October is my favorite month because my birthday is the 29th, Scorpios rock, and Halloween costumes galore for the baby! Then we have the holidays right afterwards to introduce baby to our huge family. I am not looking forward to the winter with an infant though.
Its usually pretty chilly here in October, but fall with the leaves changing and pumpkins will be a great backdrop for newborn photos. Also taking FMLA through the holidays will be great .
Autumn is my favorite season. I love love love the colors! I grew up in NJ so I remember how wonderfully mild it was that time of year. In OK it may be 100 degrees or we could be having storms galore, but I'll take what I can get.
I didn't think about the time off. I just looked at the calendar (I only get 6 weeks off), and I'll at least have Thanksgiving off if I don't take an additional 2 weeks so it'll be thru Christmas.
My own bday is oct 24th and I love it! Halloween parties are fun go to bday themes. Also being off work for the holidays will rock and the long months before bathing suit season will be nice too... Less pressure
My birthday is in October and I always loved being on the old side for my class in school.
I'm an October birthday too and always hated being the oldest! In my state with an October birthday parents can choose and you can be the oldest or the youngest. I always wished I was a grade ahead. That said, I think in retrospect it was a good thing and will opt for LO to be older too.
Yes yes yes. I second all of this. My birthday's in mid October and it always felt like the start of the holiday season to me - birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas all down the line. We were hoping/trying for a fall baby for all the above mentioned; the holidays off, the summer maternity clothes, etc. Plus its our least busy time at work and I wanted to make sure I was still working during my three-year anniversary, because I wanted to be sure and get my increase in annual leave. (After three years I get 6 hrs/pay period, rather than 4.)
I'm excited to be able to hibernate during my favorite time of year. I'm kind of a hermit anyway.
Loving all of these reasons! Fall is my favorite season, so I'm super excited to have a baby in October! We see a lot of family during Christmas, so I'm happy everyone will get to meet the baby when he/she is still tiny. I'm also looking forward to staying in on NYE for once! We'll have a great excuse
I was hoping to be pregnant in the fall. I wanted to wear boots and sweater dresses. Not looking forward to being pregnant in the summer. Also I really wanted to wear a zombie belly for Halloween. I am happy to be pregnant though. It wasn't easy to get to this point so I am very greatful.
You could still do a zombie belly, according to my DH, halloween is the whole month of October! That would be pretty cool to do. Also pregnant in the summer isn't too bad, lots of A/C and swimming helps
Good point. Being a Rocky Horror veteran, I should know that by now. Though since I will still have a considerable belly by Halloween, maybe I could still do the zombie belly, but after my little zombie came out.
It is fitting that this kid will be born in October though. It is my favorite month and DH and I got married in October.
Am I the only Canadian who's thinking 'good weather? Whaaaaaat?' Every once in a while we get a gorgeous Indian summer in September, but by October it's usually pretty cold.
Our due date works very well with my photography season, the gaps between my kids' birthdays, plus we won't be feeding cows yet, so the whole thing could not be much more perfect
It's still going to be miserably hot here around my due date. I'm looking forward to it being a little cooler by the time I'm cleared for high intensity workouts so that I can do them outside. I think the timing will be great to have family visit during the holidays.

Yeah, we always have snow. My son was born in April and I felt like I missed summer, so this time it will be nice to curl up with a newborn when it is cold.
October is my favorite month. I can't wait to put baby in a Halloween onesie and invite our family over to pass out candy and see the baby. I can't wait for future kiddo birthday parties at the pumpkin patch or cider mill. I am going to love being off through the end of the year and getting to spend the holidays at home with my baby.
I am so excited to have a baby in October! Pumpkins, yummy cozy Starbucks drinks, nice weather (here in TX), and my birthday is Oct. 20, my EDD is Oct. 19th!
Your post makes me so happy, because I feel the same way! Curled up watching the leaves, hot cider, walks in the apple orchard w/DH. I can already feel the cool air!!!!! Our edd is 10/11...so that will be a nice middle of the month b'day! Congrats to you
Ohh so many reasons! - Baby's first Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas pics will be soo cute! - In our culture we don't take the baby outside for the first 40 days (besides Dr visits) so it's a good time of year to be inside snuggling and nursing! - My family Will come and visit us in NY!! (we go to SF every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas) - Drinking for the Holidays and champagne for NYE!!! - Maternity leave during the Holidays! - I'll be able to escape the bitter NY winter because I plan to take 5 mos maternity leave and in mid Jan I will spend a month in SF with my babies and my family!! - I will have approx 5 mos to get the baby weight off before my 40th bday in April! - And FOOTBALL season!!! I can't wait to put cute little 49er onesies on my baby!!
We don't get a beautiful fall here in Phoenix. I am thankful to have a baby born after 'bake cookies in your car' season. My son was born in May and had to get in and out of a HOT car all summer long. I felt horrible. We couldn't go on walks and couldn't get outside until October so this timing will be nice. I will be able to be outside with my big boy while my little boy is in tow. Plus, I think it will mean my Mr. will be able to spend more time with us.

October is a great month! We met in October, got engaged in October, got married in October, and can't wait for our little nugget to arrive this October ❤️ Such a beautiful time of year!
I also love October... it's the best weather! LO's birthday parties will always be during the nice time of the year, so you can have it at your home and have a mix of people inside and outside.
I'm so excited to take my 12 weeks of FMLA and have basically the entire holiday season off work to stay home with LO.
So many things to be excited for...
Anything to add??
Agree - Love, love that my maternity leave will fall during the holiday season (plus its probably the busiest time of year for my job - so nice to get a break from that for one year). I also like that Lo's birthday will be at a good weather time of year - right in-between the heat of summer and onset of cold winter. The tough thing where I am will be deciding schooling - as we're ahead of the cut off - so we have the choice of Lo being the youngest or oldest in his/her class.
Also love that I have only one other birthday in October - so many of my friends and family had July, Aug babies - plus so many have Aug birthdays to begin with (I think I have like 15 Aug b-days to remember), so October is a good month.
I am SO excited for baby's first Christmas when she is still little. In Northern California, we don't get much pretty fall foliage, but I'm excited that she will get here when it's crisp and not very cold.
^^All of this! I love snuggling inside while it's cold outside, having him here for the holidays (he will be the only boy out of 5 cousins!)...And I forgot about football season! I can't wait to dress my little guy all up in Ravens gear! And Seahawks gear to cheer on his big sis and her cheer squad!
