Ergo FYI: Yesterday I found one of the hood clasps had popped off our Ergo, frustrating because that thing wasn't a cheap purchase but scary because I found it on the floor of L's room and it is seriously the perfect little choking hazard. We do use it every day so I'm sure that's why it's coming apart but he's always sucking on various parts of it while I'm carrying him so obviously I'm feeling a little more cautious about that now. Just figured I'd put a heads up out.
I told my husband I was so busy yesterday. How busy? SO busy I didn't get on the Bump until almost 8pm for my WFD? thread!! It is true but it was my own dang fault for running around getting errands and taking a class with LO.
SO this is way old but @huckleberry08 and @mrsveinotte I think Canadian hospitals are much crappier than American hospitals in general and add to that my hospital here in Niagara is old and crappy but has an amazing reputation in the maternity ward for doctors/nurses and doctor/midwife relationships. So while it was sketchy and the air conditioning window unit made the room either SO COLD I needed all the layers or SO HOT I was dripping sweat I would have my next baby there no question!

Was this one of the snaps on the hood tethers? I'd definitely be putting a call in to Ergo - maybe they'll send you a replacement!
I just signed up for the Disney Wine & Dine half marathon. 8-} I don't know what I'm going to do. Besides playing sports the most I've run is like 6 miles in college.
Is it the one in Orlando? I'll do it with you if you don't already have a running buddy

Yes! Snaps, that was the word I was trying to think of. I sent them an email but you're probably right I should call. I was so pissed when I realized it fell off!

@itsstackie I would LOVE to do that one! But, I can't really afford the registration fee, airfare there and back, plus food and lodging. It'd be a seriously expensive race for me. lol
@wasnotwas YES! That'd be so cool. I already talked DH into it, he hates running. Maybe we can meet somewhere and do a 5k as a practice warm up for me.

I'm terribly out of shape but I think I can get it in gear for Nov. I'll PM you in a bit!!
You guise! I got offered my same salary and benefits package on the local museum job!!! To switch from a Boston job to a north shore job it is really hard to make anything comparable so I'm over the moon excited. And I mean i get 9 hours of commuting time back per week! I totally did the roger rabbit in front of a bunch of other parents at gymnastics class when I read the news on my phone. I looked super cool.
Jameson just made my heart melt. Im nursing him to sleep right now and mid session he unlatched, sat up in my lap and gave me a huge wet baby kiss right on the mouth, smiled at me and went straight back to nursing. Gah,he sure knows how to make his mommies day
There is nothing worse than finally getting a crying baby to relax onto your chest and start to drift back to sleep and THEN feeling the giant wet spot on their pjs.
Long day. Ive been up since about 5am when i got the text that my newest niece was born. Couldnt fall back asleep after that! Started getting ready around 7am. LO woke up at 8:30. Got her readt and we went and got the new mommy goody bag together for my soon to be SIL, then went to the hospital, got in by noon, met the baby. Got the news that my 88 year old grandmother was at the same hospital but in the emergency room because she had a dizzy episode which ended up being a blockage on the left side if her heart causing it to skip beats. So she had a pacemaker placed and thank God she is recovering well. She's such a fighter. Anyway... Stayed at the hospital till 7pm between visiting my brother/SIL/niece and my grandma. Legs feel like they could fall off from the walking between the two areas and i basically carried/held LO the entire time. Came home and LO would not sleep. Finally got her down close to 11pm... My head is pounding and I need sleep now... But my brain won't shut off. It's been a happy and worrysome day but overall good. I'm just pooped.
@nikkip15 I believe the avengers race is the weekend after the wine and dine. My niece recently went with us to Disney and is around the age our LOs will be then, she enjoyed most of it. It's best to know where kids rides are, and have a plan to entertain if there are lines and such.
@disneyrunners: I'm seriously thinking of doing the avengers 1/2 at Disneyland in November or the tinkerbell next Feb. I did the tinkerbell a couple yrs ago and want (NEED) to do another Disney race before baby #2!
Has anyone taken a 15 month old or an 18 month old to Disney? How'd it go?
I haven't personally, but an acquaintance of mine took her son when he was around four months, eight months, a year, and fifteen months (has an annual pass), and it went well for her every time. She has a LO who will sleep in the stroller when he is tired, so I am sure that helped. I think it really depends on your kid. (A kid who is high maintenance at home will be high maintenance at Disney!) Also, from what she said, you also have to manage your expectations and realize that you won't get to do or see everything with a toddler. We plan on taking our LO this fall when he is about 17 months.

So last night I was struggling to get LO to sleep. Nursed both sides and she was still awake but seemed like she wanted to sleep. She was whining. I tried bouncing her which normally works but she just cried and started saying "mummommummommm" over and over. At first I thought she was saying mama so I was like "it's ok baby mama is here" *bouncing more* which lead to more screaming. Then I thought- is she saying "mum mum?" I say mum mum when she is eating sometimes, like "is that good food? Mmm, mum mum"... So I tried it. Sat her down with some Cheerios and she went to town so I got a jar of baby food and she ate the entire thing plus more Cheerios! (She normally won't eat even half a jar bc she likes to self feed). Welp... Got her to bed by 11pm and she didn't wake up again till 6am! She's been up every 2-3 hrs lately overnight wanting me by her or wanting the boob. I don't know now if she's just been hungry? But anyway I'm pretty impressed that she communicated her want to me by saying her version of "mum mum!"
Thanks for all the congrats ladies! I am still in a bit of shock as I wasn't looking to change jobs or even looking at new jobs for that matter, my MIL just sent me the posting and I kind of had to throw my hat in the ring. I am so nervous to quit my current job because I really like my boss and job but he will totally understand when he hears what the new gig is. He still won't be happy though. Just got to rip it off like a band-aid I guess.
So if I give notice today I can work until April 5th, or just end March 31st if that is easier. That's enough notice, right? I'm trying to be considerate since I know this is going to blindside them. I wanted to wait until Friday to tell him but DH said it would be better to give them the max amount of notice time.
And yes, let me be a sign of hope for those of you who want to look for something with better family life balance! I swear the stars will align in your favor at some point, just keep your eyes peeled.
@gigglejiggle@wasnotwas I found a website that lists races in Florida. We can maybe find one in between in perhaps Daytona, if I knew a good weekend!!
That would be perfect, but I'd be willing to go to Orlando because my BFFL who lives there is pregnant with her 2nd and I haven't seen her in forever!!
@giggle that's so weird. DH goes upstairs to poop because I don't wanna hear, smell or see it. We are both pretty private about our bathroom time I'd die if my husband did that to me !!!! X_X
@ libberluru how are your boobs? Drying up? Still engorged?
Right boob is looking good! Left boob is still very hard, but smaller than it has been the last few days. I am still in a sports bra and they are still very large, but working it through for sure!
Good! So the right boob just slowly went back down to normal? Where did all that milk go? haha. I'm still flummoxed by this process.
ugh @gigglejiggle watching your kids get dissed is the worst. G is only 3 and he told me he asked Kaitlin in his class to be his valentine and she said "NO!" and I seriously wanted to ask school for the little bitch's parents' phone number. Another time the older boy (Liam) I babysit was playing too rough with G and he asked him to stop wrestling so Liam got all huffy and said he didn't want to play. G started crying and following him around asking, "Can we please still be friends Liam?" It was heartbreaking. I almost put Liam in time out for causing me parental pain.
I will definitely be that parent who gets kicked out of sporting events my kids are in.
