UO

Anybody have anything new?

I think it's weird when married couples use condoms. I get that some women can't take the pill or use other methods, but not having to use condoms again is a big plus about marriage.

  • @peanutmuse that's what an uo opinion is. Use condoms if you have to, I'm just glad I don't

    Cop out.

Please answer my question. What would you suggest in my situation? I can't use hormonal birth control, and see above. I'd really like to know what you'd suggest.
  • I say use condom if you have to obviously. Abstinence would be far more strange to me.
  • Here's mine.. I don't like bacon or goat cheese. The whole world seems to be obsessed with these two foods!
  • @MarBee1214‌ what do you use the other times when it's not a quickie? I don't get the difference

Why is it weird? Is it not weird for unmarried couples? I am on hormonal birth control and we use condoms. I don't really see what is weird about condoms or why being married suddenly makes it weird.

I can't possibly imagine caring about others' birth control methods. If a woman doesn't want to get pregnant and can't use hormonal birth control -- what method would you suggest? Abstinence? Or do you think that she should just not worry about getting pregnant again? Would you suggest that to me, even knowing that I had a difficult pregnancy, difficult delivery, post partum recovery issues, and a potential genetic metabolic disorder for my son?

This falls into the category of none of your business and whyTF do you even care?!?

    In my opinion.

I agree with @peanutmuse - after years of struggling with fertility (and then a difficult pregnancy) condoms are our choice of BC +avoiding it during my ovulation window (when my cycle returns). I don't want to take any hormones. Add to that, when we finally did get to have sex, the first time, he pulled the condom off in the middle because he just hates them.  Two weeks later, I threw up my entire dinner without any warning or other symptoms. Took a test and it was negative, and now DH doesn't mind the condoms, that scared him enough. I want my body to heal then we will get rid of them and whatever happens, happens but no hormones for me but can't have #2 yet either!

@sugarland726‌ I guess I think its weird because I associate condoms more with std protection. Something less necessary (std protection) in a long term comitted relationship.

Eta: this coming from someone who has been on the pill for over a decade
  • @MarBee1214‌ what do you use the other times when it's not a quickie? I don't get the difference

She was referring to it being a cleaner method. Condoms don't require as much clean up after.

I had a feeling that this was the reason behind your UO, and that you really hadn't thought it through.

But again, I can't imagine something like another person's choice of birth control ever entering my mind that way.

  • Here's mine.. I don't like bacon or goat cheese. The whole world seems to be obsessed with these two foods!

I like crispy bacon for breakfast. Occasionally. But I don't like it any other way really. If a sandwich or salad comes with it, I will 86 it. Definitely not obsessed over here!

  • @peanutmuse if you could take hormonal bc over condoms, would you?

To clarity, I think its weird if condoms are your go to if other methods are an option.
  • @Gilmore09‌ thanks for the other perspective. That makes sense

    No problem!

My UO is that I believe vaccinations are, in a sense, a matter of national security and should be treated/regulated as such. This is coming from someone who is very anti government up in my health business.

Based on my research (and Facebook feed) too many people seem to be uneducated or are too impressionable by false data/celebrity spewing nonsense to make an appropriately informed decision. I do realize there are religious factors, and based on our constitutional right to religion, this would have to be factored in, but I don't feel like it's currently treated adequately for how big of a problem the population being unvaccinated could create.

I absolutely agree. We currently are seeing a measles issue here. The woman works at a bakery and went to a concert so they post a timeline of everywhere she went over the weekend. Including downtown Seattle, restaurants, and the Kings of Leon concert. I would be livid if I happened to go to any of the places she had been while contagious.

This is also floating around FB and it till never ceases to amaze me the people who still are anti-vaccine because someone somewhere said it causes autism.

  • FEMA and the National Guard are here for the mudslide and I'm extremely thankful as our locals desperately needed help. However, Our house is in the flight path for the military helicopters. I'm glad LO sleeps through them but they wake me btwn 6-8 every morning, when they could fly a couple hundred yards to the west (like the other air traffic) and avoid all the houses.

Sorry, but this isn't sitting well with me. There are people who have lost everything (including lives and loved ones) in the mudslide and you are complaining because they wake you up at 7am (when many people are up and out for work anyway) bringing help to people that need it? I just can't even.

I have property in Oso, I have been to the site and yes I know what people have lost and are going through. I have taken many supplies to help the volunteers and will continue to do so as needed.
  • I don't know how U this O is but I don't think Easter should be another Christmas. I think the biggest toy I ever got on Easter was a kite. Besides the celebration of the resurrection, in my house Easter was for chocolate, books, egg hunting, and in my mom's case a toothbrush. She's funny like that. For every holiday that she gave candy, she also gave a toothbrush. I wanted for not in the dental hygiene dept as a child.

Not looking forward to my News Feed on Easter morning. Oh and my apologies if this UO was already done last year...
I never understood as a child why people would ask me "what did you get for Easter?"

    Huh??
Right? Omg my husband's cousins (younger than him) were getting an iPad for Easter? Seriously...all I ever got for Easter was candy and maybe a stuffed animal or something...it isn't a present holiday like Christmas. I will say though, both of my girls' birthdays are in the fall/winter and I've thought about getting DD1 a cozy coupe car as an "Easter" present but more for just like a good time to get it for her, not because I feel like she needs an Easter present.

and that you also know all the words to "Jibberish" by  Reliant K
Yes and yes PLUS I MET RELIANT K! They opened for the Supertones one time when I saw them! They were hanging out selling their CD's after the concert and my friends and I talked to them for a while. I thumb wrestled the drummer. :) I also almost got in trouble for it because it was sort of like holding a boy's hand. Oh the days...

@MarBee1214 Yes! Focus on the Family was the go-to. Did you listen to Adventures in Odyssey as a kid?? I had a handful of them on cassette tape. I loved that radio show so much. :)

@kellydew We did "trunk or treat" a few times, too but without costumes. You went around and recited a Bible verse to a parent with an open trunk in exchange for candy. Then in high school, my youth group held something called "Smashing Pumpkins" every year. We would get a TON of pumpkins and smash them (obvi) and smear the guts down a ginormous tarp on the side of a hill, throw in lots of baby soap, wear cruddy clothes and slide down the hill all night! Everyone smelled like babies and pumpkin puree. :P

ETA: Sorry anyone who wanted a legit UO Thursday. Church kids ate it this week.

Um yes! Listened to them every night before bed when I shared a room with little sis. She admitted to me that she still listens to them sometimes when she can't sleep. She's 21 :) We had tons of them!
Oh man. That's a great idea. I think I might have one collection on CD, maybe I will do that next time I can't sleep. :)

I was just thinking, "Oh, are we now in a church spiral? Guess I can write off this post for checking back on later." ;)

  • Okay, since religious/not religious "reason for the season" Easter came up, I have to share. I have an aunt who CRUCIFIES THE EASTER BUNNY (seriously stuffs a bunny suit like a scarecrow and attaches it to a big wooden cross) in her front yard this time of year with a sign that says, "Is this the guy who died for your sins??" We don't spend much time with that branch of my family.
    OMG.

Although I'm sure she'd yell at me for saying that.

Maybe someone will jump in with a "Rear facing until 2 is ridic!" and you can go all CLASSIC SUGAR on them. Like the old days!

  • First of all I <3 the Supertones. Totes saw them in concert at Six Flags Darien Lake. I also remember getting their cd in the mail from the mail order cd thingy.
Second-my friends still refer to my moms van as "The Jesus Van" because we put a bumper sticker on the back that said I ❤️ Jesus.
Third- On Easter my grandma would hide peanuts all around the yard and that is what we "hunted" for- after church of course.
Fourth- I have more issues with people that should be using condoms and choose not to than people that choose to.

What?!? Did she watch Donnie Darko one too many times?! That's truly horrifying!
