I dont get the hype over Frozen. There, I said it. image
I like "Let it Go" as a song (which is currently stuck in my head), and understand the importance of the message, but it was predictable and I hate that.

My UO is that I don't like musicals... I watched Frozen for the first time tonight. Storyline was OK. All that singing??? Not a fan.

  • I haven't seen Frozen. I don't have any kids around me to watch it with though. Is it that good?

  • @saltypearl‌ big hugs

@BrightEyes112‌ we spent a solid hour one night looking at the most horrific maternity photos. It was like a car wreck

  • Mine is more of a bitchy moment.... Who the eff gets up at 5am(on spring break) to drive in traffic to Dallas to take her DF to the doctor for a follow up appt for his knee surgery? Yea that would be me. Why am I going and smiling about it? Bc that amazing man has been working nights and won't get any sleep today except for what he gets in the car. Which prolly won't be much bc I have to stop every 30 mins and get out and move around!! I love him but I hate traffic and I wanna cry!
    Sorry, rant over!
AND this is not me complaining about him, just the early freaking hour that I'm awake! :)
Also, I spend way to much time looking through goofy maternity pics laughing my ass off!

I am not a fan of naming boys Jr. or the third and so on. I know people say it is a way of honoring a family name but I think it just gets confusing and really, is it that hard to think of something different? I also think it is weird when a guy's first name is essentially the same as their last, like Phillip Phillips. Again with the creativity (although I have heard that is a Welsh tradition)

I have friends that named their second a Jr. That got a serious side eye from me.

Plus, it can mess up a lot of things for both the Jr. and Sr. I work in the financial world and have seen many things being reported incorrectly or confusion over who's accounts they actually are. I didn't realize how complicated things can be, but it's really common to see things mixed up. Also, a lot more fraud happens in those situations.

DH is named after his father; however, FIL didn't want to be Sr.  So rather than being Jr., my husband is the second (hillbilly logic there).  Thank goodness we're in total agreement that there will not be a third.  Who the heck wants to pass on the middle name Eugene anyway?  It was bad enough the first time around.

I do not like Star Wars or Star Trek. Dumbest movies ever made, yet I married a total Star Wars nerd and trekkie. I always assume the people who dress up and go to conventions are living in their mothers basement and if they are male will likely never touch a real live girl in their life.

I also have yet to be able to stay awake through any of the Lord of the Rings movies. I have tried and tried but am asleep within 20 minutes.

Dungeons and Dragons, that Magic Card game thing, and anything Cosplay related.. No. Just no..

I'm going to guess you don't dig Doctor Who, either?  :(

Was the first a girl or not named after the dad? A "jr" doesn't have to be the first born, it's just supposed to be the one who shares the name.

Their first born was also a boy. I always just thought it was given to the first born son.

  • While I definitely don't love the over the top gaudy (sp?) look ALL day EVERY day for DDs, I can't stand the walmart look any more. You know, where every single item is Minnie or Elsa or Ariel or Hannah Montana or that stupid giant orange thing that looks like a bumpy wiener from the acid trip show... Or whatever! Why does everything need logos and characters on them? From shirts to socks to backpacks. Enough! Freaking A.

This is why I try to get most kiddo clothes online. Places like Old Navy are good for basic non-frills for girls. Especially jeans.

On the note of gender specific clothing.

I don't care if people mistake my baby for the opposite sex. I feel like most kids look pretty unisex until they are about two and the fact that people can't immediately "tell" doesn't bother me. I dress DD in plenty of "boy" colors because IDGAF and a kid doesn't need to be walking around in a pink dress all the time.
Ditto. We are having another boy but if this was a girl she totally would be wearing DS's wardrobe of hand me downs.

It is still bugging me that my niece was complaining at my son's octonauts themed birthday party that only 2 of the 8 octonauts were girls. First of all they both are kickass girl characters and second of all she loves "girl legos" What is up with that? Why do the sets have to be pink and purple and all the lego characters are freakishly thin. She's only 10 so I couldn't call her a hypocrite =P

Haha my dad is a Jr. and his name is Marion.  My mom told him under no circumstances would there be a third!  It's bad enough that he is regularly mistaken for being a female with that name...why pass that on again?

  • I just watched Frozen.  It was cute and I enjoyed it, but I also don't get all the crazy hype over it.  Still doesn't compare to Beauty and the Beast...best Disney princess movie ever ;-p
