One time one of my SO's coworkers was brag plaining to me about all the shit her kid could do that mine couldn't, even though all social cues told her that she should probably back the fuck off.
I told her to can it. Granted at the time is was sitting behind a computer and I ducked as I said it.
@meimsx - I don't let my baby within a mile's radius of diet coke for fear the aspartame will stunt his already obviously slow language development.
Hmmm, I'm pretty sure it only causes cancer if you drink it while eating bacon. I must research further since I'm not at all busy as a working mom of two. I really need to fill up all this free time I have.
I just bumped, waited on hold with our workmen's comp insurance company, fed my baby a bottle and listened to him jabber between sucks...all at the same time. We aren't busy at all over here.

It's weird, without fail, every time we have these kinds of posts the follow up lecture post is ALWAYS THE SAME. "You guys are immature Internet bitches and I'm the busiest person ever so I only have time for the occasional AW post, geez".

Also - Luke's first word was "gastroschisis," followed closely by "bilirubin."
He has recently added "poop" to his vocab list. He is one of those advanced babies who understand that one thing can have many names, however, because from time to time he also calls it "stinky-stink" and "shit."
This might seem like a stupid question, but is Luke's bilirubin a problem? This is my DD's main issue that we can't resolve - elevated conjugated bilirubin. Just curious to know if you have experience with it.
@hindihl His bilirubin is not a problem, but we have kept a close eye on it all along because TPN and lipids can be very hard on the liver. A lot of gastro/short gut kids have issues with it. We have been lucky so far.

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
