Let's Talk Sex

Re: Let's Talk Sex

  • The biggest obstacle to him getting it in is asking me when I have enough energy. I feel like he always asks when I JUST fell asleep. And sex wakes me up, so I am usually not okay with doing it then. He has more luck with a 2AM wakeup, or morning or night sex. I do try to say "Yes" whenever it comes up, as I know he is feeling a little neglected (went from everyday to may 2x/week). However, the only position that is comfortable is missionary. Or doggy style over the back of the couch. I really am not into being on top, it feels weird (which in an of itself make him sad, as that is his favorite position). I still do it once in a while, but try to coerce him into missionary most of the time. I also feel bad because I know I won't be able to for a few weeks after birth, and I really wanted to ramp it up around now because I know our sex life will never be the same. I am just not feeling it.

  • Missionary still works for us, but it seems like the only time I have enough energy is at 3am or first thing in the morning on weekends when I don't have to immediately rush to get ready for work. It's kind of funny to me because if he'd ever tried in the middle of the night pre-pregnancy I'd smack him and tell him to leave me the eff alone so I can sleep, and now I'm the one initiating it in the wee hours. ;)

  • Ughhh, I read all of your poor DH's and I'm over here like POOR ME! Pre-pregnancy DH always wanted sex.. Always! But ever since I hit the 2nd tri it's been total reverse. I WANT SEX SO BADLY! And he loves withholding it from me to get me back from the times I've denied him... Gah, I miss it! Hahah
  • I wish I had tips but I can count on one hand the times we've had sex since I conceived. Dh is so afraid of doing something to hurt me or the baby even though I've explained 500 ways why it's totally fine.

Doggie works good for us. Also having me lie on the edge of the bed and DH standing in front of me.
I've been thinking of trying that w/ hubby. It should still work even though I'm 5'2" and he's 6'4", right? I should also mention his knees are damn near broken (ok, not literally, but they are pretty bad). Also wondering, has anyone found a decent lube for pregnancy sex? I've found I've gotten even tighter since becoming pregnant, much to my dismay, and need to buy more anyway.

Edit - I've always been a larger woman, so being on top doesn't give me (at least as much of) a complex on "How do I look?" any more. Doesn't hurt that DH is a bit of a boob guy! lol It's just been feeling weird having the baby start moving during sex. I don't think it weirds him out (at least too much), and I'm ok with it, it just feels really strange. Doggy style has always been kinda difficult/slightly painful for me, my uterus is tilted, so if hubby isn't careful, he just kinda starts wacking into my cervix, and all I can think of is "Ow, ow, ow, ow!"

  • I feel like a bad wife but I stopped having sex w DH a while back. We were both scared we would mess something up lol and these days I can barely function much less think about sex! We may try it around 38 weeks to help get labour going lol
  • MarciP83 I have totally had that happen before. It's magical.
  • Ugh, I've had zero sex drive this pregnancy. I can count the number of times we've DTD since we found out I was pregnant on one hand and not even use up all the fingers... Poor DH.

I'm jealous of all of you with raging sex drives.

    Lol same here!!!

On that subject... I've warned DH that at some point and time, I am going to be terrified that sex will cause early labor and we will have to stop until closer to my due date. Is that a legitimate worry?
  • @shellbell813- that is definitely a legitimate worry! And I'm convinced this is why I'm hesitant to have sex. Also DH and I run on opposite schedules - I'm usually passed out by 830 and he's up 'til 1230 doing paperwork. Mornings I'm up at 545 and he's awake about 2 hours later... Sadness :-S
  • Since getting pregnant we hardly do it. Spooning position works the best. My H has a hard time not picturing the baby and its kind of a turn off. Sucks to be non-sexual right now. Like I've lost all sex appeal.

Put a pillow or two under your butt/back to lift you a little higher if needed. Also DH usually holds up my legs and kind of lifts me too. And we just use plain old KY. Works for us.

Well I clearly win this one...been on pelvic rest since week 8...and (**TMI ALERT**) last night I had an orgasm IN MY SLEEP.  WHAAAA?!?  Didn't even have to DTD!  #winning
No but in all seriousness...pelvis rest sucks.  I am not normally a sexaholic even when not pregnant, but I definitely miss that time to connect intimately with DH.  I know there are "other ways", and we've been doing most of those, but it's just not quite the same.  Looking forward to a semi-normal sex life after delivery...okay, waaaaay after delivery :) Ya'll keep gettin' it on, though!  Enjoy!!

So jealous!! I have sex dreams a lot but have never actually had an orgasm from one!

I thought it was just me! I actually had a few orgasms in my sleep during the first trimester. (I was terribly sick all the time but also hornier than ever so it was frustrating. I think my brain and body rewarded me with the dreams!)

I am dying laughing at "wacking into my cervix"!
