  • I don't know if I'm just in a funk or a "mood" but I'm feeling really frustrated with pregnancy today. Hard to explain really. I remember with my last baby I was very content, even when uncomfortable, up until about 35 weeks or so. I wasn't anxious, time flew by, I just really embraced it. I feel so miserable today. The kind of miserable you get in those last few weeks. I'm so uncomfortable already and just tired of being pregnant. Imagining 16+ weeks left has really got me depressed today. I need to snap out of it and chill. I don't know what's up with me ladies. Just needed to say it because no one else can understand.
I'm right there with you.  This is my 2nd pregnancy and I cannot wait for it to be over with.  I'm not sure what my problem is, but I am the most unpleasant person I know right now (and I work with a lot of bitches).

Oh my gosh, I don't know where else to write about this. I have a newish coworker and he is making me crazy. He constantly talks down to me – I'm really not sure why I don't stand up for myself, I'm usually not such a pushover. Today I went in the bathroom and cried.

I'm planning to leave after the baby comes, so I keep trying to fly under the radar and just suck it up but I'm starting to get anxious that the stress is going to affect LO. I'm nervous I'm either going to say something really mean or just totally melt down and get pegged as the hormonal pregnant chick.
I'm sorry. Since you plan on leaving id give it right back to him. What are they going to do?

  • I just had a full night's sleep and it was heavenly.  I didn't wake up to pee once or anything.  The only thing I remember is waking up around 3 to roll onto my side (I think I heard DS on the monitor), but that was it.

Of course I'm sure it means I didn't drink nearly enough water yesterday and I'm super dehydrated since I didn't need to pee at all, but the sleep was great!

  • Ladies, meet Chevy!!!!

Chevy was rescued with his 5 sisters out of a slum house where the owners locked them in a bathroom since birth. Luckily, they were all rescued at 4 weeks old and now live in awesome and loving homes. Chevy gets loves from all of the Nurses and Patients and has a wiggle butt with a penchant for nibbling on ears.

This little guy hangs out at the Hospice program and I stole him for a snuggle and some puppy therapy ;-) isn't he PERFECT?! imageimage
I have always wanted a rottweiler! Our house insurance would drop us though :( soooo adorable!

  • @Sarahvol131 - glad to hear your kitty is okay! Our cat Evie was super quiet and sneaky. She got closed into closets all the time. The worst was when she got stuck in the entry hallway when I was leaving for work. I felt so bad because she must have been freezing all day!

  • Ok somebody please tell me I'm not the only one overwhelmed by the selection of infant/toddler toys. I realized this between buying a present for my friend's son's birthday and working on our registry. I walk down that aisle and all I see is an overload of bright colors and noise making options that all seem incredibly overpriced.

Is this one of those things, kind of like clothes, that I can just leave off the registry and other people will pick out what they think is cute if that's what they want to get anyhow?
Here are some of my recommendations.

Something with crinkle paper in it.

    A taggie blanket.

Some kind of cute stuffed animal with a rattle or one that sings.

That's about it for I would think at least the first 8-10 months. After that, when they start crawling, they just want whatever is on the floor. You could fill a water bottle with rice or beans and entertain them for HOURS.

Your cat and my daughter have the same name! I think I am going to try putting a bell on MJ again. She is pretty good and getting them off, but I am sufficiently freaked out by the dryer incident that I feel like it's time to try again!

  • @zarkarella  That's awesome!  I'd love to have an opportunity like that.  My job could definitely be done PT, I just don't think by boss really knows that yet, but I've been planting the seeds (plus, I'd really like to stick around because my father has been with the company for 30 years and whenever he retires I could inherit his shares which would be amazing).  Keep us posted on how it goes.  Fingers crossed they can make it work out for you!

How does one go about choosing a credit card? There are so many options! I am overwhelmed!

We like our Amex, we've never had a problem with the company and we get points with it that we can use on a lot of things, but we use them mainly on Amazon! We also have a Visa that is for emergencies.

  • @jessa8907 as someone who has had a TON of credit cards (turned 18 and said yes to all the offers) my favorite is the chase freedom. It's got 1% cash back plus bonus cash back on new categories every three months. However, if I had had better credit, I would have held out for an AMEX or discover card. Find something with low interest and good perks that are important to you, and never carry more than a 30% balance and you're good!

I just had to hide a FB friend from high school because since Monday she has been posting a birthday countdown. EVERY DAY. It is now at 9 days left.

This was part of today's post. "I am doing this not to constantly remind people of when exactly it is so that way no one forgets but because I have always loved my birthday and always will!"

To the bolded I'm calling bullshit.
    How old is she, 12?

Ugh, how annoying. My friend does that too except she'll constantly remind me on the phone by slyly bringing it up during a convo.
  • I like my Capital One Cash Rewards. I get 1.5% cash back on everything. There are some credit cards where you get 3% for groceries, 2% for gas and 1% for everything else or other schemes like that. Then there are some cards where you can get 1% back for everything but then 5% back in rotating, special categories every three months. It's all very overwhelming and confusing when things keep changing. So, I like the Capital One card because it gives me more than 1% cash back but there are no other categories. Much more straightforward. And they let me customize my card with a picture of my dog in a tin foil hat on it.....
Ah me too! So simple, the interest is insane but we always pay on time so it's worth it. DH filled out our cards... we just got silver, I didn't know there was a choice. I'm mad at him now.

Check with your bank. We have a rewards card through our bank. You can earn lots of different things, but we almost always redeem for gift cards (usually Amazon, though they have hundreds to choose from). We redeemed for $200 worth of Amazon cards right before Christmas last year and used the $ to buy all of our gifts for the kids! The other nice feature of the bank card is that it's listed right there with our other accounts on the online banking so we just transfer money to pay it off each month. We also have the Amazon card, with which you earn credits right on your Amazon account with/for Amazon purchases. Geez, I sound like I work for Amazon or something. ;)

It's so silly to me when people think their birthday is such a huge deal (especially the "it's my birthday week!!!111" people). Oh, you have a birthday? So does everyone else! You survived on earth another year? Congratulations! Let's all pay special attention to you!

I have no issues with celebrating birthdays, I just hate people who are all "omg it's my birthday!!!" And expect special treatment.

  • *sorry in advance for the shouty caps*

The new girl at work who couldn't get logged on to the work station a few days ago DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO COPY/CUT AND PASTE.

This is going to be a disaster on an epic scale. I can't even with this right now. I just spent twenty minutes of my day teaching her how to copy and paste. And my boss is complaining because I am behind right now. Eff it, I came in an hour early today just so I could get some work done without having to bring people up to date from the stone age.

Sorry, this is more of a MBF I know, but sweet jesus I needed to vent.

That's awful! We've got a woman like that in our office (receptionist, but she helps with some basic tasks). She's been here for maybe 20 years, though, and still uses a typewriter! At least she's got age behind her as an excuse, but if I remember correctly from another post, your new girl doesn't have that excuse. She's definitely sleeping with someone!

@zarkarella - that sounds awesome!  I am in a similar situation and a currently just working one day a week while DD stays with a friend and her 19 month old daughter.  I am not sure how things are going to change once this LO comes along, but I like to keep this going and eventually even add more hours once both kids are a little older.

    Edit - corrected name tag!

  • This was a few days ago, but @literachick - I am sorry that your DH didn't end up getting that job.

And just because I've been a bit off my bumping game since my in-laws were visiting, @jessa8907, did I miss an update on the house situation?

Lots of happy house news going around!

SO ANNOYING.  I have a friend who I had to ban from talking about her birthday because she'd start 6 months prior and mention it every day.  I told her she could talk about it the week of, and she actually listened.

I would pick one for something I want to use the rewards with. My friend has a Southwest card and gets at least one free plane ticket a year. There are some that have good cash rewards as well. The trick to getting good rewards is to buy things on it frequently, but never carry a balance. My friend with the Southwest card pays everything except her mortgage on her card and then pays it off completely once a month. That's how they get the tickets but never pay interest.
This was going to be what I was going to say. My husband got both of our plane tickets and both nights in Seattle before our Honeymoon for free from credit card bonuses!

I like Chase Freedom because every quarter they have 3 things that get you 5 percent cash back. So one quarter it's gas, groceries and movie theaters and the next it's something else.

  • @shanicenicolle‌

I wasn't even mad and baby giraffe cheered me up. So cute it hurts!

    @knittylady‌

Hugs for you! Sorry you're going through this :(
  • @shanicenicolle - Yes, the baby giraffe definitely helps! So cute!

Thanks @literachick and @jensavicci - I need to stop letting myself get so wound up.  He texted to say that he would send me something, but I honestly don't even want to read what he has to write.  It's all just too little too late.  Might be harsh, but it's the truth.

I feel like I've lived out this scene from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air too many times and I'm just done!

We're kind of there. Only debt right now is mortgage. Since getting to this point (DH literally just paid off a home equity line and my car), he's been spending a lot of time planning out our future savings plans. We finally figured out how to make a monthly budget work for us last summer which definitely helped us get to this point. My one small whine is that now I feel like it will be pulling teeth to get him to want to spend any of this saved money on anything (even when we talk about it in the abstract future...like a new fridge).
