  • Did you specifically order blue? If so, I hope that you got your cake for free!
  • Loading the player...
  • I said green and blue and no didn't get it for free! she didn't offer she just offered to add a blue ribbon on it with fondant and some blue flowers and I let it go for my moms sake who was pretty upset too I just said it looked better then it did and let it go I didn't want to cause a scene...
  • well I almost cried instead ! no never again
  • I would totally have gone down the free cake route. They sound terribly disorganised.

If they've done blue on the outside and pink on the inside, could you just say you're team green?

I am easy going... BUT I totally would have made them either make me a new one, or have THEM pay another bakery to do it right.
  • Photoshop ! lol brilliant and yes i think itl be a funny story considering his dad is mr macho outdoorsman and the kid prolly will be too... with his pretty pink cake
  • ....I don't understand why you 1) paid for the cake and  2) left the bakery with it. If you ordered a blue and green cake, I would be either taking the pink cake for free, or picking up the correct cake tomorrow morning. As a business, it's their job to get it right. As a customer, it's your job to be clear and direct in what you want.

I hope it tastes good, at least.

  • Can you at least give a terrible review of this place on Yelp and other sites? It's really bothering me that they got away with this.

But at a certain point if a customer pays for the cake anyway, and says "oh well" what is the bakery supposed to do?
Yeah, I'm not sure how that complaint would work. "They made me the wrong cake but I paid for it and took it home" And I'm not sure what the "got away" with. They didn't hold a knife to the customers throat and demand they buy the cake.

  • I will post the cake pic today and the only one who works there is the owner and she made it. we traveled to get it and getting a new one in the morning wouldn't have been possible we picked this place because it had fabulous reviews and we were 100 percent sure it'd be perfect.... I didn't make a huge deal of it because my mom saved up to get it for me and she thought the pink was pretty and babyish and once she said that I went along with it for my moms sake no one else's. I didn't want to be un greatful or make a problem because my mom would have felt like crap if I ended up with one from the supermarket after all this planning for a great cake ( I'm not saying grocery stores cakes aren't great too it's just the point)
  • Your momma should have pitched a bitch for you, if she was paying.

    I hope it is tasty.
  • Make sure you leave a shitty/accurate review to help future customers.

  • Wow yeah I would have pitched a fit for sure, plus they would be throwing in more free items besides the cake itself.

I call it preggers rage, my mother is often proud of this rage. lol

  • My dh says the one time in my life I have an excuse to complain and be bitchy to random people is when I'm pregnant. I have to use it while I've got it. ;-)

Little does he know I'll probably continue with this bitchyness when I'm not getting enough sleep, when I have a toddler.... Etc.

You should complain. I understand not wanting to hurt your moms feelings but it wasn't her fault! That's bogus!

  • The women should have offered to deliver the correct cake to your shower. That's some Bullshit!
  • Until an actual picture is posted, I'm calling MUD

I feel like I am not getting the full story. Did you ask your mom for a blue and green cake? Did you mom ask them for a blue and green cake? My question is did the bakery actually know for sure you wanted a blue and green cake or is it possible that your mom thought pink was good so she requested pink and then you didn't want to say anything? Maybe I'm slow or dense but I guess I'm not clear that you and your mom were for sure on the same page.

If everybody was clear about blue and green I see no reason why you couldn't calmly explain that this significant difference was unacceptable. A price compensation would have sufficed I would say. Them not taking responsibility for an important cake, and an expensive one at that, is really frustrating.

Eta: I hope the cake tasted awesome. I personally wouldn't care about the color because it's kind of a funny story but I would still let them know they did it wrong and would ask for money back for the inconvenience.

  • You're a trooper. Kudos. I would have simply said, I'm having a boy, not a girl, I'm not taking a pink cake. The end.
I hope it was delish though now that all has been said and done. Also, go on Yelp and tell about your experience. It will be helpful to others!

  • I'm waiting for pictures to be done so I can post one and yes i asked for green and blue I said it directly to the baker however the cake was fabulous and no one thought anything of all the pink so I'm happy. I will post a pic when I have one for those of you waiting for it lol
  • I'm questioning how you don't have a picture yet. I would have taken a picture with my phone the moment I saw it wasn't right. I'm having a hard time believing this is real.

  • Well, that's a white cake. Sure there are pink flowers everywhere, but I was expecting the whole thing to be pink.

I think you could have done better by just asking a baker at Walmart to add some blue baby stuff to a pre-made cake.
