I've had the Chocolate Peanut Butter. They last about 2 minutes a box in our house so we stopped buying them. Because YUMMMMMMMMM. I've been wanting to try the Lemon, let me know if they are delicious.

Ok so this is the second time I've gotten a huge bag of free goodies from my OB! But all of it is Infamil brand and I was looking at one of the containers and it said "newborn formula for nursing mothers"

Am I a total FTM, is this just for supplementing? Like in case you don't produce enough milk or something?
I am a FTM as well, but my BFF suggested that I have a small amount of formula on hand at home in case of an emergency.  I plan on EBF, too, but I see her point.  If I ever need it, it will be nice to have it on hand rather than have to run to the store in an emergency to grab food for the baby.  I think I will have a small can for this purpose, and just hope I don't need to use it.

  • Is it really a bad case of, "pulling the pregnancy card," if I ask my supervisor if I can wear sneakers around the office? My dress shoes (flats and heels alike) are making my back pain so much worse.

Ugh. Im lucky we can wear sneakers and i dont have to worry about it. I think sketchers makes some sneakers that kinda look dressy and have more support though. Depends on the job

Look at Merrels. (Sp?) They have shoes that feel like sneakers but could pass for dress shoes. I wore them with scrubs when I worked at a hospital. (not a nurse, insurance)

That makes sense! So far though I have about 8 small bottles of "gentlease" and something else and about 5 cans of Infamil that were given to me. They also gave me a really cool bottle bag and a few breastfeeding things

It probably formulated to be closest to breastmilk or something. Enfamil makes a newborn formula for age 0-3months then it's just normal infant formula. So if you needed to or wanted to supplement you've got it on hand.

And yes, formula is used in situations such as the mother does not want to nurse, the baby is unable to latch, the baby has allergies or the mother does not produce any or enough milk.

  • Also I feel the need to confess.

On our trip last weekend we stayed at a really nice hotel. I wound up using the hotel's travel size shampoo, conditioner and lotion all weekend and taking the rest home with me :( If you remember those Herbel Essence commercials where the woman is all throwing her hair around while standing in a meadow or whatever... that's what I felt like when I was washing my hair with these things so I wanted to keep feeling that way when I got home. Seriously, my hair is all bouncy and smells like heaven.

But I feel guilty for taking them because it seems to be a grey area. A lot of people I know take the hotel shampoos and say that's what it's there for (for you to use) and a lot of people I know say you aren't supposed to. I felt like since I used them all weekend, wouldn't they need to replace them anyway?

So I looked up how much a real sized bottle is so I could buy it and it's 18 dollars a bottle. I am now deciding if I think the feeling I got was worth 36 dollars for the shampoo and conditioner or if I should get over myself.

Thanks Sarah, I just meant the specific phrasing "newborn formula for nursing mothers" because it sounded contradictory to me but I guess if you use it to supplement  if you don't have enough milk or in a jam I understand why they would make it with that advertisement. It was a little confusing to me at first "formula.... for nursing?" haha

You pay a lot to stay in a hotel and I thought those were part of the perks, free soap, shampoo and conditioner.  I wouldn't take the towels, they obviously need to be returned after using, but I always take the toiletries as complimentary.  Often, I have stayed at places where they leave you more regardless if you used them up in a day.

I have never discussed this with anyone who has said it was a grey area, that it was a no no to take the toiletries.  Interesting, I am anxious to hear if I've been wrongly indulging...

  • Helpful tip on the morality of taking Hotel room toiletries - you are almost always paying a resort fee or tax or some kind.

They are there for you to use! I stashed up an entire year of toiletries from my travels last year and made beauty bags with them for the local women's shelter, supplemented with travel products from Target (lotions, loofahs, nail polishes). My MIL and Mom do the same thing. Just an idea!
Ditto this!  You pay for this as part of your room fee - I think the little bottles are definitely yours for the taking.  The large, full-size bottles that some hotels have are a different story, but these typically have signs asking guests to not take these.

Like Litera said, most women's shelters will accept donations of these toiletries.  Even if you use a specific brand of shampoo/conditioner (which I do), a lot of people I know take these anyway and donate them to the shelters.

  • haha thanks guys, it was mainly my husband judging me! I usually don't take them unless it's a situation like this, where I actually use the bottle. Plus it was so fantastic smelling that I had zero willpower to resist.

They were only trial size. It was Peter Thomas Roth brand Mega Rich or something.

  • And just to add to my super grumpy post earlier: Thank you super helpful oboe player I sit next to in wind symphony rehearsal. Yes, I am fully aware the flutes have four whole notes tied together in that passage and that means I'm not supposed to take a breath in the middle of it, however my child and I currently are having a difference of opinion on what my lung capacity should be. Since there are 3 other people playing the exact same part I'm pretty sure no one else is going to know if the pregnant girl needed more oxygen besides you. And you sir can suck it.

Ew. I really hated those pompous musicians in college. Has she never heard of staggered breathing?

  • Ugh DH comes home sick gesturing only because he didn't want to talk due to a sore throat.

So I make him green tea with honey and tomato soup with grilled cheese. He takes a bite and whines clear as day and louder than his normal talking voice my soup is cold. No problem I grab it and pop it in the microwave. He says oh I'm not good enough for soup on the stove.

Basically it got real from there. I told him to enjoy his food and the couch tonight.

Now I'm curled up in bed with the saltines and mints on my night stand as dinner because I refuse to leave my bedroom.

Hoping tb is entertaining tonight. Also thinking there should be some abbreviation of husband besides DH for moments like this, AHH (ass hole husband)?

  • Salted caramel fiber one brownies?? I must try this! My go to was always the chocolate chip. But i havent had them in a while - the little weight watchers brownies are a fabulous snack. We found a box of mint ones at BJs yesterday and DH came home from work raving about them. Delish.

My exhaustion is officially back. Ugh. Shoulda got everything done a few weeks ago when I felt like (relatively) a million bucks.
  • I hate my screenname. It should be Tinkerham. But I got banned from the Knot like 7 years ago. Ugh.

You have NOTHING to feel guilty about. Those bottles are complimentary. I always take the bottles home with me.

  • I've been to a hotel (a nice one) where you can't even take it home now. It's like in a contain against the wall waiting to be pumped out. I was pissed!

  • Watching Hoarding tonight since DH is out of town. I'm fascinated and disgusted by it all at the same time and can't look away.

Yeah, at the very least this show is good for making me want to de-clutter.

Me too, but it also makes me really sad for the people. Especial Animal Hoarding. I can't watch that one because it just all around makes my heart sad.
