     Parties are fun, any excuse is fine. As long as you don't expect people to bring gifts, why not!

    i'm not personally going to have a sex reveal party, but I would attend one and not think anything of it.

    Bawhahahaha!! You have that so backwards, darling. At the very beginning of the post I called that people were going to jump on her and I was right. OP was being antagonized throughout her entire post. If you can't see that you need to get your head on straight.

OP asked for opinions (whether she denies it or not) and she got one. 'Massive eye roll" was a little bitchy but that's just the way it goes. Bliss even gave her a helpful suggestion: Pinterest.

    That was mainly in response to OP claiming that the whole entire town needed to know what the sex of her baby was and was celebrating her pregnancy or whatever.  Honestly, who says shit like that?

    There is a huge difference between blunt and to the point and then trying to pick a fight just for the sake of picking a fight. As I said before, I am all for snark when it is warranted.

    Bliss eye rolled OP an OP eye rolled back. That makes OP bitchy? Seriously? Just another example of not being able to handle what you dish out. Bliss was "helpful" after trying to rip her down. Pretty backhanded.

    Just because someone asks doesn't mean they want to attend a party to find out. But hey, whatever you gotta tell yourself.

    Wow, talk about a whole lot of people with negative thoughts. If you dont agree with it, you dont need to bash the people who do by calling us attention whoreish, and the other rude things you guys said. I for one have friends and family that have called me and said you should invite everyone over and reveal it then. Just because your family and friends dont want to, doesnt mean others dont. Who doesnt love a good get together? Celebrating anything is fun, stop being so negative and maybe you would all get invited to more things ;). Also I am throwing my own baby shower, does that mean that I shouldnt do that because someone isnt paying and throwing it for me? With that all being said, I decided to just have a photographier, myself, and my boyfriend for a cake cutting to reveal the gender. I am doing this because there would be too many people to invite for a reveal and I dont want to upset some by not being able to have them there.

She had an awesome turn out with over 80 people there. Nobody cared that she hosted it herself. She had a huge bbq, and everyone got awesome food, and cake, and her baby raked it in. Have fun at your shower!

    It's beyond tacky (and incredibly rude) to throw a party for yourself with the purpose of having people buy you gifts.  That being said, if you choose to do a sex reveal party, I'd make it clear that it is absolutely NOT a shower...ie, do not include any registry information, nor would I even give it out at that point to anyone that asks.  (and it should go without saying that under no circumstances is it ever okay to throw your own shower).

    For actual "Sex/Gender Reveal" parties, I'm of the opinion that I find them superfluous events, but I don't completely side-eye them depending on how they are done.  The best option to me is to make it a regular BBQ where the purpose is just hanging out with family and friends and then have an 'Oh BTW...' moment of cutting a cake with the corresponding color, or opening a box of colored balloons, etc, whatever at some point.  That way it's not over-the-top attention whorish, but still a fun way to share the happy news.

    @Ejmorgan15 a shower is a gift.  If no one offers, you don't get one.  You should never throw a gift giving event for yourself.  It's just so rude.
