Guys. We're going to have BAAABIEEESSS. Isn't that crazy?

(I think I'm just beginning to realize.)

The other day, I was talking to DH about how, even though I've been incredibly lucky to have an easy pregnancy, I'm already over it and just want my body back.  And then it hit me that....when I get my body back, that means I'll have made a baby.  Like how crazy is it that a whole other separate person is growing inside me right now.  It's very 'Alien' to think about.  LOL.

I kind of feel like I'm getting the best of both worlds. I really love my job and working is crucial to my sanity. I don't do really well at home for long periods. Thus, I get 12 weeks off with pay to be with the baby and enjoy summer + my husband will be off for most of the time with me. So we get to tag team new parenthood, visit family, grill out, etc. But then, I get to go back to work and not be trapped with the baby.

I do feel like I couldn't have planned this baby any better... I am SO excited to be off during the summer and to be able to enjoy some summer living with the baby here.  I'm really looking forward to it.

I feel the exact same way. I just started working as a counselor at an elementary school this past January, so I will get the summer off but I get to go back to work in the fall. Plus I will have breaks around the holidays and random days off throughout the year. So I won't be at home all the time but I also won't be working completely full time :)

DH is out of town (well, out of the country), so I have to go to our childbirth class alone tonight. Dreading it.
ugh I hear you. DH is missing our first class next week for work. I don't want to go alone :(

  • I was mean and told the pregnant lady in my office (who's due a week later than me) about the group B strep test.  I don't think she believes me that every OB does it.  She kept saying she was gonna ask if hers planned on doing it.  I kept saying "there's no escape" , inside I was giggling like a 5 year old. Ha
It's just a swab to the vagina and the rectum right? I wasn't thinking that sounded too bad....am I missing something more sinister?

@eltrain5 - that came out really nice!  Maybe I will do the same.  Right now, the banisters and railings are both white.  Maybe it would pull it together if the railing was grey as well.  Thanks!

  • Along the lines of being jealous of those of us who are going to SAH, and those needing the sanity of work...I will say that having wanted to SAH all my life, and knowing that after we had C I needed to work for financial reasons...by the time she was 10 weeks old I was all but begging to go back to work! She was a blob.  A lovely, cute, happy little blob, but a blob.  Even trips out every day wasn't the same as talking to adults all the time.  Now that she's 2 and way more interactive and fun, I can't wait to stay at home with her.  I'll deal with blob number 2 because I'll be involved with tiny human number 1.  Also, those going back to work, as a warning, I found day 2 back much harder than day 1 because I realized how much I had actually missed her the day before.

Hand, foot and mouth disease is no fucking joke, and it needs to back up off my daughter so the poor thing can eat!  She's on day 2 of just about no solids, but is finally feeling better enough to want to eat.  However, EVERYthing that she eats, makes her mouth sores hurt, so she takes one bite and then starts to cry.  Saddest. Toddler. Ever.

I don't like the lady I'm training to be my replacement, and she's so busy knocking how our company does things that she's not learning how/why we do them that way.  It's super frustrating.  Yes, I've told my boss.  We'll see.

And, though I mentioned this in the cloth diaper thread, my cloth diaper registry is complete!  I don't expect anyone to get us anything, but I can't wait to start getting gifts from it and to be able to use it and stuff.

    CSC arrived 5/7/12

    CHC arrived 6/2/14

  • My friend's mom is going to take care of my kid when I go back to work. I am so relieved that we have a definite sitter that is going to take amazing care of him.

MIL bought us our travel system, not at all what I wanted but whatever it will work for now. She was going to have it shipped to us but now is going to bring it when she comes over. I have no idea wen she is going to be here. I am freaking out because I want to have the car seat in my car in 2-3 weeks.

  • @emilyh107 - I am in a slow period with the movements, too. Last week he didn't stop moving. This week, it's just not as often (but like you said, not in "worried and calling the doctor" territory, either). I don't really love the down times, either. It's hard not to worry about it.

    Definitely!

  • @nutmegs8‌ I was wondering if anyone else noticed!!

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • This probably goes in the symptom thread but Wednesday's isn't up yet.

Both my armpits are sore. Almost like there's a lump in them even though there's not. Has this happened to anyone else? Swollen lymph nodes? Maybe I need to take it easy for a couple of days? I've been overdoing it a bit.

I'll probably call my OB but they won't be open for hours.

I had that once. Can also pull muscles in them. Did you do anything physical? Mine cleared up on it's own.

  • @wtfisup‌ - I did yoga Monday but I've been doing it throughout. Weird part is it's in both armpits.
  • I'm pretty sure I felt a foot kick me last night from the outside. Weird and cool at the same time :)

    Is it June yet?

I feel you. My shower is done. We've bought all the things. Be two months from now.

  • We watched then labor & delivery videos at class last night. Yep, even after having 2 kids (mind you, the last was 14 years ago), I am somewhat terrified of labor now. I never had a "normal" labor that didn't involve pitocin (sp?) and each one was less than 9 hours total. So the thought /idea of 12+ hours just freaks me out. Not to mention my PgAL brain keeps telling me something could still happen. Then LO moves and I realize, it's past that period, there is a baby coming - it is real. And I freak out a little more.
Where is a donut to calm me down when I need one?

  • My boss just got mad at me (over email, CC'ed our hr dept) for doing somethin he explicitly told me to do. I'm fucking furious. And now I want to move my last day from June 5 to May 8. I don't know what I would do at home for 6 weeks but I have zero desire to put up with his bullshit any longer than I have to.

  • So I have a hair appointment question....I have an appointment today at 30 weeks and I normally go every 6 weeks, which would put my next appointment at 36 weeks.  However, 6 weeks after that would put me only 2 weeks PP (assuming baby shows up relatively close to EDD) and I don't know if I want to sit through an appointment that soon.

So my question is should I extend my next appointment to 7-8 weeks and go at 37/38 weeks to extend my PP appointment a little later?  My only concern with doing that is what if I go into labor early?  So...WWYD?

@wtfisup I'm dying over the digital learning in utero! LOL!  Also the thought of showing up and just lying there like a starfish -- hilarious!

Okay I know there have been a ton of these on FB, usually awkward pet photos or awkward maternity or Christmas photos, etc.  This is the same thing but there are some new ones that I just couldn't stop laughing at and being totally grossed out by!  I feel like some of these pictures could each have their own thread!  If you like that sort of thing, here's the link: https://newslinq.com/29-family-photos-will-surely-make-say-wtf/

    and here's a taste of what's in there.... WTFFFFFFFFFF:image

    W.T.F!! That's just... I mean... Nope, I can't. Speechless.

Edit: and #6, the creep factor of bits & pieces smashed on you... Blech

I'm not sure what this hair appointment thing is that you speak of....??? Ha.Ha.

But for reals... I guess I don't see the difference in just a couple weeks for a hair appointment (coming from the girl who has gone 6 months without). Do you not want to sit an an appointment 2 weeks PP because you don't want to be away from your LO or is there something else I'm not understanding?

Mostly, since I'll be trying to EBF and everything will be so new I just don't know what to expect.  I'll probably just stick to my normal timeline since my stylist is great and will reschedule me no problem if I'm not comfortable going out then.  Plus, since I won't be working, that leaves my availability open for any time of the day.  Just another one of those things that I'm overthinking....
  • OK so dumb question...how can they tell what position the baby is in without an u/s?  Should I be able to feel certain things?  I still feel like I get kicked/punched whatever in random spots.

  • I hired our newborn photographer last night!  I am so excited!  She seems like she will be so fun to work with.  Now I am even more impatient for my LO to arrive!

On another note... Even though we are from Nebraska, we are total beach people.  We love tropical vacations, warm weather, etc. So for one of our baby picture setups, we will be doing a beachy, summer, pool shot.  Our photographer had some great ideas, but I am having a near impossible time trying to find a newborn swimsuit.  There are a few at Babies R Us, but if anyone has any other suggestions let me know!  I will attach some pictures that give more of an idea as to what we are going for.
