Nothing left to do but wait...

So tonight DH and I were talking about our goal for having everything for baby done by (washing clothes, setting up nursery, etc.) Last pregnancy, I tried planning ahead and got everything done before 30 weeks. And, as nice as it was to not have anything left to do, well, I had nothing left to do. I NEEDED to stay busy, so I did nothing but reorganize everything at least 10 times before DS arrived. This time, I'm thinking I'll space things out and try finishing up around 36 weeks. When do yall plan on having everything crossed off your to-do list?

Re: Nothing left to do but wait...

  • I probably won't have everything done until 36 weeks or so. My shower is at 34 weeks and I'm sure I will go crazy washing clothes and organizing the last minute stuff we get. I'm working full time until the end and my second job until 35 weeks, so that only leaves me one day a week to do things from now until then. I am trying to be on the mindset of doing one extra load of laundry, cleaning out one extra closet or cabinet etc. a week so I don't panick at the end.

  • My goal is 34 weeks. This is my second pregnancy though so I'm not having a shower. DD dropped at 35 weeks and then itwas so uncomfortable to do anything so I'm glad I was done by then.

  • I'm 30 weeks today and all I have left to do is hang up wall decor in the nursery, wash clothes etc, pack my bag and have the baby shower (and get a crib mattress if I don't get it at the shower) Also need to get the changing station ready w diapers and other supplies. Other than that, all done ;)
Need to keep reading books too!
  • I'd like to be done at 36 weeks.

  • I feel the same. I'm a ftm and I did everything I could until my shower and now I find myself obsessing over the shower and If we'll get what we need. I'm cloth diapering and my family has been very not open to the idea and have straight up said they won't be buying from my registry so that kinda freaks me out a bit. So I'm guessing I'll have more to do after the shower and I can reevaluate things that we need.

  • Ha, is it bad I never even thought about this until now? My last shower is at 34 weeks so I guess as long as I'm done by 36-38 weeks I'll be happy. Though in all honesty, I'll probably keep changing and reorganizing things right up until I go into labor.

  • I'm thinking 38 weeks everything will be done.

We painted and have the furniture in the nursery already.  The big thing is to clean out the closets which are a HUGE mess and I have been procrastinating about that.  That WILL be done before my shower though (34 weeks).  After that it will really only be washing clothes and organizing stuff.  Shouldn't be too bad I don't think!  Oh yeah, and cleaning.

  • Hopefully by the time baby is here...but if not, oh well.  As long as we have the essentials!

  • My goal was to have everything done by 28 weeks - it sounds really early but with multiples you never really know when they're going to make an appearance!

I'm probably more on track for 30-32 weeks for all the big things and that's totally fine. From 32-38 weeks I plan to do little crafty projects that aren't pertinent but will be cute and fun to do. Since I'll  also be off work I'm planning a lot of Netflix in there as well.

  • I've been working a little bit every weekend.  Just a few more finishing touches, and a few more things that need to be ordered, but Im hoping I will have everything done by 36 weeks.

  • We're close to being done and will be within a couple of weeks. I kind of wish we weren't bc, like OP, I need something to keep me busy. Thinking I'll focus on prenatal yoga and wellness toward the end.

  • My nursery doesn't have floors yet so...I'm thinking I might be able to start painting and decorating in about a month.

My shower is the end of May so I probably won't have anything even close to done before 37 weeks.

  • My shower is at 34 weeks, so like PP I'm hoping to be finished with major stuff by 36. FX!

  • We were Team Green with my daughter, so we have the stuff we need. We've now transitioned my daughter into her big girl room and she naps and sleeps for the majority of the night in her big girl bed. That was the main thing I was stressing over, I didn't want her to feel like the new baby was taking over her room and kicking her out. He will sleep in the bassinet in our room for the first few months anyway.
I'm in major nesting mode and have been cleaning the house, doing the laundry and all that jazz so I feel like we are done that was too. I packed my hospital bag weeks ago too.
I'm not having a shower this time around, although I know MIL & SIL did buy us some clothes (which could be very scary considering their taste and the stuff they bought DD) so I'll need to wash those when they give them to me, but we have all the clothes we need for at least the first 3 months for sure.
We only have one diaper pail, so I would like to get another one, but it's no big deal to carry a diaper to DD's room until then.
So, I'm 30 weeks and all done? Just waiting now. I'm impatient! I should have left something for me to do

  • I have a shower at 34 weeks, and a shower at 37, almost 38 weeks so... we'll be ready with all the stuff we NEED (car seat, crib, diapers, a few onsies) after the first shower, and I'll spend the last two weeks figuring out any other remaining details.

  • Since this is baby number 3 for me and this one and my last one are girls I am pretty much done with the baby stuff and room. They are sharing so the room was done already. I do want to get other things done in the house before baby arrives. Like finish crown molding in the dinning room and paint etc. I feel like we are running out of time.
  • I won't even be starting anything until 35ish weeks.. So my goal is to have clothes and diapers washed by the time baby comes, other than that I'm not worried
  • My first shower is this weekend and my next is at 35 weeks. I want to be done by 37 weeks. I feel like I am so far behind right now because we've been waiting to see what we need until after at least the first shower.

  • I haven't done a thing and probably won't until I am close to my due date. The next two months are going to fly by as we will be busy up until Memorial Day weekend (which will put me at 38 weeks). I am really hoping I don't deliver before than because the week prior will be spent getting everything organized and put together. Yikes!

  • I'll be 30 weeks this Thursday and the nursery is just about finished with the exception of getting some shelves and books.  I also need to wash all the clothing.  I remember being in nesting mode towards the end of my pregnancy with DD so I need to have all the baby stuff done so I can concentrate on scrubbing the rest of the house before he arrives.  That nesting crap is no joke!

  • Cleaning out the room for his nursery tonight, having it painted this week. We have his new crib but his mattress was ruined when the basement flooded so we will have to wait and see if we get one at our shower. Our shower is at 35 weeks so hoping to be done right after that.

  • I probably won't even start doing anything until about 36 weeks when my semester ends.  Not much to do really though but wash some clothes and diapers ;)
  • I haven't even started the nursery:(  thankfully it is getting painted this week Saturday and then the furniture gets delivered in a couple weeks so i am spacing things out pretty good this time around!!  Still have to wash clothes and once furniture gets delivered i need to organize everything but i am looking forward to doing that!!!  Hoping it makes the next 10 weeks go by fast!!!
  • I typically only desire to nest the two weeks or so prior to birth. maybe even one week. this time since the baby will be in our room for ix months, we aren't even looking for furniture, etc.
    imageimage
  • My goal is just to have it done by the time LO arrives :)

DH and I are perpetually late people (including our own births) so we're betting on LO having a late arrival as well. Our shower isn't until 33 weeks, so I have to wait until at least then to get the bulk of the organizing done. As of now we're still in the final stages of excavating the nursery (it was a catch-all room prior to this) and I'm scheduling the painter to come in the next couple of weeks. After that it's furniture and shower stuff.

I am more neurotic about my hospital bag. I figure I'll probably have that started around 36-37 weeks.

  • God I am so jealous of anyone who has "run out of things to do". Between working full time and the major home renovations....My multiple to-do lists are pages long each. :(

  • I come from a highly superstitious family. Furniture was ordered, but nothing is supposed to be brought into a baby's room until after the baby is born.

We are working on cleaning out that bedroom. Once it's clear, just need to put down a cork floor, and paint. I'm trying not to stress because I know that these projects are just one or 2 weekend deals.  Our big focus is renovating our ensuite so that we can have an apt with 2 showers. More than anything, I feel like once that is done, then it'll really be "Oh migosh we are having a baby!" mode around here.

Being with my LO rocks! DD born 6/13/14.
    image
  • I'm mostly done.  Clothes are washed, nursery is finished, got the car seat/stroller, diapers & wipes to last the first two weeks, bottles, pump... the only thing we dont have yet is the PnP.  My parents are supposed to bring up a cradle for our room til he's bigger and we just need the PnP for the first floor of the house.

We are not having a shower so we needed to start collecting early.

But have no fear...I have plenty to keep me busy and distracted from counting the minutes til LO arrives...  I have teenagers in sports, a kitchen remodel, and still finishing up some hand made items for LO.  And I am always looking for a deal ;)

  • Probably about three weeks after Charlie and I get home from the hospital...

    Married DH 7/30/11

    CSC arrived 5/7/12

    CHC arrived 6/2/14

  • I am dying to get the room set up! Its painted, ugly tile torn up, celing fan installed, and chalkboard closet doors relocated in DD's room. As soon as we get the new carpet in we can put the new trim in and all the furniture and decor. Carpet will not be installed for another 4 weeks! So I will be 30 weeks when I can start setting stuff up, but it shouldn't take us that long. I'm just impatient. Baby shower will be at 34 Weeks, and after that I can finish shopping. We have most of the big items, or at least have them in layaway.

  • I will be 31 weeks tomorrow, I started getting my room ready for DS last weekend. This weekend I plan on washing most of the clothes we have for her, and making room in our closet/dresser for her stuff. Not sure when I will be getting her crib yet. I'm thinking a few months after she is born, I was thinking about having her in a bassanet for the first few months.
  • I feel less of an urgency to get everything ready for the baby at this point, than I do for general household tasks I have been putting off, like organizing my two storage areas, pantry, closets and weeding out unwanted things.
I have washed, put away and organized all of LO current clothes. Her crib is up but bedding and wall hangings are not finished. Still need to find a car seat and stroller and begin to think about the hospital stay and home coming needs. But I feel that these tasks will happen more naturally than the less pressing/exciting household ones.
DH and I have waited for many years for this. We have enjoyed our time as just the two of us. But I feel an overwhelming need to finally "get our lives together" and not be as lazy/slobbish/laid back as we have been with our house routines. 13 distracted years spent in school and starting careers have left us with some unorganized habits...and baby will be our biggest distraction, yet. It's now or never...and I really don't want it to be never. :|

Haha I still haven't finished DD's nursery and that kid is 16 months old! For this baby I am pretty much done with everything in terms of actual baby stuff, I just need to finish purging all the excess junk in my house. When I say junk I mean the perfectly useful in great condition stuff that we never use. I don't even understand how we ended up with so much. When we get it all done I'll post some before and after pictures. Most of the house isn't too bad but that back bedroom was on its way to an organized hoarding situation.

I am hoping to be done with everything before 38 weeks but I am putting off stuff until I am done with school, only a little over a month left!!

  • I'm going to be "preparing" for this baby until she's 18!! I dont feel like everything needs to be perfect on day one....I can't live up to that standard for the rest of the days! We hope to have the nursery done, but I'm sure many things in my house will remain a total mess.

Have you guys heard of the blog White House Black Shutters? She's essentially the leader of a 40 Bags in 40 Days decluttering challenge in which you get rid of a bag of junk a day - big or small. This has been a huge motivator and cheering section for me to accomplish my own purge! I'm only up to 10 bags in 18 days, but that's TEN BAGS of junk GONE!

  • After she is here?! Dh will have paternity leave so I think at that point we will have some time to finish pulling stuff together (and lots of people coming around to help us with the kids).  She will be in my room for a while, anyway, so I'm not worried about the room being perfect. I did the same with ds since he was green and I wanted to wait on the bedding.

I'm much more concerned about the kids bath being finished and we have been so busy on the weekends.  The kids keep me too busy (and tired) to manage them and work on her room.
