Sometimes I email stuff to myself so I have it in a web-accessible place. Then I see on my tabs that I've gotten an email in my personal email account and I get so excited! Then I realize that I've just forgotten that a whole three seconds ago I emailed myself.
@salsera29 I feel like it would be totally legit to offer free preschool music classes! Maybe mention it in a not so obvious way like, " oh, once my son is enrolled here I'd LOVE to offer a few free music classes!"
@JP27 I think I'm having them less often, but they're still happening.
@tourqeyes I agree, the water advice is annoying. I'm still giving it a shot, but the fact that I'm still getting them makes me more worried that something could be up. They're not close together so I should be fine, but man, I'm looking forward to V-day.
That awkward moment when you've been summoned to a thread 4-5 times and you think you're cool because ppl want to talk to you but in reality your name has just been requoted multiple times

Ugh I hope they stop soon
What's V day? Vagina exploding day? I'm serious, I am blanking right now...
DH needs to stop being so opinionated about what to put in the nursery. We've at least narrowed it down to "things we like" (yeah, that's it) and we're basically using the poster he got at Tivoli in Copenhagen that has a creepy (to me) clown on it, but some fun colors, as a jumping off point.
Now try to find bedding to go with that. I've been searching Etsy for anything that doesn't scream "boy" or "girl" since we're team green and that might have the colors and fun we're looking for to put on pinterest and have DH look at. Last night I'm showing him some things I came across and he actually fell asleep on me! WTH!!! If you're going to make this so difficult for me and need to have an opinion on it, then either do some research yourself or DON'T FALL ASLEEP WHEN I'M SHOWING YOU OPTIONS.
For DS we have a travel theme and I came across the perfect fabric from someone on Etsy and she was able to create custom bedding, so it probably doesn't help that I'm comparing everything to that either.

When I was born, I was apparently severely oxygen deprived for a long length of time (don't know exactly how long, I'm adopted) but my adoptive parents were warned about it and told I might have brain damage as a result or possibly not. I turned out completely fine and I'm now a college professor, so there's every reason to think that all will turn out. I'll add some good thoughts and prayers to the mix though for good measure!

It is nice to hear that story, thanks for sharing that. I'll mention it to my brother when I talk to him, I know his girlfriend has been torn up about this all day as she is very close with her sisters family.
I just went in the bathroom at work, and accidentally said out loud (to myself) "mama needs you to move up!" as I walked into a stall. I meant to think that in my head. There were other people in there who I didn't recognize, who saw me walk in without a kid and I'm not obviously pregnant in the top I'm wearing today. Awkward!
Chevy was rescued with his 5 sisters out of a slum house where the owners locked them in a bathroom since birth. Luckily, they were all rescued at 4 weeks old and now live in awesome and loving homes. Chevy gets loves from all of the Nurses and Patients and has a wiggle butt with a penchant for nibbling on ears.
This little guy hangs out at the Hospice program and I stole him for a snuggle and some puppy therapy ;-) isn't he PERFECT?!
Because I feel like crap today (and all this week because of these allergies/sinus infection/plague/etc) I put on my cutest pregnancy dress today to gain sympathy and smiles from strangers. And TBH it's the only reason I went out for lunch today by myself aside to get a milkshake. It's definitely working and it's making me not be as bummed as I physically feel bad.
So last night right before I went to bed I moved a load of clothes out of the washer into the dryer. The dryer had about a half a load in it and since I was being Lazy Mclazyson I didn't fold them and threw the clothes in, turned it on and walked away to go pee and brush my teeth. While I was peeing I kept hearing this thump in the dryer and thought to myself oh, I better go make sure a shoe didn't get in there or it isn't over full. So as I am putting my glasses on I hear what sounds like a baby crying and my DH freaking out over the dryer.
I go out there and he's saying MJ MJ MJ and yanking clothes out left and right.
My cat was in the dryer. She's never ever been in the dryer that I've known and I didn't see her. She was fine, according to the timer it was only one minute but I feel HORRIBLE about it. I've been spoiling her with catnip and treats ever since!

Sarah, please don't take this the wrong way because I feel horrible for your cat, but I can't stop laughing. I think because I know that the cat didn't get hurt and was probably only in there a minute or two.

ETA: God, I'm such an asshole.
I've gone back and forth between laughter and feeling like I should call the ASPCA on myself.
Apparently some of the cast of the the Lion King in Australia surprised passengers on their flight with a song. This just made me cry at work! Here I am.. a lawyer who is turning 30 next week and crying in my office over a song from the Lion King.

That sweet looking puppy gives my little bean-toe kitty a run for her money on cuteness!! I wish I could snuggle a puppy!!! ^_^ instead, I get to cuddle my little fat-fuzzy-lazy. XD

I read this, I gasped so hard I choked, which started me coughing. The coughing set off my gag reflex and I threw up for the third time today. The poor kitty- and now poor me!

Omg I love that so much!! At first I thought, "why would that make her cry?" Then I watched it, and I'm laughing at myself as I sit here with tears rolling down my cheeks lol.
I AM SO EXCITED! I've been buying short-term disability insurance all these years because I'm paranoid, but I never realized until today that pregnancy is considered a disability! I knew it was under the FMLA, but I didn't realize it also was under my short-term disability policy.
I feel kind of dumb for not realizing this as I am the HR person for my department. I called central HR and they were like, "Why don't you talk to your department HR person?" And I was like, "I would, except my co-workers think I'm crazy enough without hearing me talk to myself."
Anyway, due to all my time lingering on The Bump and reading various maternity leave policy, that light bulb finally clicked and I was like, "holy crap Batman! I bet I'm at least partially covered!" And after a few phone calls, it looks like I will be covered for 60% for at least two weeks of my leave, maybe four weeks. I thought I was going to have to take that time completely unpaid, so I feel like I just won some free money or something.
So yeah for spending too much time on The Bump! It taught me something and made me rich (sort of).
STD is the best. I know for me it covers however long your doctor puts on the form you need for recovery (usually 6-8 weeks depending on the type of delivery you have). Hopefully you'll get more time covered!
Gotta AW my DH - he just felt our little girl move for the first time!! She hasn't been super active today, but when she does move, she's making these huge movements she hasn't made before. He just beamed and his face lit up and said he couldn't believe it. Stuff just got real here! Love it!!

Hahaha @Salsera29, I had the same reaction when one of my friends posted it on FB and she said it made her cry! And then by the end... tears running down my cheeks. Eesh!

This made me giggle, because I am an adult.
Real question - will Short Term Disability cover you if you have to go out before baby is born?
For my company no matter when you go on leave the first week is covered using your PTO/Sick time until the paperwork goes through then they switch to using STD

Have either of you seen the play? I swear I'm not a "crier" normally, but I cried during the play too and I was not even close to pregnant. And not even bc (spoiler alert ;-)) Mufasa dies. There is just something so moving about the singing that I can't put my finger on (and at the play I was also for some reason really moved by the singing in combination with the colorfulness/creativity of the costumes/stage design). It was kind of embarrassing!
Ok somebody please tell me I'm not the only one overwhelmed by the selection of infant/toddler toys. I realized this between buying a present for my friend's son's birthday and working on our registry. I walk down that aisle and all I see is an overload of bright colors and noise making options that all seem incredibly overpriced.
Is this one of those things, kind of like clothes, that I can just leave off the registry and other people will pick out what they think is cute if that's what they want to get anyhow?
Definitely. I think I only registered for a toy if I really wanted it. Definitely not something you need to have on there.
I don't know if I'm just in a funk or a "mood" but I'm feeling really frustrated with pregnancy today. Hard to explain really. I remember with my last baby I was very content, even when uncomfortable, up until about 35 weeks or so. I wasn't anxious, time flew by, I just really embraced it. I feel so miserable today. The kind of miserable you get in those last few weeks. I'm so uncomfortable already and just tired of being pregnant. Imagining 16+ weeks left has really got me depressed today. I need to snap out of it and chill. I don't know what's up with me ladies. Just needed to say it because no one else can understand.
