You know what guise? I'm so bummed my actuary post only got 7 love tits when all these other jobs got lots more! What is it, y'all don't think insurance is exciting? Math and excel all day long isn't your idea of fun? I just don't get it.... (
If only you knew how glamorous it is behind the scenes of your car and home insurance (unless you live in FL, in which case there's nothing glamorous behind your homeowners rates...)
4th grade teacher, this year, hoping to move back down to kinder... Man I have serious job envy of some of you ladies!!
Where I live (Ontario) there is a waitlist to even become a supply teacher. I have friends that graduated 8 years ago and still can only get supply work because there are no teaching jobs and everyone wants to be a teacher!
eta- teachers here make 70 thousand plus, and benefits and pension.

That's a lot if money! I make less than half of that in NC. It's amazing the salary differences for the exact same job depending on the state. I made 15k more as a teacher in TX and honestly cost of living wasn't much more than here. We have a teacher at our school is a visiting international teacher from Ontario, makes sense why she came here now!

What's a supply teacher?
substitute teacher, like when a teacher calls in sick then they call another teacher from a list to fill in for the day, or week.
@numbersgirl08, my brother is an actuary! He became a fellow at age 30 and works at a major health insurance company, but his dream is to open a hotel. :-/

So cool! I got my fellowship 2 years ago and life has been awesome since! I'd take pregnancy + labor and delivery over another exam any day.
I can't imagine taking exams and then wanting to open a hotel! But if that's what he wants to do he should do it!
@numbersgirl08 my mom soo wanted me to major in actuary. She thought it was silly I wanted to be a teacher and would never make any money. There are days I still think about what if, but I think teaching better suits my personality.
I love my job, but I gave up most of my 20s to be an actuary. I was always studying - literally! Thousands of hours! Be glad you didn't have to do that and enjoy teaching! I don't think I could handle being a teacher myself - both of my parents were and it's such a taxing job.
76 love tits for you. My last job was at a nonprofit and while I wasn't a case manager/social worker myself, I have mad respect for you and your profession.
@KentuckyKate you can get an actuarial science degree. I majored in business. Math is probably the most common though. Just as long as you take enough math classes and have a good background in calculus and probability.
