On the way to work this morning, this woman with two children in her SUV was riding my ass through a school zone. I was driving the speed limit, 15 mph, and have no patience for people who speed in school zones. So I may have slowed down a little, but I was still going between 10-15 mph. She kept getting closer and closer to me like she was trying to push me out of the way. Just as we were leaving the school zone, she got pulled over!

I hope she got a ticket!

That ought to tech her to slow her roll! People like that make me mad!

I'm totally with you! Though do make myself ignore the "thank you list" section of the Amazon registry so I don't know who bought what.

  • @aandj28- Kittery!  The Lulu outlet just opened in September.  Some stuff was still close to full-price but I did get great deals on some shorts, a tank top and a light pullover microfleece! Worth it if you and your H want to take a ride up there sometime :)

Confession: getting my hair done today. Dyed, cut, the works. It's been two years and I can't wait. Since my sinuses are all whacky, I will smell nothing. My hairstylist and my OB says it's perfectly safe. I'm toying with doing something fun. Either deep dark red/burgundy streaks, or blue or purple. Nothing too flashy but peekaboo type color.
Hooray! I love peek-a-boo color. I often put a purple "halo" of color in - it's a narrow band and pretty much runs around your head near the top of your ears and just peeks out on occasion. Have fun and enjoy!

Confession: I had DH help me dye my hair last night. From a box. Without consulting my OB. I'm not a fan of salons, but my grays were driving me crazy and everything I've read says there's no problem with dying ones hair outside of the first trimester, so I went with it.

    Enjoy your hair pampering!

For those that have done/are doing a will...did you go through a lawyer, or find some standard forms online or something?  It's something I want to try to get done and I don't even know how to start.

ETA:  Ignore this...just saw the new thread ;-p

My stomach gets hairy while I'm pregnant. It happened with Nola and it's happening now. It's a little embarrassing when I have to lift up my shirt for fundal height and heartbeat checks at the doctor. I refuse to do anything about it because I know it will all fall out after he is born.

I'm a FTM and nobody told me the amount of hair that can show up in places that haven't been hairy before.  My stomach had fine little blonde hairs on it before and now they're BLACK.  DH pointed it out last night when I was putting lotion on my stomach.  He goes "WTF why is your belly so hairy!"  :-w

My FFFC is pretty boring but I don't have the desire to do anything today.  Maybe if it was warm and sunny out instead of warm and rainy I'd feel differently.  That and I'm irrationally annoyed with what order DH is paying the bills in for some reason.  Everything is paid and on time so I shouldn't care.  But he was talking about paying the electric bill before the gas bill and I kind of got snappy about it.  Get it together brain it's not a big deal

  • @abastian00‌ I didn't think about the breastfeeding period. So it'll be awhile for me too then.
  • @abastian00‌ I'm curious as to why they won't do it if you're breastfeeding? did they say? I understand why they won't when you are pregnant.. is it for the same reasons?

I think I'm all tatted out though as much as I love them. DH HATES them and he hates that I have so many. oops.
  • The hair on my legs is disgustingly long. Like man-hair. And until I get a new razor blade, nothing will be done about it. Good news is that it's actually quite soft so I don't think DH really cares.
  • pcourtade - do it! I was thisclose to getting my 2nd just when I got pregnant. I was feeling "funny" the week of my consultation with an artist I love in NYC and asked her what their policy was on tatooing pregnant women. I tested positive two days later :) They won't do pregnant or breastfeeding, so I have to wait forreeevvvverrrr....

    @loherrim - pictures PLEASE!

My confession: I'm having an increasingly hard time wiping my butt as my bump gets bigger and my body changes. I feel like a two-year-old :(
OMG, this is me too but I was too damn embarrassed to ask if anyone else was having that problem.  Cottonelle wipes are my friend.

  • stephross88pcourtade their concern is possibility of infection and it getting passed along through the breastmilk and/or debilitating a mother during an important part of her child's infancy. I'm not sure if the former can actually happen, but I'm willing to wait to have my next piece done!

  • My husband is such a packrat, from a long line of packrats, and he hates to get rid of anything. When we moved three years ago I insisted we did a massive purge but some stuff I just gave up on and stuck in the closet of the room that would one day be the nursery....so now it needs to be dealt with. One such item is this giant blanket with a wolf on it that for some reason he loves. And I hate it. I kept trying to talk him into donating it (because its been in a closet for nearly 6 years....clearly not being used) but he won't. He wants me to move it to the linen closet.

I called him today and told him it needs to be washed before going in the linen closet (it smells super musty). He said he *thinks* it can go in the washer and dryer. I'm pretty sure it needs to be dry cleaned but I put it in the washer anyways. I'm hoping it will come out looking weird or shrunk and we have to get rid of it.
I feel your pain. My husband is the same way and I just recently got him to go through his trunk of crap and he threw most of it away. Never mind the fact that we moved it three times first. Then about a week ago his mom brings over a ton of crap from his real dad (he's adopted) and it's like thanks cause it's not like our house is already full with a baby on the way. It doesn't help that my ILs are hoarders too.
  • @abastian00‌ - I will join you. I have short arms and wiping has almost turned into a new form of yoga in order to reach everything! I'm SO glad I am not alone in this. Especially since The Hubs just side eyed & laughed at me when I mentioned it.

  • puttyeast - one of my natural birthing books discusses nipple suckling as a very helpful tool too! I try to play it cool, but that was too much for me. It described a story where a woman's labor had stalled and her husband and friend both graciously offered to suckle to help get her re-started (and did so, simultaneously)! Different strokes for different folks :)

The thought of buying a house and being tied to a 30 year mortgage scares the shit out of me and DH. We really want to own our own land/house but the actual process and permanence is terrifying! The pit of my stomach fills with dread when I think about it.

This is why we will be paying ours off early.  Look into buying a house that is less than what you qualify for and then pay extra each month.  There's no way I would want to still be paying on ours in 29 years - We're hoping for 5-7 years pay off.
This! If you buy within your means, there's no need for a 30 year term and it won't feel like a burden. When we bought our house, we set our budget at something we would be comfortable with if one of our lost our job, so paying our mortgage has never been a strain, and we've been building equity which puts us in a really solid position, financially. Of course, depending on the housing market in your area, it's easier said than done to buy within your means...

If you really want to do it, start by talking to a financial advisor (if you haven't already) and find out how much the bank would approve you for. You might discover that it's a lot more doable and less scary than it seems right now.

No matter how many times my eye doctor has told me to stop, I still sleep in my contacts just about every night. Call it laziness, I guess.
@emilyh107 - stop sleeping in your contacts!  I got ulcers in my corneas from sleeping with them in and it was the worst pain EVER.  It felt like someone was stabbing my eyeballs.  I had to get medicated eye drops and then couldn't wear my contacts for 8 weeks.  Take them out at night!
Or invest in Lasik and then you wont have to even wear contacts.  H got his done 4 years ago and he said its the best money he's ever spent.
  • Did you guys know someone started a thread about wills?  My FFFC is you all are boring my ass! Haha just kidding! .... or am I...?   ;)

    image

Okay I actually have a real FFFC.  I was way more promiscuous than my husband before we were married, and yet I still punch him in the arm when he talks about his old "wild partying" days.  I was so embarassed when filling out the paperwork at my new OB's office, because it asked how many sexual partners I've had.  My husband was sitting right next to me, watching me fill in all the questions about prior surgeries, etc.  I didn't see that question coming! He has a very reasonable, very 'countable' number.  I, on the other hand... don't remember, EXACTLY.  So, I had to write an approximate number on the intake form.

ETA in my defense, we weren't together until we were 31.  That's a lot of years as a single woman.  I can't help it if he had no game. ;)

SAME. My bf is younger but only had a couple of partners, two of them were one time occurrences. I was almost 30 when we started dating and had 3 years of "bar-rando person-home-rinse-repeat" under my belt. He's never asked how many people I've hooked up with, only how many people I dated, so I know he doesn't want to know either. But I still get a slight twinge of jealousy if he mentions one of the 4 women he dated.

  • My bf's sister is coming to stay with us (we rent from his mom, she's moving when the baby comes and is leasing her house to us, but for the meantime we rent the basement from her and she lives in the upstairs) for a month because she has a 1 month old baby and her husband is military and stationed across the country for this month. My nursery is in the process of getting set up, but because of space issues in transporting her, the baby and their two dogs, she'll be using a lot of my furniture/blankets for her daughter while she's with us.

I totally offered her my nursery things, many of which are graciously accepted hand-me-downs but a few things like my pack n play playard were just gifted to me by my mom and a tiny part of me is sad that all these nursery items will be used by her first before my son gets here. Maybe it's seeing them used and not by my baby? I feel totally silly and shitty for saying it or even feeling it, and am pretty sure it's just hormones talking because I'm happy to share these things with a baby that needs them, plus most of the items I have are hand-me-downs so they're not even new!

Expressed it to my bf last night and he said "think of it as he's renting out his pad for a month before he's done cooking." Made me feel better.

  • I hate malls. And shopping. Especially while pregnant.

Shopping while pregnant is the worst.  I can't buy anything fun/nice, what's the point?

Another FFFC - It annoys me when people say "whilst" instead of "while".  You don't sound any smarter (I'm talking to you, grad school friend who I only keep in touch with on facebook).

  • The whole Random-Friend-Nipple-Sucking thing reminds me of a birth story from Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth when one lady lays down naked next to the birthing mother for some reason (sharing energy or something??). Yeah, no thank you.
