It's flexible and family friendly. If I need to come in late or work an afternoon from home, I can.
A few weeks after starting, I told my boss that I was 3 months pregnant and he was THRILLED AND ADORABLE.
All of my bosses have been adamant that I take the full paid leave and don't think about work while I'm here.
I went from a job where I had to walk and carry heavy things all day (teaching on campus; dragging technology around) to a sweet desk job where I can work remotely when I want, i.e. from a Panera while I eat brownies.
Everyone is the best.
There is zero grief about leaving early for medical appt.'s, etc.
So many women in the US get crap treatment around pregnancy and maternity. I'm so lucky and really, REALLY grateful. In my previous jobs, I'd have been screwed. This one came just in the nick of time.
I'm going on vacation next Wednesfay for 8 days and I can't wait. I love the Florida keys and need to get away from this snow and relax. And, I get to wear all my nautical, Old navy, maternity clothes!!! I'm such a dork.

Me too!! Yay for bosses that don't suck!!! (my job doesn't give me any paid leave, but my direct supervisor has been awesome so far)

Me three. I was also promoted this year on top of the absolute freedom and support I have there. My husband was also promoted just a couple weeks before me, but after only three months at a new job in a new industry! He's killing it. We could not be in a better situation right now heading into parenthood. (Aside from maybe coming from wealthy families, not needing to work so I could audition and create all day, and being filthy rich. But I wouldn't trade our work ethics for anything!)
ricecakes1216- Some people don't know what to say, Moms included. You're going to be great!
@lest12- We're Catholic, too! My crying episode was the thought that she would be a nun. While I felt it was a beautiful calling, the tears started when DH mentioned nuns greatest service is during the holidays. Hopefully, you and your H will find a solution to raise your LO.
@presslove - every now and then DH and I play the "what if our child does this with their life game..." It's so hard to imagine ALL of the possible directions a little baby's life could go in!
And thanks. We plan on technically bringing our kids up Catholic, you know, baptism, The sacraments, religious ed... but always teaching them that there are alternative beliefs and they should follow what they feel... Like, mom feels this way, dad feels this way, children should listen to the big world out there and find their own way, with, of course, the guidance of anyone who can give it.
I don't think this is a bad approach to raising a baby. It sometimes my Catholic guilt gets the best of me and I feel like I'm not doing the right thing by God.
That was a longer explanation than you asked for, lol, but if anyone finds the self in a similar situation or wants to offer perspective, I'd love to hear
It's supposed to hit 40 today in Buffalo and it's put me in the best mood ever, all my curtains/blinds are open letting the fresh sunshine in and now I'm in total nesting mode, vaccum-check, laundry-check, shake out floor rugs, check, just getting ready to wash the floors/walls( I need to take advantage of this mood, bc I know it won't last) Plus 10day forecast has us going back into the 20s later in the week
You're in Buffalo too??? It was a beautiful day even though I was stuck working through most of it!! I had hoped to get my dog out for a walk but I've had hip pain all day so that didn't happen.
AW/SS.. I told my Mom tonight that she should just go ahead and cancel the space she was planning to rent to throw me a shower and save the money. I am feeling somewhat bitter that none of my friends have asked about me having a shower or offered to throw one. I know it is not something that needs to be done, or is a guarantee, but my feelings are really hurt either way and at this point I don't even know who I would invite since no one seems to care. *pouty McPouterpants*
I'm confused. It sounds like your mom is throwing you a shower? Maybe people haven't asked about it thinking it is a surprise? If it is bothering you just bring it up to them (not that you want them to throw you one, just the shower itself)
@Lest12- I think you're making a great decision. You're raising your child with a strong religious foundation while teaching that there are other beliefs out there.
She was planning on throwing it for me, which I really appreciate, but she for the most part was planning it because none of my friends had offered and she wanted me to have a shower. When I told her to cancel it she understood but wants me to think on it for another day or so. Just seems like a waste of money for her when she could spend that on stuff for LO to have at her house. (they will be watching him for us for the first few months after I go back to work)
I might be overreacting and should just be happy that Mom wants to throw one for me, but I just feel bad that none of my friends seem to care.
You're overreacting
My mom/sis are throwing my shower. My friends hadn't asked a whole lot about when/if I would have one, I think they just kinda assumed I would and that my sister was taking care of it. They got their invites and are all really excited.

I like a good pity party, too.... But don't be silly! Let your mom throw you one and have her invite your friends! It's great that your mom wants to do it. Don't take your friends lack of initiative personally. People have stuff going on, you know? I'm sure they'll love to come celebrate with you, even if they didn't pull it together to plan it.

My mom is throwing my shower and nobody else has offered to help/throw one. But to me that's not weird or anything... a lot of my friends' moms threw their showers. I think maybe you're getting a little too upset about it. They might not even be thinking about being involved if that's the standard they're used to, too.
DH and I foster dogs through an animal rescue. Our final rescue dog(since LO is on the way), a Dane mix was adopted tonight after 4 long months of training!
My tipsy mil (that I am not close with) just told me SEVERAL times over dinner how she wants to be in the delivery room, even after I said only DF will be in there. Like would not let it go.

My SS in my DH is coming home today!!! He hasn't been home in almost 13 weeks. I still have so much to do. Our new washer and dryer came in yesterday but they are not hooked up so I have to go to the laundromat, walmart, work and the grocery store. Ugh, I'm still laying in bed. I hope I don't over do it because we are going to register tomorrow. Double SS!
DH is going to drive me crazy. Yesterday we had two names we really liked, and I spent all day thinking about them and then REALLY liking them. This morning he decides that he doesn't like them anymore.
HE DOES THIS WITH EVERY NAME.

After being breech this entire time, I think this kiddo finally went head down. Hearburn eased up; kicks are above the navel (I think they're kicks) and very little going on down low.
Re: **friday 3/07 aw/ss/random thoughts**
I'm going to go with 27 weeks that way I feel like I'm almost to the end since I am now 27 weeks today

I agree
Best day eva! Happy bday!
I cried for so long after watching. It's beautiful, but definitely a tear-jerker.
Married DH 7/30/11
