erroneously stigmatized.
YES. This is something that is not often brought up. We can all be pro-choice and our answers will all be different on when it's ok or not ok to terminate a pregnancy. But we all agree that it is my decision to make for myself.
Whoa whoa whoa! Hold it right there sister! I am pro life with exceptions for extenuating circumstances. (Like what@ MrsBadKat said) but because I am against big government butting their nose into our private affairs, I think it is the mother's choice. (Did that make sense?)
You need to step down off your high horse. There are way too many reasons a woman may NEED an abortion she does not want. You just threw very painful memories at them with no regard to how it would make them feel. Step off the insensitive bus and join the real world.
Gah, I am so mad I can't even make sense!
This makes you pro-choice. The pro-life movement allows for no such exceptions.
I need to do more reading before I open my big mouth, then. I guess this makes me pro-choice and the 14 year old me is floored. FLOORED.

See, you said what I was trying to say a lot more eloquently.
@peanutmuse if you could take hormonal bc over condoms, would you?
To clarity, I think its weird if condoms are your go to if other methods are an option.
Well to be honest, I can take hormonal birth control. I just won't. To me, the negative effects of hormones are more annoying than condoms.
So there's your answer.
I haven't gotten through the whole thread yet, but I'm on the same page as @peanutmuse. My H and I use condoms for BC b/c I don't like the side affects of hormonal BC.
@pashon432 my H doesn't like recycling because we have to pay (it's seriously $10/mo.).
My H's UO is that he hates celebrating birthdays. Even for KIDS! Luckily he knows that his UO isn't welcome and he better celebrate my birthday and our kids' birthdays each year.
MY UO's are lame... I'll just borrow DH's for now.
Just when I thought our board was on the lame train... Holy stirring the pot, Batman! I just can't believe someone would bring up Lima beans!!! @peanutmuse
Dammit, I checked the UO earlier this morning with just one page and I come back to Easter Bunny basket, crucified bunnies, abortions, and Lima beans. Wtfff. @sapatel I saw that book and its so cute.

@bethughknee hearing someone who had a conservative Christian upbringing being willing to be open to new viewpoints is awesome. That's why a lot of people who are pro-choice prefer the term anti-choice to pro-life. Pro-choice doesn't equal pro abortion. There are tons of people who are pro-choice who would never have an abortion. I'm glad the vast majority of ladies on this board are reasonable people.

The problem with some of the people out there who feel like they need to YELL AND TELL EVERYONE THEY ARE A CHRISTIAN is that they are smearing the good name of Believer. They spread more hate than they do love and that's just not what Christianity is about. Sometimes I wonder if some people scratched "judge not, lest you be judged" out of their Bibles so they didn't have to see it anymore.
@bethughknee I think we did a book thread a while back but be fun to do another one since we have some newer members.
@MarBee1214 I'll join the my husband has outdated views club. When I told him about the rear facing until two guideline, he said no way that's not how it was when E was younger. Yeah well she's seven now things have changed. I have a friend whose child's life was saved in a horrible car accident because she was still rear facing. That was about 6 years ago and I've been a believer in that since.
My UO is I hate the word totes unless you are talking about a bag.
Yes. The slippery slope is when you say it as a joke and then at some point that line gets blurred and you're just saying it. This happened to me. ">
I am totes guilty of this.. It's a sickness.

I say in my head all the time "that's totes cray" in response to a thread, laugh to myself, and then never actually type it because I am anti-totes. And anti-cray.
I hate Lima beans. My uo is parents who give a boy a girls name or a girl a boys name borders on child abuse and they should be slapped. Also unisex names are wrong.

Is there an award for the UO that makes you scratch your head and say "wha...?"

I can't even get begin to get upset at that one because it's so stupid.

I think lima beans are sickening. I certainly hope no one disagrees with me.
I will look down at all of you lima bean lovers from my high horse when I return from changing baby boy's diaper...
We can no longer be friends.
#Limabeansforeverymeal
Flipping. Love. Lima beans. It's been real, peanut!
Although, I do think there are certain life threatening situations in which a person might be forced with the tough decision to dislike lima beans.
*Giggles*
AND BUTTER BEANS ARE NOT LIMA BEANS! (My cousin calls them both limas and I then I get there and get all sad when it is butter beans...yes I need help)
What I believe is my first UO post: I'm going to drop a bomb and say that abortion is sickening. I sure hope that doesn't really qualify as an UO here. Also, quite a bit more "heavy" than any condom debate...interested to know what you all think of it as well.
I think of it as a medical procedure.
...as I'm sure many people do. Have you researched what exactly happens? I would hope that would cause you to view it differently and for what it is.
I have no idea how people who have never experienced something have the biggest opinions about it. Why do you think telling us over and over how horrible it is will change people's minds about it? I have researched exactly what happens because I have gone through it. I am not going to say that it was easy on me especially when certain dates go by but my cone procedure for cancer cells was more invasive. I know it would've been much harder to carry a baby to term and then hand him over. I love my little guy more than anything in the world but I know I made the right decision at the time.
This made me laugh out loud and almost wake up LO! DH is a children's pastor and he has a soul patch. And I still love me some Steven Curtis Chapman. Oh memories
So this is what happens while I was stuck traveling solo with an infant and toddler across an ocean....
To the OP who brought up the abortion debate: I am willing to bet you've never been faced to make that decision before....Women have been fighting for their rights for hundreds of years. I damn well do not want anyone else making such a monumental life altering decision for me. Besides the way I look at it, I would never have had my DD and DS if I were to have made a different decision sixteen years ago...So yeah, eff off.

I think it's incredibly narrow minded to be pro life. There are so very many exceptions, situations, and good reasons to terminate a pregnancy that is not "I'm a dumb ho who got knocked up for the third time in three months." To insinuate that that situation may be the primary reason for abortions is wrong. It is crucial that my body belongs to me and I am the only person who can decide what I do with my body and what happens within it. It's not your right, it's not the church's right, and it's not the government's right to force me to gestate a child to term.
