Re: **friday 3/07 aw/ss/random thoughts**

  • Just raided a bunch of sales at the mall. Realized that even though the temps still say winter, I no longer need to bundle up for winter. Talk about generating heat! So a few more maternity tees and busting out my workout/sweatpant capris. I don't care if people look. I'm tired of sweating my ass off when I'm out running errands.

  • @wtfisup Yay for heartburn relief!
@mommyp170 I had that same dream when I was pregnant with DD. Like I needed to practice with the dog. So weird!

My older sister insisted that she got to keep ALL of my moms special things when she died - like ALL the old family photos (my mom had most of the photos from when she grew up because she was the oldest, plus all the photos until my mom had me basically). She also insisted on keeping most of the family baby stuff, etc. She just called. Her basement flooded with 5 ft of water. We lost all the photos. I now have zero pictures of my moms childhood to pass along to my kids.

I am so sorry. I have retouched photos for clients before after they had been damaged and they just reprinted them. Some of it may be able to be salvaged! Try to dry them out as soon as she can get to them.
On our way to baby#2!  Praying for a healthy and happy delivery next June!
  • @elsa1688 I am so sorry those precious photos are gone! That really sucks.

  • Question: Am I supposed to make an appointment to "tour" the hospital? I had never heard if that before until I came here.

If you plan on doing any classes there, they will probably offer you a tour at the end.

@presslove I cried yesterday watching the beginning of The Lion King when they sing Circle of Life and the monkey shows Simba to all the animals.

In fact, I'm getting choked up writing this.

Ummmm how on earth did you make it through the scene where Mufasa dies? I can't do that even when I'm not pregnant! It's brutal, poor Simba.
  • @Rachel5130 at our hospital they have lots of different classes. One is a L&D class where at the end they'll give you a tour, another is a MoMs class where they'll tour the L&D and NICU.

  • Grr I can't love tit anything and I couldn't get on tb last night but I have an update re:photos. Apparently there is some hope that she can some if not all of the photos (thank god). She did lose of the Christmas decorations though. I suggested we move photos to my apartment :)

  • Our hospital is pretty small and since DF works there I know my way around. The thing that sucks is that if I go into labor to early or the baby needs to be in NICU for long they will send us to a bigger city. I love this hospital though and they have a great l&d dept. I love it that we are known here by the docs and nurses and I didn't want to go somewhere we weren't known.

  • @nutmegs8 - I satisfy pretty much every craving, but haven't been too worried because usually a small portion will do the trick or I crave healthy things, too.

If it is bad, I try to balance it out - like, sugary cereal was OK this morning if I had some yogurt, too. Then I feel good enough about it.

Has anyone else noticed that when you start to tag someone, member names come up as autodill options?

Me too @skamber‌! Now I just think we need better smileys on here.

For full disclosure on the cravings... I ate a huge Italian sub yesterday, with everything on it and chips on the a side. Pregnant or not, I rarely would eat like that, but I wanted one so bad. I didn't feel a little bit guilty. There was no balancing it out with a piece of fruit, either.

  • @wtfisup - I'm with you. I miss feeling sexy and even further, I miss the things that gave me (some of my) self-confidence, like putting on a good outfit for whatever occassion and feeling good about myself.

I also miss enjoying fashion, because it makes me feel sexy and good about myself and well, just because. I love it. Clothes and shoes and the whole thing - stuff that isn't found in Maternity Motherhood.

The other day I bought a pair of high-heeled sandals (definitely for post-baby) and started a hidden pinterest board with all summer and fall fashion to start looking at, it will be here soon!

Pregnancy is such a trip. The other day I was thinking how I will miss my bump, the next I'm picking out form-fitting sweaters for when it's over.

  • @lest12‌ , SO MUCH YES. I think being comfortable and confident in a body takes a lot of time, and pregnancy doesn't allow that. You're body changes throughout it. It doesn't feel like "your own" at times.

I don't think I'll miss the bump. I won't love the flab, but I just want to be my own person who can lay on my stomach or lean across something or curl up in a ball or go for a jog. And to wear my normal clothessssssss.

  • Okay, I know it feels like a dumb question, but ...

Do you guys worry about squishing your baby? When you lean forward, when your stomach presses on the countertop, and your body squirms.

Yeah, sometimes when I'm trying to put on my socks & shoes, and also sometimes I wake up on my side but my belly's kind of smooshed on one side.  I don't know, it's probably silly, but I do worry about it on occasion.

I would feel bad if I didn't worry at all. I'm sure that putting on shoes is no cause for concern since there is some cushion in there. I wake up half on my tummy to and it's usually bc he is kicking the shit out of me.
I did get really scared something was wrong last night...I fell really hard on my ass. Tripped over one dog and then stepped on the other and ended up on my ass. Needless to say that it took all I had not to run up to the hospital to make sure all was ok. There wasn't even any cause for concern except some mild cramping. I wasn't spotting and he was kicking. Def a newbie at this stuff!!!

  • Ladies I need some advice, nothing major. I am the biggest fan of John Legend (love him!!) my hubby as well. Anyways he is playing in our city on June 24th which is two days before my due date. I have been wanting to see him live forever and I really really want to go. He is playing at a smaller venue with comfy seats and it should be a fairly mellow show, would you buy tickets and go hugely pregnant or not? I am leaning towards getting tickets and trying to make the show, hoping that baby stays put until she is due. What are your thoughts?

  • @lindsleigh77, I wouldn't. That's a big expense for something that you may not be able to attend. You could be in labor or have a newborn. There will be more opportunities.

We're not even attempting a standing concert a month beforehand. I think I would just be too tired halfway through to enjoy it.

  • @Lindsleigh77 I have a similar-ish situation - Diana Gabaldon is going to be in the DC area the middle of June.  My EDD is June 7, although I'll probably have baby at least a week earlier (hopefully not more) - I bought my tickets and I'm planning on going.

The tickets weren't that expensive, though, but if I feel up to it, I plan on going to it.  I guess it depends on how expensive the tickets are, but it sounds like the venue would be more accommodating than a big stadium.

  • I keep going back and forth on posting anything here, but if it ends up being a little therapeutic, then fine.

So, I have no REAL reason to be worrying right now.  True, I went to L&D last week and ended up getting the steroid shots to develop LO's lungs, but I was discharged as "stable."  Never even talked to a doctor before leaving - all of my labs came back normal, so I know I'm not pre-eclampsic right now.  Doing another 24-hour urine collection today and have a follow up appointment on Thursday with my OB - the same one I saw last week, so I'll have that consistency (it was the first time, when asked, that I said I'd rather NOT see the PA or MW, b/c of what was going on I wanted to see one of the docs).

So, while I will hopefully learn more on Thursday, have the chance to ask questions about what the reality of my situation is - how worried are they about pre-eclampsia, what are my chances of going on bed rest, etc. - I spent time reading up on pre-e last night.  I have an awesome LB who talked me down a bit, but I'm just nervous, and not doing my usual good job of not thinking about it or worrying until I have something to worry about.

Not really looking for advice or anything (unless there are ladies here who have dealt with pre-e in the past and have anything to share), just kind of mindlessly venting/spewing.

  • @chickpea912 @wtifisup @lyracelesti thanks for all the input ladies, I appreciate it. It is a smaller venue and tickets are not very expensive so I am leaning towards getting tix and risking it and if we cannot make it cause I am in labour or have a newborn then I will try to sell them off for someone else to enjoy. It is definitely an accommodating and comfortable venue and will be a more adult and mellow show, no standing or dancing in the aisle type of thing. Just wanted some outside advice so thanks a bunch. Hubbs and I will discuss it and make our final decision. I also plan on tweeting to Mr Legend and maybe he will come to the hospital if I happen to go into labour early, how awesome would that be....... haha a nice daydream anyways.
