No @hercules03 I do like those books though but I LOVE these..........
I need to get online and check because I think I am missing a few of the collection but I have like over 1/2 I know for sure. They are SUPER cute. I love them.
When I was in kindergarten we had an F5 come through, a mother panicked and was driving to our school to get her son, she ended up dying in the tornado. I always think of that every time I panick to drive home. It really is better to just stay where you are.
HO-LY SHIZ, people. How did I not know that this thread was still going on?! And here I have been thinking to myself, "people keep referencing @nkhead (in other threads), I wonder if she ever came back to that thread?" I am face-palming myself right now!
P.S. No more rhymes now, I mean it! Anybody want a peanut?
Here they will sound the sirens no matter where in the county the threat is. It could be an hour to the north but they will sound the sirens in our area. We always check to see where the storm is and if its in the area we seek shelter but if its not then we don't. I use to dimiss them too but then we had a huge outbreak and a lot of people died and now I take it seriously, doesn't mean I get in the closet but I do check to see where it is.
Man. Baby didn't wake up at 4:30... Wow. And then we had tornado warnings between 5:30 and 6:30!!! Arghhhhhhhh!!! Waking up all the kiddos to drag them to the basement. Damn you, Mother Nature. Calling for more bad weather this afternoon. Smack dab in the middle of afternoon nap time. Why me????? (
I've always been fascinated with people who live in placed where a tornado is a threat..... I'm terrified of them and I live in mountain Canada. ! How do you handle that stress????
I live where there are tornados pretty often during the summer months. They usually miss town thankfully. After awhile you learn what a tornado sky is. I watch from my porch while it storms crazy, I enjoy it. Now with LO I might actually use my basement for shelter.
Too bad you guys don't have super babies. They are tornado resistant. Then can even protect you and your property with their amazing super baby powers.
My guess is she is gone. Will show back up later as a new poster or has just moved on to Babycenter or something. Oh well her loss. I just can't believe this thread lol.
I went in for my 37 week check-up the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and the doctor was like, "yep, your blood pressure is high. We are going to do a c-section this week." I was just lucky that they let me have Thanksgiving at home - I love some Stove Top stuffing. I was in at 6 AM the Friday after, and my DH had Ted in his arms by 8:15 AM.
My water broke in bed at 12 am on Monday morning. I was freaking out! I was so scared... My heart was pounding... All I kept think was "HOLY SHIT WE'RE HAVING A BABY!" I was even afraid to wake up DH. Seriously WTF did I think was going to happen?!
I can definitely say my l&d was not how I expected. I don't think anyone is ever truly prepared to be induced early for a medical reason....
Ditto. My OB sent me to the hospital (for more testing) when they found protein in my urine, which to be honest we were kind of expecting since I'd had high BP for a while, but I still cried when the triage nurses said I needed to be admitted to be induced. And cried again (several times) once up in L&D when they were talking about options to start inducing me (especially when it came time for pitocin). I was so scared! I had prepared for birth, but had NO idea what to expect from the induction meds/processes.
I went in to be induced at 3:15am ... got in the L&D room by around 4. They gave me PG gel first, in hopes it would make me go on my own since I was already dilated to about a 2 ish. Didn't do much except thin me out a tad more.
Started on pitocin at 7am after walking around for an hour. Had my water broken at noon around 4 cms, and I was super to get the epi before that since contractions get much much stronger even though I wasn't in a lot of pain. I terrified of needles and the thought of nerve damage from the epi was enough to make me get it a bit on the early side, so I could better sit still.
The day nurse was super conservative with cranking up the pitocin, but when the night nurse took back over at 7pm, she cranked the pitocin and Alex began crowning at 8:00pm. When the nurse checked me she yelled "Oh Shit, you're crowning." And had my DH walk across the room to hit the page button on the remote for the hospital bed. She told the nurse's station to call my OB now.
Doctor arrived at 8:25 ish, and I did a few practice pushes while waiting. Alex was born at 8:48 pm.
I went to the doctor for my last appt before induction and was sent to L&D because my Bp was high. Anja was here 7 hours after the pitocin started. I slept through 5 of it. Woke up, popped her out in 6 minutes. Super baby!!!
I love you just a little less because of this @cashingn2
I had a 3rd degree tear. I felt nothing though.
I had a 3rd degree tear after pushing for less than an hour on an epi too. I felt nothing. After I delivered, I asked the doctor jokingly, "So did I tear?" The look on her face when she replied, "Oh, honey...." is forever scarred into my brain.
@yty0205, I asked too. It took them an hour to see me up. I never felt anything. Even days later.
Girl, days later?? Damn. What meds were you on? I started to feel it the next day and holy hell, did I feel it. That stupid tear is part of the reasons we're one and done. I'm too afraid of more torture of my lady bits.
Geez - did anyone push for 2.5 hours like me? I'm so jelly of the people who were like, "oh, I pushed twice and had a baby."
Also, got CRAZY thirsty within the last hour of pushing. Sucked down ice chips and water between each contraction. Anyone else have that?
19 hours of labor which includes 3 hours of pushing. I was doing my damnedest to get that kid out on her due date (NYE)! I also puked early that morning at home due to nonstop contractions. It was the first time I puked my entire pregnancy. I was so pissed!

I was in stage 2 for a couple hours but they wouldn't let me push because kiddo was turned the wrong way and was a bit stuck. Having expulsive contractions and not being able to push is now my definition of pure torture!
Also, yes, once I was pushing I needed a swig with every contraction, I was parched!!

2 pushes here too for this LO, but that's one fabulous thing about subsequent births -- everyone told me she'd pop right out and she did. Pushed for over an hour with DD1 and in labor for 20 total.
I went in at midnight and was dilated to 4. I was stuck dilated to 8 from 5am til 5pm. It was awful. My contractions were nonstop and I was trying to go natural but my body just wasn't doing anything. I finally decided to get an epidural at 4pm, they gave me pitocin right after, and then I finally dilated fully by 6. Pushed for 2 1/2 hours and LO was born at 830. Thank god for the epi because I also had 3rd degree tear and a vacuum extraction. I was one vacuum attempt away from a c section but we finally got his fat head out.
I will be asking for an epidural the second I walk in the door next time. No need to be a hero.
Glad we're sharing birth stories! I never posted mine. I was induced at 39 weeks due to contractions that sent me to l&d almost every other week. I had my water broken a 7 am, pitocin started at 7:15, pushed for about 15ish minutes. LO was born at 2:47 pm without any tearing. After such a difficult pregnancy I deserved a smooth delivery!
BTW, has anyone mentioned OPs posting history? She posted that she was leaking amniotic fluid in October, thought her water broke in November, but didn't give birth until December...

Oh, and my husband passed out while holding my leg up during the last push. Sheesh.
