LO Has RSV - Update

Owen developed an awful hack and labored breathing at his 3:30 feeding so we took him to the ER. They ran a few tests and they came back positive for RSV. The doctor wants him to be admitted to the hospital, possibly for up to 30 days. Right now they're trying to decide if they should keep him at our local hospital or send him to the children's hospital a little over an hour away. Any thoughts and prayers would be appreciated!

Update - Owen had a bad episode yesterday afternoon where he really struggled to breathe and the area around his mouth turned blue. Thankfully he pulled out of it on his own but the doctor decided to put him on oxygen to help him out. He's been doing great ever since. They started weaning him off the oxygen now and if he can keep his saturation levels up they will release him today or tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers, we really appreciate it!

so sorry he's feeling bad. Sending T&P's your way. Hopefully he won't have to be there for 30 days. One of my friends' little boys had RSV as an infant and he was better after 2 weeks. Hopefully your little guy fights it off quick!

Aww I'm sorry to hear that! Poor lil Owen (I LOVE THAT NAME, it's my DS's). Unfortunately RSV is pretty common but therefore treatable so try not to worry too much (if that's possible!). T&P!

Thanks everyone! Owen has had a few basic evaluations and they tell us he doesn't sound too bad. We caught it early. Trust that mom instinct! Luckily we are able to stay local for now which will make this a little easier. Now we just wait and see how he does and hope his sister doesn't come down with it too.
